adywan is making his TIE fighters all gray, I disagree with that change and would love to see a fan edit that takes his and recolors the TIEs to their proper blue. that's actually more consistent than his change (or the green lasers suggestion). video games are no help because they come along years later and change things for the sake of the hardware, game mechanics and strategy/fun. in the games it helps you identify who is firing what weapon and adds variety.
I'd be happy for anyone who released a "revised" version of ESB and/or ROTJ with the Imperial lasers all changed to red. I love fan edits. I just buy the explanation that it's an "improvement" of "consistency." As far as I'm concerned, the movies are already internally consistent. occasionally there are gaffes like a laser goes through somebody or somebody's gun doesn't fire or is mis-aligned, but the colors are right.
The AT-STs fired red, should he change those too? Maybe the Stormtroopers should fire green lasers as well? It'll never end...
Red is a better contrast. Light green looks good in the space scenes, because it's against a mostly black background (rather than a green forest, blue sky, white snow, etc).
That would actually work. After all, anything weapon the Empire makes has green lasers. ;) Adywan, if you're reading this, consider this as part of your ESB Revisited.
Wrong, the only "green lasers" are the Empire's space weapons (TIE Fighters/Interceptors, Star Destroyer cannons, Death Star superlaser/cannons).
In Episode I Queen Amidala has a blaster that shoots green lasers, and Episode III gives us "Jedi Starfighters" that fire green lasers. But otherwise it's entirely consistent.
Ground weapons, for everyone (until the Clone Wars, when the Republic gets blue suddenly) are always red, except Speeder bikes (ROTJ) which are yellow/orange.
We never had any trouble telling whose were whose back in the day. The Rebels were always shown on the left side and the Imperials on the right. Hence right to left = bad guy shots, left to right = good guy shots. Anything else and we saw who was firing in the same shot. The whole reason to change the colors was based on Vietnam footage of tracer fire at night. there's no consistent, official in-universe explanation for why they look different sometimes
cool

he's making the TIEs gray to fit in with ANH

I know that. I don't agree with the change. It would make more sense to make the TIES in ANH blue to fit in with ESB and ROTJ.

Still like red better. Green makes it a little cheesy IMO.
