  • sends shivers up my spine

  • band of skulls

  • This is really nice. Check out Widespread Panic's version. My personal favorite aside from the master Warren Z himself of course.

  • all good. thx. hard to not have new wz songs! but thx for the new releases.

  • Jakob Dylan stands, not in his Dad's shadow, but proudly along side of him.

  • Rami Jaffee has the best sounding B3 on the planet, and he works his own magic on it as well. No wonder Dave G's had him with the Foo Fighters the past few years. It's good to see so many agreeable comments for this tribute to W.Z.....with his son Jordan playing his pops tune!

  • That was so friggen awesome, R.I.P Warren we miss you.

I have a 10 year old that loves his music, pass it on hell yeah!

  • Jackson Browne did a tribute on this at his 2009 solo acoustic show on LI...he banged the hell out of his guitar

  • HOLY SHIT!!! Tears in my eyes! DAAAD GET ME OUT OF THIS!!

  • Respect!

  • wow

  • Daaaaaad, GET ME OUTTA THIS! How cool is that when Jordan sings it?

  • zevon hell yes!!!!!!!! extended version

  • 211112 views and i likey a lot.

  • man! the B3 makes the song here!

  • I had never noticed how much Jakob looked like Bob. Even though they sound nothing alike (both are great by the way). That's an awesome cover/tribute, and it's great that Warren's son was there too. They made their daddies proud.

  • @123crashdummie your kidding right......sure they sound simliar....and thats unfortuante......kinda like Julian sounding like his old man.....

  • excellent tribute to an American legend storyteller/musician.

  • When was this telecast?

  • What year is this?

  • rare for a cover to be "almost" as good as the original, Great job!

  • YEAH JORDAN!

  • ooohhh great job boys great job!!

    thanks for posting this

  • What a ****** great version, I bet Warren would be proud of this, bless him!

  • And now we have Cheryl Cole and Beyonce, wow, isn't progress wonderful?

  • love this song,

its funny this sounds a little like the Clas the way they cover it.

  • I agree with BuddyKatt...Warren Zevon definitely belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame. He was one of the most gifted songwriters of the latter part of the 20th Century.

  • 13 dickless mofos

  • The Wallflowers certainly did this song justice. Rest in peace, Warren - we miss you!

  • Jacob sure resembles his father in both appearance and on stage body language, and his voice is just as awesome in it's own unique way:)

  • Warren is greatly missed, his music lives on forever !

  • Beauty is in the orchestration ( vocal, not just musical) Know your limitations, delegate and...BAMM! BADASS!!!!! Thanx for posting miffomojen.

  • I much prefer Warren's solo version with the Gibson 12-string. GRITTY or what?

  • Which one is Jordan? Pardon the ignorance. I think Jakob is the lead singer.

  • @Mega6384 Bald gentleman with the upside-down Telecaster. Jakob is certainly the lead singer.

  • @veitchy88

Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate it. Great tune, great performance of it.

  • How was I to know that she was with the Russians too?

  • @srvfan454 You can't really. That's the risk. You just gotta go with it and hope she's worth it.

  • jakob's voice is a weak substitute for warren's, as jakob's is only slightly more harmonious than his fathers but all in all an excellent cover. And if you watch any other videos of this song by warren you will see that there is always at least one guitar supporting warren's and of course a bass too. That's the way the song was written, it is actually meant for three guitars, bass, keys, and drums. There are two alternating guitar parts that act in contrast to each other over the rhythm guitar

  • Here is a great tribute to a great artist, Warren Zevon, who's music has meant to much to me. I am happy to see his legacy carried on.

  • Don't much care for the organ, but Jordan sounds a lot like his father, and musically well done, imho.

  • Tip of the lid for pointing out

    "DAD, get me outta this."

Talk @ channeling, that was spooky.

  • I only wish I could have heard the desperate plea "Dad, get me out of this" coming from Jordan Zevon's mouth, it was the only thing that was left out in this incredible cover of another perfect Warren Zevon song. RIP Mr. Zevon you left a mark that will last forever on this earth

  • @spacecadet61793 it's in there... at 1:26

  • Kick-ass Rock-n-Roll at it's BEST. I can see Warren's smile as I peck this out....ya know the one where he's watching Bruce's guitar solo in "Disorder in the House" ?CLASSIC.....Rock on gentlemen! Thanks for post.....NICE.

  • Super Nice!

  • bastardization. Literally.

  • Took four guitars to equal Warren's one.

  • @MidnightChimes Not to nitpick - because it's the music that matters, however if Warren was known by any musical prowess at all it was because of his piano - Waddy Wachtel did most of the 'heavy hitting' guitar on Warren's albums. Also, 1 of the guitars in that band is a bass, which is more part of the rhythm section then anything....

  • well done kids !!! thanks.. shows respect for your elders

  • If you don't like this song you don't like rock n roll. And if this song doesn't bring a little smile to your face, you have not been around the block. Get busy living and give it a listen in a year or so.

  • Jakob rocked this shit!

  • A smokin' hot version of a smokin' song. Kind of a 1st cousin to "Hey Joe" and the Eagles "Bitter Creek" from "Desperado." Lyrically. Musically, I put this ahead of the live version on Warren's live album. Love that riff continuing on at the end. Are the Wallflowers still around? And if so, do they rock this hard live?

  • @MrRexkern Sadly, the Wallflowers are no longer around, but they were amazing live. I saw them three times, they are one of my favorite bands ever.

Jakob just released his second solo album. It's very good, but a completely different style of music from the Wallflowers, not the kind of thing you're going to hear on Top 40 radio. He is such a talented singer/songwriter.

  • @bluetulip326 At first I only liked Jakob's solo stuff, because I got into that before I really listened to the Wallflowers. Now I can't stop listening to the Wallflowers. I hope they do some more stuff together. What do you think? Think it'll happen?

  • Jakob always reminds me of his Dad. But this one does especially. And I mean that as a compliment.

  • i love the line "the shit has hit the fan"

  • There is no Hall of Fame on this planet that is worthy of Warens music

  • Jordan wailing, "Dad, get me out of this" brought me to tears. RIP, Warren.

  • Pirate's treasure!

  • i like how they had Jordan do the "dad get me out of this" part. On the recording Jacob Dylan says "Warren get me out of this"

  • Wow, it seems like the older Jacob Dylan gets the more he looks like his old man. But I guess that's the truth for most of us.

  • Rockin...Well Done...!

  • Brilliant. The only version that could possibly stand up to Warren's original.

  • Jakob Dylan never smiles. Almost like singing and playing is a chore. Lighten up a little. Geez.

  • He's just pissed of because he knows he can never break out from under his father's shadow.

  • Bob,

The bald headed guy you referred to is Jordan Zevon Warren's son which is why he said Daddy get me out of this.

  • That's a lyric from the original song. It fits well, well, perfectly, in this tribute.

  • I was so surprised at how well they did this song. Best cover ever of Lawyers, Guns and Money.

  • Wow, this is an absolutely amazing performance... I'm speechless... Glad to see the offspring of two incomparable musical legends perform together, and so well at that!

  • They censored the "s_hit" bit ??!!

  • They self-censored it. I think they left that stanza out completely on the CD mentioned in this clip. I actually bought the CD based on seeing this very clip.... the recorded version is nowhere near as good as this, IMO. Dylan sings "...lawyers, guns, and money.... WARREN get me out of this" which is a cop out. Which makes Jordan singing it so passionately in this clip even better.

  • WZ's original song is complete on the excellent "Excitable Boy" album however take care with compilation WZ albums. A "Best Of..." compliation I purchased a few years ago eliminates the entire last verse ie. the "I'm hiding in Havana..." including the s_hit bit.

Detracts greatly from the song IMO.

  • I agree 100%. I got a greatest hits album with that same thing.

  • Comment removed

  • Not to sound stupid, but which one is Jordan?

  • The bald one on guitar.

  • Alright, thanks. Just after I posted that, I listened to the album version, and I noticed the line "Warren, get me out of this"- then, listening to this one, Jordan says "Dad, get me out of this", so I kinda figured it out. But thanks.

  • i would assume it would be the bald guy who sings "daaaaaaaaaaaaad get me out of this"

  • Actually, on the original it's "Dad."

  • Jordan needs his Dad's hair.

  • All I can say is if you cant see the GENIUS in anything Warren Zevon did you must be an IDIOT! His son brings it home with the love for his fallen father! Jacob is slowly coming into his own! BOTH OF THESE BOYS HAVE HUGE SHOES TO FILL! MONSTER SHADOWS TO COME OUT FROM BEHIND!

  • Well said, BEERMONSTER. :)

  • Jordan and Jakob-- the son's of two epic poets ...the irony is our pleasure--more great music, great cover, and tribute to Warren...

  • @tundraahugo Incorrect use of irony!! Argh!!

  • @RazelG OK, RazelG, so apparently you're the mind/ word police and know my thought process to know the purpose of my choice of words. Get over yourself-- it is not an incorrect use of the term in how I envision the irony. Since, you're so quick to judge me, I won't bother to take the time to explain.

  • The

    Blank

    has hit the fan.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • I think the word you're looking for is SHIT

  • I know. I was being facetious.

Sorry Buckethead fans, that means sort of like sarcastic or mildly jesting.

  • Or even feculent..... No offence...

  • ha!

  • i am not a fan of the wallflowers but i really like their cover of this song

  • That's I call Rock 'n Roll! , the Wallflowers transcends the song, Jordan help for an epic version. Warren tranquil sleep may..Wow!

  • Fuck man. Just read the Warren bio after being a lifelong fam. Feel conflicted, but I can't discount the man's genius and the power of his music. He is a rock God. Love you Warren. RIP.

  • Hey ricbob, I felt the same way after reading the book, but eventually came to the conclusion that he was in fact just as fallible and insecure as the rest of us (we really expect more of our heroes, don't we!) I suppose It's okay that he wasn't perfect, look at what he gave us.

Incredible, thought-provoking (sometimes an asshole) honest, brave Warren Zevon. You're in our hearts, you beautiful bastard.

  • I felt the same way after reading the Clapton Bio--it ain't all pretty, but it's honest on both bios- That's the problem-they are human like us..but we put them on a pedestal, and we give them difficult standards to keep and achieve. And reflect upon the genius of his own mind--that itself could be a problem and keep a person medicating ....I love his talent to this day--

  • warren zevon should be in the rock hall of fame

  • For fuck's sake, yes he should.

  • @BuddyKatt

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a JOKE

    Warren Zevon is NOT

Why would any one like Zevon want to be equivocated with ABBA

  • @bkeay100

dude your a joke, you seem like that guy who sits around telling people about the man and how he's trying to control us, and secondly he would also be equivocated with, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Neil Young, Paul SImon, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, and if you ask most of them the hall of fame is one of the few things in that industry that isn't a joke, it's the award that means the most to a lot of them. so don't be a tool

  • @BuddyKatt He would be if he was more friendly no doubt

  • @BuddyKatt Your So Right!

  • @BuddyKatt its a crime he s not

  • @BuddyKatt The rock hall of fame is not good enough for Warren

  • @srvfan454 Right with you!

  • This really is beautiful on so many levels.

It's a great tribute to Warren, when Jordan sings "Dad get me out of this" it gives me goosebumps.

This is also the children of Bob Dylan and Warren Zevon playing together, that's just awesome.

  • nice tribute-warren is smiling!

  • "Ain't it fun when you feel you just gotta buy a gun"

    (SEND 'EM ALL!)

  • The Wallflowers and Jordan Zevon were incredible in their homage while making the song their own. I like this better than the original, the repeat of the chorus at the end was a nice touch.

  • Not bad.... though, I miss Warren, may he rest in peace.

  • No. Jordan. Warren died in 2003.

  • I would expect him to do his own version.

  • It was a nice tribute. I like their rendition of the song. I think Warren was looking down and smiling.

  • Warren toasted raising a bottle of vodka!

  • Musically, totally aside from the vocals and personality, this version just doesn't rock like the original.

It's hard to describe what I mean, but this just sounds too smooth, too polished, almost perfunctory somehow, there's none of the raw energy that Zevon had in his bad old drunken days.

In all honesty, Warren Zevon himself was rather insipid after he sobered up. It seems a shame that great art is so often self-destructive.

  • Yep, R3, I believe "raw" energy" would be the operative term. Totally lacking.

  • Far too fast, and missing the feeling

  • Jacob sure sounds more like bruce springsteen than his father

  • To be fair, anything but Warren doing this will be less-than-fantastic.

As for Jakob never smiling, Bob never really does, either. I once saw him in concert and he played 2h15m, never spoke a word to the audience, and barely cracked a grin.

  • Cords are D,A and E

  • Does anyone know the chords to this version?

  • Warren played the 12 string with a capo on the 2nd fret. G, C and D.

    rock it that way.

  • Thanks for that... I'm gonna learn this song.

  • i love the way you can tell who they are by the way they look and sound im a big fan of their parents and them for that matter

  • Jordan should be singing the lead.

  • It's too funny seeing the differences between Jakob Dylan and Warren Zevon...just watching Warren perform it's obvious he's been through a lot and played an important part in many lives while Dylan seems jaded and detached. For further evidence check out Wallflowers/Springsteen playing One Headlight. Long live Zevon.

  • You'd be jaded too if your dad was Bob Dylan. Covers are rarely as good as the originals, and they did an admirable job with this one. It's a good tribute to a great artist.

  • I have always said that Jakob never looks like he is having fun. Has this guy ever smiled??

  • beautiful

  • lol cute

  • favorite part is 1:24-32

    love Jacob Dylan

    love Jordan Zevon

    love Warren Zevon

even love Bob Dylan for that matter

  • Really like this drummer.

  • The shit HAS hit the fan.

    Great version/performance.

  • Great performance. Love Warren Zevon. The shit has hit the fan!!!!!

  • awesome, awesome, awesome R.I.P. Warren!

  • Jordan and Jacob both look so much like their fathers. Nice job here!

  • Yep They do and good rendition obvioussly against the clock. Sooo cool and so 007 YEAH!!

  • Ditto behindthecamera - Nothing else need be said.........

  • If it gets any better than this--a great song by a great songwriter sung by the children of Warren Zevon and Bob Dylan--I can't imagine what it would be.

We miss you, Warren. RIP. And to Jordan: Rock on, man, Rock on.

  • two grate men singing a good song enough said

  • I really miss Warren..God bless you sir

  • It's always good to see good videos...

  • Just an observation: Jordan plays left-handed. Don't see that very often.

  • it's only the best , nothing better

  • Brilliant!

  • Yea zen , there are some real retards in the world like 219970 now they all have internet access to post their retarded thoughts.

  • I believe that Jacob has a better grip on his dads famous status than you do.

  • I wear big boots

    I know I do

    I ain't envious

    Of anybody's shoes

    I wear em' loose

    Now maybe that's

    Why it bothers you

  • What a fucking stupid and jealous thing to say about Jacob..

    How old are you 9?

  • of course; he is Dylan's son...

  • The lead singer is Bob Dylan's younger double!

  • When his son sings that line, it gives me chills...Awesome.

  • I legitimately couldn't tell who Jordan Zevon was until he started singing. With that voice he has to be Warren's son.

  • I met Warren Zevon in Virginia Beach about 12-13 years ago. Had tix to his concert that night and went and hung out at the venue where he was playing. Caught him exiting after his sound check and he sat there and talked with my wife and I like we were old friends. We probably BS'd for about 20 minutes. Never once did he try to rush us off. He was an incredibly, kind and gracious man not to mention an incredible talent. We miss you Warren. Rock on Jordan. You have the DNA of greatness.

  • jakob should worry less about emulating his dad and take note from Jordan's passion...

  • this shows how little you know about Jakob, he has NEVER tried to emulate his father in any way

  • jakob should worry less about emulating his dad and take note from Jordan's passion...

  • I don't think about Dylan when I listen to this or watch this. I just think of Warren Zevon and how much he kicked ass with songs like this. This is one of absolute favorite songs by him.

My favorite part is "I am the innocent bystander/ somehow I got stuck/ between a rock and a hard place/and I'm down on my luck". Amen.

  • have the CD since it came out n was glad to spend the money..if Warren were still alive you can best be assured he would be reading any of this crap

  • Oh hell yes!! Jordan and Jakob! <3

  • Jakob can sing the ABC's and I will listen as long as I can see his pretty face.

  • Beautiful. Thank you much.

  • Awesome! (what the hell does religion have to do with this song?!) Um, this version is superb, I taped it, it's in storage somewhere, thanks a lot for posting this. Great E Steet band sound on this version (must be the organ? Jacob's voice?) One of Warren's best, in my personal top 5.

  • Can someone sane explain to me in language I can understand how religion and whether children are as good as their dads? This is a respectful tribute by excellent musicians to a late, great performer. Thank you, whoever you are related to and whatever God you worship, for sharing this with us. I hope no one asks your religion, or whether your dad would have done a better job. I, for one and for what it is worth, are grateful to you for the enjoyment you brought me. Everything else is irrelevant.

  • Dave and Warren were buddies, it's cool that he had these guys on his show

  • dylan's son really looks like him at some parts of this video. you can really see a resemblance.

  • A good version of a great song.

    Warren Zevon...R.I.P.

  • Course he ain't - but I can hear the similiarities (almost slightly Bruce) but not a poor rendition - and ditto comment 'bout referencing being dylan's son - who said that ? how hard must that be to live up to his bobness (LOL) I enjoyed it anyway x rox x

  • Jordan's not Warren.

  • Obviously a well placed keen observation on your part. Being that one came from the other's loins. Hence not a clone but a son.

Jordan's not trying to be his father. He's trying to honer him.

I think he does a good job in doing just that!

Your idiotic reply isn't needed so don't bother!
