please could you tell me how to do the switching please because i have a puma 1.7 and know how to unplug it manually but dont have a clue how to make a switch for it lol
lol the clio 182 is not a joke..he was skidding at 40mph when accelerating.I went up against one and he was taking the piss...but you dont wanna crash in a clio though.
how is that 175 bhp with those mods? thats wishful thinking unless you have an frp which you dont this as the standard inlet only flows enough air for 160 bhp so unless you have throttle bodies or an frp inlet then your probably only pushing 135-40 bhp
whoever told you you have 175 bhp is having a laugh with you
it was dyno'd on two different occasions 1st time producing 163 bhp then 172 after the new cams, the engineer bet his house it wouldn't be over 170 but it was lol. good engine i guess. sold now anyway. Supra 3lt TT ;)
@overweightbadger I would expect 0-60mph in under 10s if it was a 1.7. It shows that all the modifications have slowed the car down. Boy racers often suffer this way because they don't know how engines work - they just buy things based on figures plucked from the air. You should be looking at 6s 0-60mph. Someone is telling him porkies about the conversion figures and BHP. What he is looking at is the flywheel BHP, not the figure from the wheels, so subtract at least 25BHP. 140BHP is right!!!
is that seriously 175hp? thats a joke, its slower accelerating than my stripped at zetec s with puma engine and gearbox. big wheels dont help. but seriously either the rr was badly out, or pumaspeed did a shit job once again, either way id want my money back!
@siggers1234 oh dear, the figures keep changing all the time. Should we settle for it being much much faster than a Honda Civic Type R with twice as many BHP, but twice as slow, even slower than a standard Puma! Companies lie to get your money or quote a figure but not tell you accurately to what it refers or how it was measured. That is how the boy racer parts market works. Rolling roads measure BHP at the flywheel and wheels, people tend to quote the higher flywheel one. Keep dreaming!
Why not just buy a saxo VTS? Nah, i'm kidding don't. They fall apart. I've had two now, never again. Looks quite quick, with the 1.7 in it, but just seems like so much work to get it only a little faster. What's the top end on it? Have you raced any VTS's? I've read the standard time on a Fiesta Zs is 10.2 seconds to 60, surely you can get it there quicker than that?
Its more than just a little bit faster, its over a 60bhp increase. Mine was running 172.5bhp and given it only weighs 950kg thats a power to weight ratio of around 210bhp. My best 0 - 60 was 6.8secs recorded on a laptop via OBD port, that was after i have the close ratio gearbox fitted. Only ran the standard 1.6 box in that video
id love to have a crack against that in my 182 clio (lightly modded) it looks pretty fast! my friend has the same conversion and his is well off that sort of pace, he thought he could beat me and was miles behind, then he tried against my dad who has a fiesta st (standard) and lost to that aswell (very close tho)
Is that a phase 1 or 2 zetec s? the phase 2 have a slightly longer gear ratio which helps get 60 in 2nd gear with the raised limiter.
Its a racing puma geabox with LSD and better than racing puma engine so it has the super short ratio box, in that video I was just running the std 1.6 box, crap ratios! Think your clio would definatly have the edge, raw power where as the fez has a very narrow power band rev limits at 7,500rpm
the clio could definatly do with a LSD in the wet as it can become a right handfull to control. I bet you suprise a few people on the road tho, even tho his 1.7 fiesta wasnt running quite right it would embarass much cars 106 gti/ saxo vts/ corsa gsi, certainly got my dad going when he couldnt shake it off untill 100mph lol
hes now running with a standard 1.7 gearbox which has a much longer 2nd gear for some reason but the same on all the other ratios
Holy Cow, sounds nice
