  • great tips, and this girl is so beautiful and sweet

    who is she?

  • Her name is Lee and she used to work for me about 5 years ago , I said, wear that dress tomorrow you wone to the Christmas party, I want to use you in a section of Digital Lighting Magic (the training DVDs) I did that had this section in it. She said sure. We normally only saw her in tee shirts and pants , working in the shipping room, so it was a big change for all of us. She has sort of a Julia Roberts look to her. She was perfect for this section.

  • yes, a Julia Roberts meets Candice Bergen looks :-)

how old was she when you filmed this?

  • 23 I think, Think shes about 29, 30 now, still looks great. I see her around town once or twice a year.

  • thank you... amazing tips! I really enjoyed this!

  • @corneliuswashington the result says whether or not it was correct and the result was stunning. There are no hard fast rules to art. Two lights made it evenly lit. The hair was fine.

  • 45 degree angle from top to bottom or 45 degree to the side?

  • Both 45 from top and side

  • Thanks for this. Any tips for black and white in the outdoors ?

  • 1. Wait for the sunrise or sunset (or 1 -2 before for great shots.

    2. Bring different color clothes as they can look different in black and white than you think.

    3. Try using a polorizer filter or colored filters (yes, even thought its b and w) for different effect..

    4. Play with the contrast in photoshop (or similar program) after the fact for the emotion you are trying to get across.

    5. Be careful not to have the background brighter than the foreground, use a reflector on subject if needed.

  • I have no idea what your saying for being distracted by the most adorable model I have ever seen. I think I'm just a little bit in love, = }

  • Why wasn't it correct to put two lights on the hair? I am always up for suggestions and improvements. Thats how I learn.

  • Excellent! Old school lighting is fun and beautiful, now with the avent of the full frame with hd recording capabilities espect to see videos not just still pictures shot like that too. Cheers!

  • Amazing results for such a simple rig. I'm tempted to get your DVD's now. The girl is really attractive too.

  • great video, learned a lot, im gonna try it out with my own strobes.

  • let me know if it works with strobes vs fresnels, I'm not sure you will get the same results from strobes, (as you need the focused lights, but it possible.
