  • Layne Staley & Mike Starr reunited to play in Heaven - RIP.

  • Comment removed

  • That song reminds me when I was in mission, in French Guyana as a military, I had to make patrols in the amazonian jungle, scout to find some illegal gold trafics, The brazilian traficants had guns, so it was dangerous ....

Every morning in the barracks I used to put this song when I was shaving

Good memories !!! (sorry for my english I'm french)

I really really love this song ...

  • @Viriato91

my best frend did it too few times ago!

  • Rip Mike Starr, AiC has always done real music.

  • I've come to rape the rooster

  • RIP mike starr!

  • RIP Mike Starr - you know what they say, once a legend, always a legend.

  • This takes me back, good times!

  • RIP Mike Starr

Much respect for your work with AIC,

This song I think, in particular, showcases the beauty of your music.

  • This is raw, well-crafted and deep music that touches the mind and soul. Alice in Chains were (and still are) kings at their game. Alot of music these days just doesn't have that power, and sounds recycled or are just failed experiments (if any experimentation at all). I am 18, and unfortunately have to look back in time to find music like this. RIP Layne Staley.

  • Rock & Roll was getting progressively better & better, until the 90s when it climaxed in it's pants. Since then it hasn't quite been able to get it up again since. :/

  • wow just wow. this music is allready amazing but with the video its just stunning

  • I would like to pay an analist to the 3...give your brain a chance and make peace with him...this is all about music and talent.

  • q jodido temazo.

  • apocalypse now ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ is just what i think everytime i see this masterpiece clip, beautiful depressed with alice in chains ¡¡¡¡¡

  • It's rather ironic how the album was called "Dirt".

  • @LexCluthor why's that dude? I always thought "dirt" refered to smack & this song was about the only track that wasn't about Heroin. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a smart ass & diss yr comments I just wondered what u meant

  • @dirlewanger42 I had no idea that the Album's name was refering to herion, merely saw it as a name (which i was rather blind of me considering the band, but sometimes it happens) and just thought of the irony of such a decent album being called "Dirt". I appreciate the knowledge though on the name of the album and the respect.

  • realy forgot how good these were

  • lane is the only artist that i can really relate too...everyday i want to blow up my fucking head and end this joke of existence.i really hope that everyone that reading this massage dont feel like i do...its a bloody hell

  • @untilillbedead Dude don't die. We all wanna pop a glock to our head, but grunge saves us b/c it's not fake pretentious BS like modern pop and modern rap these days. Urgh! Music is so fucking detestable these days.

    I'mma just appreciate the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

We need to witness another revolution in music. You might have experience it but I never did. We neec to fight for true music

Peace out, rock out and stay alive.

  • great song :)

  • I'm from Brazil. I tried to watch this video but the first YouTube link led me to a window claiming that "This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. Sorry about that." I'm really pissed off. Hope Sony won't follow and do the same shit.

  • wth this is rock not pop... why is it called pop in the tags?

  • @greenlion49 its grunge

  • @paulf25 yeah :)

  • shame he died age 34 he had so much more to give !!

  • War is hell!

  • Layne Staley You were a god !!! RIP

That's why this song will always relate to soldiers!

Speaking as one, who just returned from Afganistan...

  • less than 0.5% disliked this song.

  • This song is simply the best ever.

No matter how many times I hear it, it always boosts me up. It never gets old and it is just a masterpiece including the video.

Long Live AIC and RIP Layne.

  • probably one of my favourite songs ever

  • This should have been on the sound track for Battlefield Bad Company 2 : Vietnam

  • Not seen it in 16 years and I can't leave it alone now. It's so rare to get a creative video that truly fits the song and boosts the vibe, most ruin the song for me.

  • vid starts 0:50

  • @206151 Thank you

  • made for the stoned

  • 3 justin bieber's fans dislike this video

  • Layne Staley come back, We love you........3 people are Justin Bieber Fan.

  • you need to embrace drum and bass so your kids can be ashamed of you. and the circle of life is complete

  • im 14 and im the only person in my entire school who listens to good music like this sometimes i just wonder whats wrong with this world.

  • @TheMrsadsap

    I say to u what I did jackyDoofer 8)

  • First time i heard this song was from three days grace.. Adam gontier is better singing this song....

  • @DamonTeamSalvatore are you on drugs?

  • @metalscobes666 r u on drugs... y the hell would you think im on drugs when im not the age of din drugs u spastic dingus

  • @DamonTeamSalvatore that is unfortunate .. and no, he is not

  • @theeofboozeroony oh will you pss off already u gronk. first of all when i heard the original song alice in chains ... it SUCKED BADLY oright.. everyone has our ups and downs and watever they think. ok so bloody piss off and just go jump off the eiffel tower oright u vafanopoly

  • @DamonTeamSalvatore if it were to suck so badly why has this man you praise so much done a cover of it ?

and im sorry but he isnt even singing the song in time.

and theres no need to get pissy just because I dont 'think' or aggree with you that guy can play or sing the song very well

if your welcome to express your opinion that he can play and sing it better .. then i have every right to dissagree with you.

  • This is the first song i used to play everynight about 20 years ago when i played the music in a bar called 'BOB'. I love Katie Perry, Lady Ga Ga and all that new music, its really amazing..........actually its terrible.

  • Is that Kurt Cobain at around 2:12 to 2:13? Awsum vid and awsum band btw.

  • The 00's are pretty much the 80s all over again. In the 80's sampling was the 'cool' thing, but people went overboard with it and made shitty, repetitious music without any real instrumental talent on display.

In the 00's we have auto-tune and whatever genre (shit rock I guess, if you could even call it rock. Maybe we'll just call it plain 'shit'?) you call Kings of Leon. People will get tired of them and they'll get swept under the rug with the shitty 80's music.

  • @jackyDoofer music like this means as much to me now as it did when I was 15 in 93. The chavs and bullshit chart today underlines that. And add stone temple pilots to that list.

  • :D 2 Dislikes ......It's really funny....It's even better than 0 dislikes....cause you know that people REALLY loves this song....

  • zika do baile

  • good video, can you tell me what it's about please......?

  • There are no more singers like Layne anymore

  • YEAAHH here come the rooster! this song give me goosebumps every time

  • That cow means business.

  • Layne forever!

  • This should win best video clip made EVER

  • A-fucking-MAZING!

  • This video is so special. On 2:58, when the mine explodes, it has something very creepy and cruel, but it is so well thought of. And those flashing pictures of horryfing scenes.

    Sorry for my sucking English.

  • YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! YOU KNOW WE AINT GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Naattie112 HE ain't gonna die :)

  • one of the most raw and truthfull songs ever written...the ninetys music was so raw but most of us were to stoned to think this shit could happen again.. but two decades later here we are..same shit, different century

  • Watching this video ,I just got a google advertisement promoting a justin bieber concert... He's everywhere ! :)

  • fuck... stop trying to read shit into a great anti war song....

    either way...win or lose...your still a fucked unit !...

AIC and Soundgarden...ruled this era !!!

  • so what is the rooster? but the song rocks is it a gun or something?

  • @david8287878787878 It's Jerry Cantrells dad, he served in Vietnam. Apparently the Vietnamese had no idea what they had on there uniforms (a bald eagle) so they called the US Army "Roosters" or "Chicken Men"

  • @Damnumopnglow vietnam has 2 different species of eagle native to australasia its a myth & a stupid one quit repeating it.

It makes you look like an ignorant asshole

  • @wondeboy12 Hey, I got an idea, why don't you go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself?

  • @Damnumopnglow Well heres an idea, why dont you try comming up with some material you didnt hear elsewhere first. Because each time you try this you end up looking like a fool repeating lame stupid shit.

  • @wondeboy12 Mmm yep, cause I really give a flying fuck about what some dude on Youtube thinks about me. Shot bro, keep trying to make yourself feel better

  • @Damnumopnglow If you didnt then why come back at all? actions speak louder then words.

Right you realise that argument is the same one the socially awkward use when they cant think of a witty retort right?

  • @Damnumopnglow Probably 82nd Airborne, the "screaming eagles"

  • @david8287878787878 I think that the vietnam people didn't know what the american eagle was, and the airborn simble of the american forces was an eagle, but they called them "Roosters". So that's why the song says "they came to stop the rooster". But that's something I just read around the web. Seems pretty true to me.

  • @david8287878787878 Apparently it was yer man's dad's nickname as a soldier in Vietnam. According to Google Answers :P

  • I saw this band in Melbourne years ago..was funny the lead singer stuffed a verse, drummer got up, kicked his drum kit over and walked off. Before we knew it, lights came on..show was over. Was awhile ago, i'm 35 now. Was around 18-19 when i saw them. Great track.

  • it's songs like this that make me wish i wasnt like 5 in the 90's

  • where are these pics taken from?

  • one word... wow.

  • that boy needs therapy.

  • badly rolled joints, scruffy clothes, long hair and just not giving a fuck, with the good music, like metallica in their prime, kurt and layne walkin' the top of the world, and hell, even the REAL guns n roses. THIS is why i wish i was old enough to lve properly in the 90's. not be born in '93, unable to understand the amazingness of whats going on around me, now we've got chavs and shitty drum n bass, its so unfair, i need a time machine.

  • @jackyDoofer This is very, very true. It was a hell of a lot better generally in the 90's and now we're in 2010 where we do have chavs and drum n' bass but also crap like the recession, the freedom of not having to be scared when walking into town. One of the only things I love about the 2000's is Guitar Hero and Rock Band where they capture music from even way back in the 1960's and let us enjoy that music in another way. Your comment is 100% true.

  • @lPsyckl ermm.. hang on. We had a massive recession in the early 90's. And rock band/guitar hero only encourage kids to not bother picking up a real guitar.

  • Comment removed

  • @alexandercominski Well, I guess so, sorry. >.< But also, that's true up until recently with the pro instuments in RB3 and the fact that you can use your real guitar in RB3 too. Hopefully, GH will follow the same path. :D

  • @jackyDoofer Dude, I grew up in the 90's and honestly we were spoiled with so much good music. I still listen to this stuff today and it brings back so many memories too.... i.e. badly rolled joints, scruffy clothes, long hair and just not giving a fuck :-) Its good to read that its still appreciated by some of the younger generation!

  • Respond to this video...

  • @jackyDoofer Sorry buddy, Metallica were REALLY in their prime around '86 with Master.

  • @sskubisnac No, they hadn't even got properly established until 1991 with The Black Album, that was their highest point in the career from 1989-1993. Now they suck, no offence but no Jason Newsted, Kirks' solos on DM aren't my thing, James vocals have gone and the drums are recorded too high, I know Lars made the band but I mean lower the volume a bit down and turn the bass up but i dont care as I've missed the good Metallica, same for AiC and GnR =(

  • @jackyDoofer Yeh I was born in 1991 and the UK is run with asshole chavs and shitty DnB, ok some songs by Pendulum are ok but rest are crap.

  • Lets not confuse,"not giving a fu*k" the image with,"not giving a fu*k"the multi million dollar industry. You've named checked Metallica there.Well, theyre the very example of a band that turned their collective middle fingers up to the establishment from 1983 to 1988 to employing Bon Jovi producer Bob Rock to serenade the mainstream from 1991 onwards.Sell outs,I binned the first 4 Metallica albums because of this.True bands NEVER change their sound example:the mighty fuc*ing TESTAMENT.

  • @jackyDoofer Son, I can just tell you ,as a teenager back in the 90s that it was freakin great! Nice music, good times and fond memories!!!

  • @jackyDoofer Son, I can just tell you ,as a teenager back in the 90s that it was freakin great! Nice music, good times and fond memories!!! I wish to go back as well!!!

  • @jackyDoofer man im the same born in 96 and all i can do now is hope me and my band can resurect music like this

  • @gee645 haha I'm '95 and I'm doing the same thing. Ima bring this shit back

  • @jackyDoofer im in the same boat mate, stop by when you find one...

  • @jackyDoofer

I know exactly how you feel. I was born in 91 and I really do think I was brought into the world way too late. All the best music was back then and we missed alot of it! I'm surrounded by people who think that lady gaga is a fucking artist! Bring back some pearl jam, tool and primus to life and show them all what there missing.

  • @jackyDoofer We should be friends.

  • @jackyDoofer Man...I understand your feeling!! At the same time I feel happy to see somebody with 17 old who loves the bands form 90´s anda maybe 80´s. I was born in 72 and lived the golden 80´s & 90´s and all the good rock bands like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and other Hard Rock, Metal or Grunge bands. We need and your generation deserves to have the good music back. I know there´s a lot of good rock bands playing today, but the "media" and record labels for some reason don´t want it back.

  • @jackyDoofer Keep on rocking man!! Cheers from southern Brazil!!

  • @jackyDoofer

i agree with almost everything here except for the badly rolled joints ... gotta roll'em properly :D

  • @jackyDoofer Mate there was pleanty of shite in the 90s you havent missed much

  • @jackyDoofer i couldnt agree more dude

  • @jackyDoofer i wish i was old as you ha

  • @jackyDoofer it was the same as it is now, the 90's were quite cool, but remember we had just got out of the shit 80's (although the music was cool), people thought they could do their own thing and everything would work out, but world power issues and oil reserves end up fucking us all up, so praise to anyone that can sing a happy song right now, peace

  • @jackyDoofer Your parents just didnt raise you right. My son was born in 1991. He grew up on real bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath and AIC. Now he is 19 and he fucking rocks.

  • @jackyDoofer if i ever manage to build one u will be first on my list to take back :D

  • @jackyDoofer

Damn I coulndt agree more... If it was not only to try to get in a band and write music and try to make a living of it (okay, you need to be lucky, but if you WANT it it was possible 20 years ago)... I dont give a fuck about the technology of today... I just need a proper guitar, amplifier and a boring apartment in a big american city.

  • @jackyDoofer legend

  • @jackyDoofer I was approaching 20 at that time, and these bands changed my life forever. Besides chicks, listening to this awesome new wave of music, as well as playing and writing music (with guitar obviously) became the focal point of my life. But then the 9-5 thing stifled it for a long, long time. But I've recaptured that spirit with a vengeance over the last 6 mths or so & started appreciating it & writing again

  • @jackyDoofer Don’t get carried away with thinking you missed out on some kind of utopia. It was a good time with like-minded fans, a ‘movement’ of sorts, but nothing amazing like the 60s movement. Most peoples’ musical taste still sucked back then as it does today. You definitely don't need a time machine. You just need to appreciate the 90s ‘alternative’ genre, that’s all. Better still if you have like-minded friends.

    Cheers, Matt :D

  • @TheEnemyIsIgnorance Completely off topic, but love the name! So true ;). K, back to music appreciation ;)

  • @TheGusto69 Thanks, man! I made a massive list of potential names, then by process of painful elimination ended up with this one. Thanks for your appreciation. BTW, I absolutely love "Rooster" & AIC, now get back to your music appreciation ASAP!!

    Regards & peace, Matt :-]

  • @TheEnemyIsIgnorance you are so right,,,,actually when this came out we were on the cusp of a really dull decade,,,,,,,,,twas a long time after this til I started buying music again.....

  • @jackyDoofer Your time machine is a few Tunes and the right attitude this music is timeless!!!

  • @jackyDoofer Well said bro

  • @jackyDoofer

Nice sentiment but yeah, even though I'm an X-Gen, most the ppl around me didn't even recognise the music of our Time. I saw Alice,Chillies,Soundgarden,B-Boys,Suicidal (shit u get the point), even did my first stage dive at Nirvana but they weren't in big stadiums, at best small music halls.

The majority are always in the mainstream pop-culture, whilst the minority experience the future legends of their time.

& the "movement" of ur time comes by only once, so take it by the balls!

  • @jackyDoofer i know wot u mean im seventeen and all i ever see on music channels is rnb and pop music which is just a load of shit and if ur lucky ull see kings of leon or biffy cylro up there but nobody realy cares about good music anymore i love alternative music and i always will but when i show anyone any indie bands they just think shit and go back to there precious lady gaga or tinchy stryder and it pisses me off so much

  • @jackyDoofer i was born 78 and still just get it properly now

  • i aways end up on you tube with alice

  • @jackyDoofer

Right on mate. I was born in 1980 and except for having to endure the 80's (even in retrospect they were mostly shite) but fucken a i got the 90's!

  • Awesome song! Very depressing tho :'(

  • That vocally harmony at the beggining is just fucking unbelievable. How do you come up with something like that?

  • such an amazing talent, still sadly missed

  • not a second of that 7 minutes wasted

  • @lucass098ace1

Well you obviously think so, it was 7:01 ;D

  • Amazing song they're best

  • You can see in the old man's look that it was just like hell..

Everything's perfect; the video, the music, the band.. (Y)

  • Yeah man the Viet Cong kicked the Yankee's asses big time in Saigon...sent them fools packin.......

  • This is exactly what I imagined the video clip to be like when I heard the song

  • awsomes

  • evrytime i work on night i wait for this song till 2 am on rock tv..and evrytime i can only stay watch it cos evry war story is a life lesson story.

especially when its tell by an awesome guitar and a special group like alice in chains.

  • MASTERPIECE!

  • Takes me back to the summer of 2009... AIC were rocking out as support to Metallica... what memories.

  • @Eoinposse Lol 2009, are they even worth seeing anymore...

    >_<

  • powerful............

  • muito boa essa musica mas o clipé a e legenda eu não gostei

  • A 7 minute single, accompanied with a video, with no editing of the song, is unheard of in the present day. It just shows how the music industry has changed. A band like Alice in Chains, though, would still strive to release a song of this length, (aka Acid Bubble) because the meaning and the art is more important than a songs market potential.

  • @GasPanic08 But there's something people will never forget and is good music. I only thank my folks to be born in 75 and the 90's were my generation. I will be 70 and I will still listen to good music.

  • Damn brilliant song
