For a woman who only made it to the 6th grade, JC was an intelligent well spoken Woman and very classy and she is only part of a very few who can honestly be called a Living Legend at that time...
@TIPTON340 Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought Robert Gist was Agnes Mooreheads (Endora in betwitched) second husband...not sure but you may know. Thank you.
@1927Norma Moorehead married actor John Griffith Lee in 1930; they divorced in 1952. She & Lee adopted an orphan named Sean in 1949, it remains unclear whether the adoption was legal, although she raised the child until he ran away from home. Sean had gotten into the 'wrong crowd' and at one point, she found a gun in his drawer. After he left, neither one ever heard from each other again. Agnes herself did not bear any children.
In 1954, she married actor Robert Gist; they divorced in 1958.
If anyone wants to have an insight to Ms. Crawford...the REAL person....the real Joan you will never get it by the book or film Mommy Dearest.....purchase "Conversations with Joan Crawford" and/or Crawford the Last Years....this is the insight to her...everything else is a charicature...anything else is intellectual lazy view...doln't want to look deeper just buy into short bs so it does't require more effort...don't text me back unless you can do the above! Won't respond!!!
@1927Norma Right on! You hit the nail on the head. I think the reason she lent some of her 1930's film roles--Our Blushing Brides, Sadie McKee, Dancing Lady, with such credible and believable performances was because of all the turmoil of her early life!
I give her credit that she didn't dwell on her horrible and it was horrible childhoood..her mother was very young and very loose; delt with being hitted on by her mothers boyfriends and or husbands...and lived working her way threw school and abused phyically and and sexual attemeps..later she gave in and thought they use her she could use them...not right way to go but her limited experiences explain her early behavior...she was an abused child...but they don't make great parents.
Sixth-grade education, tough tough childhood, working in those awful schools...she doesn't complain or dwell on it like actors do today to get PR. How many actresses today will be around after 50 years. Long Live Lucille LeSeur :)
Thanks for sharing this wonderful interview, Crawfordfan!

She comes across to me as someone that you wouldn't want to cross. If you do, you had better prepare to go toe to toe with her because you are going to be in for a fight.
Honestly, she is the type of bitch I don't like to be around. With all do respect to her as an actress.
@lostindiancamp It's sad, your ignorance. Because you're so horribly wrong--most likely mislead by her adoptive daughter, Christina Crawford's publicized claims and perspective--that may never realize the brilliance of Miss Crawford's life and career. She will forever remain, in my mind as well as many others, one of Hollywood's brightest stars, of all time.
" This has ONLY to do with work "- was this a reference to her enormous reputation as an actress who slept with all of her leading MEN and sometime directors. JOAN your alight in a DARK CORNER and you will never ever BURN OUT.
A Groovy Kat!!! And Rehab this interview is so 1970s, I LOVE IT!!!!
Really Joan picking your nose on camera this is an image I could have lived without, It maybe silly to some because we all do it but C'Mon.
@happylilsunbeam I know I am just said I am in love with this woman. You know I think we can feel a fake and there's nothing fake or cruel about this woman I am watching.
And America has yet to find our soul. We're more lost than ever.

@FredPellon0208 I agree with you on that. This guy threw the whole interview off. Who wants to hear about drug users and ex whores?

Yes I am...thank you. But there are different kinds of bitches. She is a self centered, entitled rich bitch who looks down on everyone else.

@lostindiancamp I agree, great actress, but seems a bit self-absorbed with an underlying mean streak just below the surface.
