  • So it IS possible to do those harmonics on a 5 string without having to go out and buy a 6 string! Excellent!

  • Sexy bass dude.

  • i get so good inspiration from this thank you again :)

  • It is what I think as good cover. can quite clearly to hear each notes played from your bass. Better than many poser cover video on youtube. Nice work~

  • Have you done panic attack?

  • Awesome. What's the tuning?

  • Those harmonics are so great! And great cover too man!

  • omg that was amazing

  • i advice you tune your B string to C for easy play, despite you played it awesome.

  • whats the difference btw your old bass and this one? i think you old one had a heavier sound

  • @mrstrings - Which one is the old one? The Stambaugh? I've had this bass way longer actually. They're both great basses, in different ways. I ended up selling the Stambaugh, since I just play this one more.

  • @GBagley yeah that one Stambaugh

  • Very nice piece of wood!

  • verry good

  • how you do this DAMN HARMONICS :D

  • @klickBG - Magic!

  • @GBagley well...... a technical answer would be a lot more apreciated, but its ok :D

  • @GBagley acutaly i am asking fro the frets... :D

  • @klickBG - They're some of the harder to hit harmonics around the 3rd/4th fret. Play around inbetween the frets in that area and you should be able to find them. Try moving around in very small increments. You have to hit them pretty dead on to get a good, clear sound.

  • @GBagley Its ok i got them just about 2 mounts ago :) thanks anyway, they are realy hard to hit, and the intonation of my bass wasnt right :)

  • @klickBG Open B under-A2.5, D2.5, G3, A3.5, D3.5, D4.

Letter refers to string, number refers to fret approximation of harmonic location. #3 means third silver bar from nut, not including the nut.

  • @klickBG Compressor?

  • @klickBG Many basses cant do harmonics bcz they are realy bad quallity basses or realy cheap basses . It realy matters if your bass is good . I have a Warwick Dolphin and the harmonics are easy. But if its easy again if you replace a crap set of humbucker with a good one . I replace my humbucker in my Squier Jazz bass with dimargio jazz humbucker and they are great . Easy tricks to imoprove your bass. Sorry for my english hope i help!

  • I don't know why, but I seriously LOVE the look of your Ken Lawrence.. Not to mention the sound ;)

  • what is body wood of yours bass guitar?

  • @yrrehCMan - The body core is Mahogany (with an Ash center block), and the top is Coco Bolo.

  • it would be MUCH easier if you just tuned the bass C E A D G,

    ps.

    YOU RULE!

  • Nice bass dude! You should get a 6 String it feels so much different! Check out my cover of this song too!

  • is your bass Ibanez?

  • @DaYsteJam - No, it's a Ken Lawrence bass.

  • @DaYsteJam hahaha thats a pretty insulting question

  • how do you do the harmonics at the begginning?

  • @DaYsteJam - Watch my fingers, that's how I do them ;)

  • @DaYsteJam you just barely touch the string and it only works on the 5th 7th 9th 12th 17th 19th and your last fret

  • @bassattack12345 I know how to DO harmonics, if you check closely he doesn´t have his finger on either of those frets, thats why I asked, thanks anyways. oh and I realized that they sound better and easier when plugged to a distortion

  • @DaYsteJam - Those are just the basic harmonics, there are others. At certain points inbetween the 3rd and 4th fret, for example.

  • @bassattack12345

Aww, man. I thought all frets had some type of harmonic. That must be due to my own experience. But GBagley is great, nonetheless.

  • dream theater is too big for you, my little boy

  • @Shrink458 - ? Explain.

  • @Shrink458 Troll?

  • If/when you start recording any new stuff, could you do The Killing Hand? It's got a nice solo bit a the end, and I can't find any covers of it.

  • How do you get your bass to sound that way?

  • 1. Order a really expensive handmade bass from Ken Lawrence

    2. Be super awesome

    3. Done

  • @ralexlu - Magic! That's just how this bass sounds when I play it. Pretty simple.

  • haha this bass line is much better than original i think lol nice job as usual :)

  • wow I dont think Ive ever wanted a five string more than I do now after watching this. You are by far one of my favourite bassists on youtube just want you to know that. BTW Ive learnt most of your tapping piece Flight of Neptune thanks a bunch for the tab it was very useful. Keep up the great covers and improvs hopefully one day Ill be as great and clean a player as you. - Joey

  • Why didn't you just play with the B string tuned up? Wouldn't it have been easier for you?

  • I learned how to play it in standard tuning so that's just how I've always played it. It's not that tough though. Didn't know it was originally done tuned up until much later.

  • cool song, nice playing, i like to play it too ;]

  • Gbagley-1, wmg-0

  • love it!

  • i LOVE this songggg! and lovee basss :)

  • Nice cover! However I must say that this is not one of your greatest ones

  • Hmm, ive been clicking on this since it came out, and finally im allowed on it - fuck wmg

  • that was rly enjoyable. I beg you... PLZ DO IN THE NAME OF GOD, but the retailed version from live in budukan

  • wonderful, you conquered wmg!

  • this is really good, and you play really well =)

  • What kind of weird tuning are you using?

  • @amjan The normal tuning for this song is just with the B tuned up a half step. So CEADGC

  • @amjan And now that I watched the video, looks like he's playing it in standard tuning

  • Standard tuning: BEADG

  • He's using standard tuning but John Myung tunes CEADGC.

  • He is not. Just look where he plays the octave on the 3rd string.

  • Yea! You really should cover some of the protest the heros songs! This is also a great cover! 5*

  • Hey, could you try protest the heros songs? Those are hard, but i think u can nail them :D
