I love watching how these two great players giving each other a huge and smile, that´s sport spirit. But when Roger looses....he doens´t smile, but that´s because he is get use to win, and not for bad looser.
besides the 'basic' weapons in a tennis player's arsenal you also have the random qualities that you'd pick up from cross-training or outside influence, like: squash forehand/backhand flicks; improvised backhand lobs; badminton-like backhand smashes; returning smashes by serving from deep, deep court; etc..
The Sampras/Roddick Serve (tough one), The Agassi Return (undisputed), The Federer Forehand (undisputed), The Safin Backhand, and finally The Nadal Mental and Physical Strength and Stamina (nobody can argue with that)!!!...

If anyone's interested in a recent interview TMF himself chose Roddick's serve, Nalbandian's backhand, Nadal's forehand, Hewitt's fighting qualities, Nadal's mental strength and Edberg or Henman's volleys.
the sampras serve , the conviction of nadal to fight every point like it was the last point of the match , the wrist and talent of marcelo rios , the forehand of roger federer , the defensive backhand of nadal, the devolution of andre agassi, thats my best player!
Safin's backhand up the line and Sampras' cool under pressure. Federer's cool under pressure too, but it's a whole 'nother level of cool when you are down match point and belt out 2nd serve aces without blinking.
@jproxursoxoff i think agassi has a great backhand but im feeling a gasquet or a youzhny backhand. really great backhands they have. but all the other things i completely agree with
The better one would be Nadal's legs, Nalbandian's backhand, and Federer's everything else. Personally, I think Federer has a better serve than Roddick. It's just so unpredictable.
I love federer and i think that he is the best player of all time the only thing i dont like is his ugly girlfriend surely he ca find some one pretier
the thing that keeps federer on top is that his game is effective on all surfaces. hes the best on hardcourt and grass n hes the second best n very close to first on clay without a doubt... sampras could never say that.
if they are both at the top the game there is no one player who will everytime. they would split victories. id dont believe either player at their best is better than the other. i think safin has more power and a better serve but i hink roger has more variety/creativity and better net skills. if nalbandian could live up to his potential and roddick would play like he used to and stop moonballing the top 5 would be. 1.federer 2.safin. 3.nalbandian 4.nadal 5.roddick
Federer kicked safin's butt...why do ya'll believe safin can win, he only makes a small chanse, hoewever he cannot hope to defeat number 1 in the owlrd, Roger Federer, the god of tennis.
God of tennis? Federer's an amazing talent; but wow; what was he as a teenager? He needed an injured Safin; a mentally blown out Hewitt, a retired Sampras, and an ailing Agassi to ake it to the top. Kudos to him for maintaining it at the top; but seriously; competition is shit these days.
I disagree. Safin has great power from the baseline, but thats about all he has that stands out. Federer's game is far more complete. Federer at the top of his game would run rings around safin.
Far from it... For Federer to be at the top of his game; he needs the kind of tennis that everybody else plays; baseline and three-quarter court. Safin with power will take away a lot from Federer. He has an amazing array of groundies; and good volleys. If Safin had no injuries and was mentally tough; he would have taken over from Sampras.
Safin is a good player, even though he's not better than Federer, but the thing that Safin lacks is: He is mentally weak at times during the match. Other than that, he hits heavy shots, big serve, athletic, and great physicality.
lol Safin is such a hilarious player i really like the way he plays. What so funny bout him is he seem so carefree at times, he just doesn't give a damn while is the only one i've seen that have the talents to equal Federer but never utilized it properly lol.
I love Safin I think he's great to watch, he's one of my favorite players, he plays way smarter than most people realize, but Federer's a machine so...it's not even really a contest.
Safin fans think Safin is better than Federer just cuz he hits the ball harder. Well lets see, he is about 4 inches taller and 25 lbs heaver than Fed-Ex so of course his is gonna hit the ball harder. Federer is the best, end of story.
Safin is very inconsistent. But he has a great potential. The match he won at the Australian Open, Federer did not have a bad day there. To me Safin is the only player beside Nadal who can beat Federer when he is in good shape.
Man, you Safin fans are crazy. What makes you think he's the best of the best?! Sure, he's talented, but Federer is the best of the best! Just look at their records and what they have achieved.
I don't know why you Safin fans like to imagine that Safin owns Federer. Look at their head-to-head. Federer leads 7-2. Safin is Fed's bi-tch!
I think, it can be a greater rivalry between federer and safin then nadal.Safin has the all court game to give federer problems as in AUS 05..he just need concistency.Imagine all the great matches?

Roddick's 1st serve
Sampras' 2nd serve/volleys
Federer's forehand
Agassi's Backhand
Roddick's overhead
A mixture between Hewitt's and Agassi's return
Federer's footwork
Nadal's footspeed/strength/endurance/mental toughness
Hewitt's enthusiasm
Now that, my friends, is the killer combination.

Excellent choices.
What say you to these shots?
Sampras' half-volley by far, Sampras' volley, Sampras' running forehand, Sampras' overhead, Federer's return of serve, Federer's backhand pass, Schrichapan's drop shot.

I'd also pick:
Safin's backhand up the line and Sampras' cool under pressure. Federer's cool under pressure too, but it's a whole 'nother level of cool when you are down match point and belt out 2nd serve aces without blinking.

Safin's forehand;net game are terrible;he's slow;horrible mover and has a horrible record on grass unlike Sampras!
Sampras played like sh!t annually in Paris and had more 1st round exits then we can count!
Agassi used to own Federer until Federer got better;Andre made the finals in NY 2-3 years ago!
Federer beat Sampras at Wimbledon as a 19 yo same year Sampras won the USO!
Hewitt's game is the issue not his mind;weak serves/forehand/volleys;pure grinder;one dimensional!
