  • Scrubs is just an awesome show, the combination between the goofy comedy and the drama and the intense scenes is amazing and I think it's appealing to a lot of people.

  • I just have to ask.... would they really do an autopsy AFTER the organs have been given out? Wouldn't they wait for the results in case there was something wrong with them? Just curious

  • @PeacockDreams19 They had to make the decision to use the organs more quickly than usual. Like J.D. said, he had to make a call in a number of hours, otherwise the patients would've died anyway.

  • @SmashKitten yeah, just didn't think it was allowed, but....it's not real I suppose :D

  • those 20second are a master pieace of acting

    no words can describe them

  • I can't fail to laugh at "What the hell are you?... I'm the Todd" JESUS, spark of brilliance there.

  • McGinley deserved an emmy for this episode

  • What the hell are you?

    Im the Tod :)

  • The Fray + Scrubs = Perfect.

  • Love how this episode shows that Cox despite his experience, and his confidence is still human.

  • omg I'm crying. best scrubs episode ever! :'( Dr. Cox I love you!!

  • I've cried every time i've ever watched this. probably at least 2 dozen times.

  • I love how when Dr Cox leaves at the end, the door doesn't slam shut, but stays a little open, just after JD says 'when you start blaming yourself there's not coming back', to show that even though he did blame himself, he could still come back from it :)

  • I love that you get to see what an amazing nurse Carla is in this episode.

  • This episode is the tv show episode ever made. It is amazing how they were able to be extremely funny in one moment and seconds later, they make everyone have tears in their eyes. At the end you instantly think about deaths in your own surroundings. A true masterpiece, the peek of the tv show and a wonderful contribution to the art form.

  • a friend of ours passed away yesterday. he was about to turn 18. unfortunately i didnt get to meet him until he was already sick, i only hope his doctors were as dedicated as scrubs plays doctors out to be =(

  • "I was sad cause my dad died" "I wasnt."

This last 3 minutes just shows how amazing Scrubs really is. Laughing your ass off at one part then... crying your eyes out at the next. Best acting/show ever

  • you know... i tried titanic, i tried forrest gump, i tried every damn movie that people said they cried at...

there are 2 things that can make me cry every time i see it nevermind what heppens..

this amazing piece of art called "my lunch" and the sad part when simba shouts wake up daddy... can't hold myself

  • @kakakunuka I thought "My Old Lady", and "My Screw Up" were pretty sad. I don't really find this scene as sad as others because I'm a big fan of the Fray and this music is calming to me.

  • the Todd is confused...lmaoo

  • so the todd is omnisexual?

  • That was.............so sad:,(

  • "What the hell are you ?"

    "I'm the Tod"

  • Oh my gosh, when I saw that last scene my mouth just hung open.

  • Ever notice how this show always picks the most appropriate songs for its scenes?

  • I'm The Todd......in my opinion that should end all arguments :)

  • Johnny C. definitely should've won an Emmy for this episode, or at least been nominated. Amazing.

  • 3:41 no...noooooooooooooo >_<

  • I hate this episodes in the whole series ... when Dr Cox gets so depressed cause he was holding his feelings for a long time since Ben's death (Jordan's Brother) ...

and he reaches to his limit in this one.... its so sad ... :(

  • Best episode :(

  • this episode always make my heart hurt

  • that last scene had the best acting i honestly have ever seen. the actors had me feeling like i was in the room with them. i'm still crying

  • Four or so years later and I still cr-- Er, get slightly emotional. When the hell will the immunity to this scene start to build up?

  • J.D.: Remember what you told me? The second you start blaming yourself for peoples' deaths there's no coming back.

    Dr. Cox: Yeah, you're right.....

greatest scrubs episode along with "My Fallen Idol"

  • "What the hell are you?" "I'm the Todd". I always crack up at that scene, but I always know the sad scene comes after that.

  • 3:05 todd's most intelligent face i've ever seen...

  • 6:00 gets me everytime, sends chills down my spine

  • i kinda cried..

  • Best episode ever.

  • the scene from 5:35 is probably one of the best (serious) scenes of scrubs

  • I like how theofficialscrubs edited this part three as it shows the contradiction of what cox said in the beginning

  • this episode is the best and most powerful one in the whole series

  • 4:09...I swear that is Denise from the later seasons...

  • @vvsimonvv It's not

  • What name of song where Cox trying to save patient's life ?

  • @WinterMisha How to Save a Life by the Fray

  • JD and Cox's relationship in this ep is amazing. Seeing Cox break down was absolutely emotional because hes such a tough character to break. Scrub directors: Geniuses.

  • Acting

  • This and the next episode are probably two of the best. It's heartbreaking to see the strongest character beaten.

  • Whos the actor for Dr Cox, cos he's amazing at doing emotional stuff. I know 99% of the time in the show, he's just acting as a funny condesending doctor, but when he gets emotional, he's effing amazing

  • @indyistheshiz John G. McGinley. You're so right. When he's hit, he's hit hard.

  • who dislikes this videos? really like its amazing almost brought me to tears multiple times

  • I hate that i've seen this too many times. It doesn't affect me as much as it used to. It still does but I no longer get tears in my eyes. I need to take a break from watching Scrubs for a bit... :(

  • The most touching episodes of scrubs

    Such great acting

  • Im the Todd. haha

  • brilliant acting in that scene 1 of the best in all the scrubs episodes

  • I can never work in a hospital. I'd feel guilty everytime someone dies.

  • That last scene showed what a great actor McGinley is, and why he has been in so many films!

  • it crazy how much jd really cares about dr. cox. and vice verse best scene in scrubs. may except the finale. but season 5 has to be the most touching season. especially if levern 's death episode would have been in it. and amazing song to go along with an amazing scene. great work. my favorite show of all times. wish more could have been made.

  • The best choice of music ever.

  • I love how Scrubs can go from a scene with The Todd, straight into possibly the best scene in the whole series with Dr Cox.

  • I must comment again because...by now, I have watched this episode about a million times. But...every single time that damn song starts, every time the piano begins to float through my ear buds, tears instantly spring to my eyes.

Seeing the people die...and Good Lord, Cox screaming at the machine, begging for it to work...

Before I started to watch Scrubs, I thought it was just another modern comedy about goofy doctors. But...oh how wrong I was.

    This episode was too gorgeous.

  • @MultiMaige i couldn't agree with you more.

  • so when dr. cox said he's seen it happen to a hell of a lot of good doctors he was talking about himself as well

  • poor cox...its weird i put myself in this show so deeply,i feel like i feel their pain

  • @MegaGymnast2003 Yeah me too This episode is beautiful it shows that Dr Cix as feelings and is a Good human been

  • i love how obvious it is that carla is the only nurse doctor cox trusts

  • it is so frustrating that the last guy could have waited 1 more month for another kidney so him getting jill's kidney was not urgent imagine this was real life and you are in the position of Dr. Cox it really would suck :S

  • :'(

  • Even hitting rock bottom dr cox still calls JD " nooby" I really love that guy

  • I cry every time I watch this episode. But it's my favorite. :'(

  • How to save a life. This song is so beautiful.

  • The Todd is neither hetero-sexual or homo-sexual, he's omni-sexual, and he's awesome!

  • Without a doubt one of my favourite shows ever.

  • Omg....this episode really touched me :(

  • This scene is just......amazing .

  • Most Amazing Scrubs scene

  • song name at 4:25

  • @adamotors65 The Fray - How To Save A Life

  • I almost cried at the end of this episode

  • @Thegamemasterof123 I'm a pretty manly man, and i'm not afraid to say i was balling at the end of this, it's so effective

  • @kavan8 yeah it's the worst to see that you had the chance to change things around after looking at the result. :S

  • JD's character was really strong in this episode. Kudos to Zach Braff and the writers.

  • Of course, they use one of the most tear-jerking songs for the end. ; w ;

This really was a great episode. Though I absolutely adore the comedy in this show, I equally love the drama, the heart-wrenching moments.

  • Why cant I play this on my iPod but I'm able to play the other two parts

  • I actually had tears in my eyes when Dr.Cox freaked at the end and pushed the machine. Its sad when you get so close to somebody to have them ripped away

  • Cox shows more concern and respect for J.D. when at lunch he says " I'm not about to let that happen to you ", than he does any other time. The last 3 minutes of this episode are the most powerful in my opinion. Usually I hate the " moral of the story " shit that J.D. always does at the end b/c it kills the show, and I pretty much just watch the show for Cox's, Kelso's, and Ted's characters. You also see Cox's real side another time when he asks Kelso " How can you give him a death sentence ?"

  • Probably the most powerful moment in the whole series was contained in the last minutes of this episode.

  • Probably the most powerful moment in the whole series was contained in the last minutes of this episodes.

  • I have officially found my favorite episode of Scrubs.

  • I wish scrubs used more music

  • Dr. Cox is an amazing actor. How come he is not in more movies. He should be in every movie. <3

  • @Pterodactylincognito His name is John. C. McGinley

  • Cox, even though he berates the other doctors, is nothing more than them. he covers that up with insults. when his kidney patient dies and goes berserk, that is just like a headache to us. He is the best Scrubs character (drama wise, Janitor comedy wise)

  • @Tube23287

He's portrayed as having almost limitless knowledge in medicine, he's very empathic with his patients in a sense that he actually cares, but is not willing to show it too often and he's shown to have a superior understanding of everyone elses personal problems, he even understands his own problems, he's just not willing to fix them. Watch the other episodes and pay attention.

  • @sentimoko (puppet Ron voice) Wow.

  • This is exactly why I love Scrubs. Absolutely hilarious comedy and completely touching drama in 30 minutes. Everything works perfectly, and perfectly works with each other.

  • love u Dr Cox :)

  • This is one of the saddest episodes in Whole Scrubs, really hard to not shed a tear at the end.

  • This is, by and far, one of the most memorable episodes of Scrubs I ever seen. John C. McGinnley's performance just further cements his place in Hollywood as a phenomenal actor! This is one of the few shows I can honestly say I have truly laughed and cried over!

  • @hrlong1991 same here man

  • T_T

  • well im the juggernaut, bitch!

  • dr cox.....in this scene and when ben dies, just shows what an unbelievable actor he really is.

  • here you can what a brilliant actor John C. McGinley is

  • i love this episode the most cause bob is working! he is actually helping to save the patients

  • Todd is all around sexist

  • A phenomenal performance from John McGinley in this episode, paired with the beautiful (if a little over-used on television) music from The Fray, this episode really reminds you of why Scrubs is so different from all the other shows on TV. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Carla's sad face at 5:56 did it for me. :'( This really shows how brilliant Scrubs can be, not just at comedy but at anything. Top writers and actors.

  • that the best doctor cox moment, john should be proud of himself

  • this episode had me ugly crying

  • Really shows you the reality of being in medicine-even people who have never been through it. My best friend is training to be a nurse at the moment, and while it's the perfect job for her, it seems to be slowly turning her to stone (she's pretty much like Carla, actually). While I'll never know the reality of the career path these people take, they really go to show that it's not an easy life, but eventually show it's damn worth it, overall :) I love this show.

  • Damn Ventricular Tachycardia , you win again.

  • Dr. Cox really has a heart. Can't judge him on his teaching methods he really loves his job and takes to heart.

  • Tod = NO Standards. Shit Crazy

  • no joke. i cried watching that. and i don't cry.

  • 2:45

  • This part always makes me cry, it's so sad..

  • They are amazing actors.

  • i had to cry the second where cox kicks around. the song was so powerful right then...

  • All these people who comment about the tod, anyone take the time to think that this actually happens all the time?

  • Aw this episode was really sad.

    Poor Dr.Cox. ): <3

  • Man this episode made me tear up.

  • I keep telling myself i'm too manly to cry at this, but i always end up blubbing.

  • they shouldnt have added the todd being gay n jill dying in the same ep it should have had focused just on jill make one full sad ep woukld have been great

  • @nwolwo but then it would have been like any medical drama..what made scrubs great was that it was able to seamleslly bring together topics involving sadness and comedy quite often.

  • Oh my god. The story and Cox's acting hits me SO hard every time! 8(

  • No real doctor would give patients a dead person's organs without figuring out the cause of death first...regardless of how much time the receivers have. >_>

  • @Michael326 They thought the cause of death was due to overdose as there was found traces of heroine in her bloodstream. They made the prosthesis that since she'd been in there before due to overdose and drug-related stuff, she prolly died due to overdose as she was very depressed.

  • @TeachMeProperDancin Let me rephrase that: No real doctor would give a patient a dead person's organs without first hearing the autopsy report...regardless if the receiver is about to die. Liability would be too high.

  • @Michael326 good thing there not real doctors and its just a tv show then aye

  • @Michael326 this episode was based on an actual story somewhere in America where a couple of patients where given an organ transplant from the same person and it turned out a couple days later that the organ and the person who they belonged to had died from rabies

  • @fucktard570 Did the patients family sue?

  • @Michael326 i dont know the newspapers did not mention if they sued or not

  • @Michael326 They actually got this from something that happened in real life in 2004, crazy, but true.

  • I think its no coincidence that some of the most emotional scenes involve Dr. Cox. He's just sucha damn good actor!

  • so sad

  • when Cox screams and pushes the machine I get goosebumps everytime

  • Oh Dr. Cox...

I always cry at this episode...

  • my god that was a great episode

  • I always cry during this episode... I just can't help it... ;_;

  • My favorite episode of all time <3

  • 3:40

That was one of the quickest yet subtle mood transitions I've ever seen in a show...

    Scrubs is awesome

  • strongest moment in the show. best scrubs ever

  • So the Todd is Bi?

  • @weirdguy75 no he is THE TODD

  • Idk hich show was sadder when Dr Cox lost his best friend or this 1, I maybe a tough man but all guys cry sometimes

  • this truly shows how Dr Cox cares about J.D.

  • The Todd is pansexual.

  • I always wanted to be a doctor especially because of my two parents who are. But watching this episode I think that will be hard to bear to have someone's life in my hands, to do their utmost to save her but fail. :(

  • oh god poor dr. cox

  • Wow, the most powerful moment in the series... and the top 2 comments are about the Todd. That's just sad, youtube. :(

  • @DAVN121 i almost criend after this episode

the reason for those comments is because the world is filled with perved bastards

  • @DAVN121 so's yours.

  • @DAVN121 aka i want the top comment

  • @wowthese I didn't expect to get any thumbs up when I made it, but U mad bro?

  • @DAVN121 when u say u mad bro its not supposed to be a capital U and that doesnt apply to this situation

  • by far the saddest ending of scrubs ever

  • @frisky170 i think the last episode was. i actually cryed and im a guy!

  • @Megatonaxe i hope the "last episode" on the eigth season. the ninth season was just bad. they had a great thing going and then they ruined it

  • @frisky170 it is the 8th

  • wow the ending had me in tears... If Cox leaves the show will suck.

  • wow they transplanted before they tested the organs? ? ? I hope this doesn't happen in rl! LoL doubt it.

  • @Sarahfoot98 yea i dont think it would normally happen, but 2 out of the 3 people were about to die so they had to give them a fighting chance and transplant immediately. dr cox's mistake was immediately transplanting the kidney guy who didnt need it at that moment

also, this episode was based on a real life occurrence. 3 people got a transplant that was infected with rabies and died

  • @TheTruthHurts129 Wow, crazy!

  • This is easily one the most dramatic scenes in this series, becasue it's true and it happens.

  • Honestly, I feel that Dr. Cox's complete and total anger, as well as his voice as he asks J.D. that final question caused as much pain inside as Carla's moments with Laverne.

  • this is by far my favorite episode. great song, great ending. just an all around great episode. probably the one episode besides the ben and laverne dying episodes that brought tears to my eyes

  • Comment removed

  • This would have been an amazing season 5 ender. I mean, that last scene was brilliantly put together.

  • 5:30 to 6:00, the first time i saw this i almost cried and i felt so bad for dr. cox
