  • That boys and girls is why the pros get the bucks and the wannabe's play FSX

  • Inflight meal is ready.

  • THE BIRD IS THE WORD!

  • Comment removed

  • like if u hate birds

  • want c..t dislikes this?!

  • "Mayday mayday mayday we have a engine failure" - "Er ladies and gentlemen this is your captain speaking, we seem to have a slightly difficulty and will be landing shortly"

  • MADE FOR THE SWARM!

    *boom*

  • @Zombiepwnage117 Thorpe Park ? ;)

  • @ATOMICxENTERTAINMENT Starcraft

  • Pilot says "A very good morning, Mayday Thomson 263 Hotel, maintaining altitude 3500 ft inbound toward Wallasey....7700 to re-iterate our intentions etc...

I would like to see a bad morning for him. What a cool fellow in a potentially lethal situation. Totally in control. Awesome.

  • this is very difficult one enginge had to be shut down.. its like dirving a car with only 2 wheels working!

  • planned on staying for 20, maybe 30 seconds.

    9 minutes later...

  • listening to this video in between the radio comms you can hear the silence and birds tweeting

  • i used to volunter for a local rescue centre and not more chilling than hearing a mayday over the radio, this message is played out over and over again so all the local boats in the area can hear and help

  • those people had to have been shitting their pants

  • This incident must be pretty ancient by now, anyone notice Concord at 2:20?

Most important part of being a pilot, ability to maintain your cool and make rational decisions. Kudos to the captain and copilot!

  • @flightoffancy31 It's only on show at Manchester... it was never parked up at the gate awaiting passengers.

  • @flightoffancy31 -- Its located at MAN for tours in the viewing park -- Concorde G-BOAC (affectionately known as ‘Alpha Charlie’) became the second aircraft to join the British Airways Concorde fleet on 13 February 1976.

Although G-BOAC was the second Concorde to be delivered, she is considered to be the flagship of the fleet as she carries the registration plate BOAC

  • No matter what could have gone wrong it will never take my heart away from wanting to become a Pilot. Yes these things could happen at any time, even right now somewhere! That's life! Look at the professionalism and calmness kept between the Captain and F/O over the Radios. Such a great capture Simon, must have been a really big milestone in your Filming history! The worst I captured was a Korean 744 approach 27R when was meant for 27L!

  • love the fact he says good morning to approach, polite to the end, could only be british!

  • can someone translate talks to russian?

  • AWESOME vid!!! this is amazing!!! great spot!!! i liked of course!!

  • You'd be scared if you were sat by a window behind that engine.

  • Sorry I was unable to hear, did they take off again?

  • "Approach, good morning" Such a gent :)

  • the pig is the bird and the angry bird is the plane haha

  • Maybe someone can explain to me what the repeated boom sound is?

  • @bigredjew it's a compressor surge. The bird damaged the compressor blades, therefore the compressor fails to build up the required air flow velocity and pressure. Combustion gases exit to the front instead of the back, causing the turbin stages and therefore (because connected) the compressor stages to slow down. The slower compressor rotation matches the reduced air flow velocity and produces more pressure again, speeding up the engine to the point where it starts surging again.

  • on 2:18 there is concorde??

  • it was a terrorist attack! a terrorist bird!

  • 3:18 Concorde in background

  • ANGRY BIRD!

  • @TexasHasPoo DEAD BIRD. HAHAHAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • Mayday mayday mayday gives me goosebumps

  • @waitingforacentury lol same with most people. it's generally associed to we are going down, but it just means something unusual happened and they need priority landing...

  • I wonder what happened to the bird ?

  • @TheDboy182 what about a few thousand pieces of 1 bird?

  • @TheDboy182 Chopped/incinerated beyond any recognizable, practically converted into a gas.

  • Ok, ok, now everybody start staring at the engine!!!

  • Thumbs up if you noticed the PIA at 6:38

  • In India jets usually get struck by cows and pigs

  • great job...good comunication everyone involved did a fantastic job...all the best for you guys!! god bless you all!

  • Is it required to append "mayday" to their call sign after an emergency declaration?

  • @KDALove - yes it is - just to ensure that everybody knows that this aircraft has top priority

  • Amazing. Everyone inolved did a top job.

    Credit to all.

  • fucking bird

  • You think Al Qaeda were behind this?

  • did a guy fart at 4:13? lol

  • hey concorde

  • awesome video. im no pilot but im not sure a birdstrike couldve gone any better.

  • im not a pilot but what haooens in a situation such as this? is the engine a loss? does a pilot attempt to re statrt the engine in flight or is it shut down? thanks

  • @r1casill in the cockpit there are many indicators of engine performance, thrust, fuel pressure, temperature, fire indicators etc, the pilots are trained to identify which factors pose the most risk and if the engine is still safe to run in the circumstances. Sometimes an engine can still produce usable thrust after a b-strike, but usually it is shutdown, and a 757 can certainly still fly on one engine :)

  • @r1casill Jet engines usually survive bird strikes rather well and most bird strikes go almost unnoticed to be fair. In this case the bird caused the jet engine to stall during take off and its normal procedure to declare emergency and return back to the airport immediately in the event of engine failure during take off. This video is testament to the professionalism of all involved.

  • @TheCloudhopper awesome thanks for the info!

  • FAKE

  • @mike86183

Real, You ass. It is created by a proffesional. How can this be fake?

  • @mike86183 lol

  • best aviation video ever

  • wow this 757 like Bombardier Dash 8 continue climb out on only one engine!!! such great achievements in aviation!!

  • 757 has a lovely power to weight ratio for a commercial

  • when we wer taxing the plane wouldn't turn so the pilot decided to apply full thrust (heavy load) and it was like we wer talking off again lol

  • i bet the passengers beside the right wing were shitting their pants

  • wow! 5* why the B757 can roll on Ground with one Engine, i think that´s not possible?????

  • wow! 5*

  • 2:17 Concord

  • How was the plane able to go on climbing? I think the engine was still able to generate some lift ...

  • @Byron10301, nope, the engine was shut down, and how did it continue to climb? simple really, they are designed to..

  • @clarkneil1980 Well that sounds unlikely, a plane able to climb on one engine .... but I am not a pilot (yet) so I guess we have to ask ... what is this plane, 767? or an Airbus?

  • @Byron10301 It's a 757, and I'd suppose that most modern multi-engined aircraft can indeed climb on one engine. I know large liners like this boeing certainly can.

  • @Byron10301 Twin-engined planes are designed to be able to continue climbing after the loss of one engine during take-off, with situations exactly like this in mind. I think the engine affected by the birdstrike was shut down immediately.

  • @istvanklein Interesting - thx

  • 7:27 NOT ONE SINGLE BODY TO BE SEEN IN ANY OF THE PASSENGER WINDOWS!! FAKE

  • @mike86183 Look again

  • @Boxman363 Sorry but still not a single human face to be seen in any of the passenger windows This video is FAKE

  • @mike86183 Hm, so how about passengers in emergency position, just in case. You know?

  • @matsopelle What emergency position protects passengers from fire ? This video is FAKE

  • @mike86183 How can you say this is fake just based on the fact you cant see any faces in the windows ? look again there is movement in some of the windows, also it was reported in the news media at the time, its not unusual to get a bird strike, fake? no.

  • @Boxman363 I do see very slight movement in 2 windows thats all but i expect other crew are aboard apart from the pilot alone, fake? absolutely.

  • FAKE

  • The passengers on the right side of the fuselage must be shxting their pants while seeing the flames and loud "bang bang bang bang"

  • @4:45 another damn bird on upper left corner......

  • See that PIA airplane at the end. Their passengers let the bird loose!

  • Tandoori Bird! Yummy

  • What was TV crew doing there?

  • That's one powerful engine being able to still ascend like that!

Superb pilots and controllers! Totally profesional and calm!

A credit to the industry. Hats off fellas

  • I love it when the fire trucks come into shot after landing. Looks like they are stalking the plane. Lol.

  • Thats a very expensive method for killing a bird.. However, its very effective.

  • He says he's still a bit heavy for one engine on taxi, but he was able to rocket outta there pretty damn well lol.

  • 4:13 epic fart.

  • 2:14 thats a concorde???

  • great job by pilots !

  • chop up fry bird for sale.

  • at 2:13 is that concorde in the background??

  • @djdecca Yes. There is one on permanent static display at Manchester Airport.

  • fuck angry birds this is angry planes!

  • 167 who disliked it are taliban...

  • This is a "BIRD INGESTION" and it's engine 1 even numbers are on the left.

  • @d256138f where did you read this?

  • @d256138f

Engines are numbered from port to starboard. So in this case it's engine number 2.

  • @d256138f

oh, and this is still classed as a bird strike.

  • Is that a Concorde in the background at 2:19 ?

  • @daviesadam23 Yupp

  • @daviesadam23 yep. Its part of the "Aviation Viewing Park" you can have a tour of it etc. That is what from around 2:10 the 3 white planes are part of. The Concorde now, however is within a building. Still in the same spot, the building was built around it.

  • @daviesadam23 Yes Manchester Airport is the retirement home of the flagship concorde G_BOAC. ;-)

  • This is a really interesting video. Better than most of the crap on Youtube.

What I don;t get, is how do you get hold of the radio comms? Surely that would be private between the tower & the plane? Or was it released publicly during a TV show or news report?

  • Imagine being in the window seat next to the wing lol.

Crew: Mayday? Eh, it's cool, it's sorted, all under control. Happens all the time.

    Passenger: OMGOMGOMGOMG

  • These Pilots won't have to worry about their carrier anymore! Job Interview: How do you react to stressful situations? Pilots: Ooo, Just type in Birdstrike on youtube! EPIC! Very good and professional video, and this video will give these pilots a safe carrier throug the rest of their lives.

  • @trainfreak7745 u asked

  • Oh my god! This airplane are going lowing te sky and their goin g down! this birdstirle are a fact ver very amazing and baad! Congrations to capitain!

  • The engine did what is was supposed to do Well done on Boeing manufacturing this engine not to explode or fragment on impact on a bird strike

  • @tomibewi *Rolls Royce ;) close!

  • @jbcd1211 Thanks for the Advice! :)

  • @tomibewi No problem :)

  • I'm no pilot so I cannot confirm anything however to me they seemed to of handled the situation brilliantly and deserve a lot of respect.

  • If both engines had failed the plane would have had a very different fate.

  • A "sim check" for real. Beautifully handled from bird-strike to stand. Precisely what we are trained for.

  • 167 people are cunts no point sugar coating fantastic skill well done sir

  • do you apply reverse thrust in situation like this?

  • Comment removed

  • I was hoping it was going to crash... boring video...

  • @FatherPatOphelia you're an idiot.

  • It was a Heron that went through the engine!!! May aswell do it properly...lol

  • job well done, concorde in the background at 2;15

  • If I was on a plane and I looked out of the window to see flames shooting out of the engine I'd have shat myself, no lie.

  • Why did I get emotional while watching this? Great job by the pilots and tower!

  • @asystole599 because you're an emotional pussy

  • @FatherPatOphelia

I'm the biggest pussy ever.......seriously. Good call!

  • @asystole599 Sure its a great job, but they have to know how to do an emergency landing caused by a birdstrike with just one engine working ;)

"Gah-damn. Outta feed. Wife left me for a hawk! What da hell she gonna do wif that thing anyways? I tells ya, I don't care if I get hit by a friggin' pl..."

    WHOOSH!
