  • Waited till the end, and what a wait! Rated this incredible, but INDESCRIBABLE would be better. Nothing like a guitar "god" giving credit where credit is due: Duane is positively otherworldly during his "Circle Be Unbroken" solo!

  • Thanks Scotia Dave! As others have said, anything with Duane in it is priceless! I saw an interview with the guy who bought the Big House who said they were in the process of s l o w l y and painstakingly trying to piece together BOXES of old,old film...apparently there is quite a lot of it, but it disintegrates over the years. I hope profits from the museum will go toward helping to restore that treasure trove.

  • It's great to see young people who enjoy this improv jamming. Duane was a pioneer for sure and one of a kind. Dickie Betts ,in my opinion, is highly under rated.

Duane is definitely large and in charge on this video but Dickie is the one hittin' the notes and playing most of the lead.

  • End of an era.....can't remember how many times I saw the ABB, but sadly without Duane....RIP

The Eat a Peach version was always the "Mastered" version of mountain jam to me, this one's the improv version, just my opinion.

  • Awsome footage; great job.

To the younsters that want to lead the 'back to real music revolution': Duane, the most soulfull guitarist ever, when asked how he felt about the revolution (of the '60's), said: there is no revolution man, there is only evolution. :)

  • Wow, thanks Dave. Really great synch job. I saw the whole band twice, once with Berry. It really brings back great memories.

  • How odd that two of them will meet their demise on the same road! Duane is a god!

  • Thanks for posting these! We're coming up on 40 years since the concert. Pretty amazing and quite awesome!

  • 21! hell yea lets get that revolution going!

  • That guitar part seems to be right on the money - well done

  • Loosely based on "Will The Circle Be Unbroken"? It is quite heavily based on Donovan's "There is a Mountain."

  • Until I saw this I never realized that "Mountain Jam" was loosely based on "Will The Circle Be Unbroken." This is a truly unique performance. Let us hope that there was a camera on Dicky as well during the dual guitar interplay.

  • damn....

  • Too much. Man, they were on a mission, for sure. The passion is palpable. The freshness was there. Sadly, they should've left it there...

  • I loved Fillmore East and Eat A Peach but watching this series reminds me of why the punk thing got started. Louder, Faster, Shorter as we used to say. What a breath of fresh air it was. As a period piece and a display of fine musicianship, this is still a wonderful video. Thank you so much for all your posts and hard work, Scotiadave.

  • are you serious? sure the punk thing was great, but look where we are now?! The music fuckin blows now, and anybody that IS making good music is either broke and unheard of, or semi-pro and barley making a living. Nobody appreciates musical talent and improvisation.

  • I agree that when punks start talking about how their so-called music is THE shit, end all of rock-n-roll, they're treading on thin ice. That's why it died so quickly. Too fucking fascist with not much to back it up, as much as I liked some of it.

  • Absolutely right. Most audiences now-a-days will go ballistic if bands diverge away from a song or improvises over a groove. People used to go to shows to hear music. Now people basically go to shows to SEE the band play the same songs they listen to on their iPod. Led Zeppelin and Allman Brothers are my two favorite live acts because they go any where and show off their musicianship in an awesome way. BTW, I'm only 16 and am trying to lead the classic rock/blues revolution we need! \m/

  • hell ya kid! I hear ya, im on that same crazy path....lets hope we start a revolution, or something close to it

    Long Live Duane and Berry!!!

  • how about the grateful dead! one of the greatest improvisers id say

  • Nice to read this. Im 16 and i play the drums. Jazzy/blues feels, and Bonham/Paice feels. Maybe we'll meet up in life and i could join your revolution.

  • Awesome!

  • Yeah, man. Love the ABB and Zep. I'm also 16 and trying to lead the same revolution!!!

  • I forgot to mention Cream as one one of my favorite live bands too. Doh! Long live Cream-era EC!

  • 15, same revolution

  • Amen my brother!!!!

  • the demand is alive I'm twenty-five and I can't get enough

  • Absolutely beautiful!! Even Butch on Tympani, never have seen that. Thanks Dave, many thanks. We fans should start a fund, or whatever, and see if we can't get the money raised to have these tapes restored and available for the public.

  • Why in the hell are we still waiting for all the original Allman Brothers concert videos to be released? The demand isn't going to be there if we aren't alive!!!

  • So happy to see the original ABB lineup in video. Thank you Dave!

  • This is so good; kind of strange seeing Dickey hanging in the back though.

  • he might be really high ahah

  • @Jamdor78 agree and not complaining at all but dickey coulda got a bit more

picking cam time but any duane is priceless berry too

  • Many thanks for posting these. I had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that I would never see any film like this, that such treasures either didn't exist, or were just being kept from public view for one reason or another. You proved me wrong, seeing the original lineup in full force is really heaven for me, albeit a little sad.

  • Thanks so much for posting these clips, scotiadave! I am almost overwhelmed watching this footage of Duane and Berry, especiallyhaving just finished Randy Poe's book. Outstanding!

  • This is great. I am a big fan of the original ABB and Duane. I live in NC where the festival took place in 1970.

  • Scott, thanks so much! Man, there's gotta be more out there...Duane and Berry are timeless.

  • absolutely cool...been waiting a long time for those. All is copesetic once again with the world, thanks(to you and the band)

  • Thanks Scotiadave, this is too good to be true...the question is why doesn't Gregg Allman have these videos cleaned up and sell it as one?

  • They have them, and some have been cleaned up, but there is astronomical costs involved dealing with the reels. Maybe one day ..... until then, we'll have to suffer these teasers :-) Dave

  • @Skyman46 I was told by a man that works at the big house , they are saving these videos for there retirement

  • more more more. I know its out there, it's just a matter of time. As for this thank you Scotiadave

  • I'm beginning to get suspicions that there is a lot more too, and that the band's organization aren't to fussed about letting us see it .... or know about it.

  • where did you get all these great vids?

  • long story :-)

  • @Scotiadave would love to hear the story dave. once again.. thanks for this treasure!

  • What a treat. There is so little footage of of the first great lineup of the band performing together that it's almost overwhelming to see so much of a complete performance by them. Thanks for posting all of this. :-)

  • doesn't get much better :-)

  • YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Spectacular! Thanks ScotiaDave!!

  • Dave, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for all the time and effort putting audio to this great video footage. YOU DA MAN!! Can't get enough Duane!!

  • Alright !
