  • Oh and the music was great as well!!!!

  • I loved this as a kid... and also the Mysterious Cities Of Gold. Indeed cartoons in 80's were much more intelligent, inspiring and had moral messages. Now its all rubbish and shoot'em all. So glad to be able to watch it all again at 41 ! Thanks Kitty9584!!!

  • I have to say that kids shows today are heavily dumbed down. I don't think I could handle being a kid today. The 80s never underestimated kids understanding and tolerance for imagination.

  • this cartoon is full of metaphysics

  • Ulysses is the chuck jizeuusss' norris of 31th century :p

  • Thise series was originally a French/Japanese collaboration. So I guess the original(s) must have been in French or Japanese.

  • They dont make toons like this anymore!

  • 3 people will be taken by Zeus once they die..

  • always wondered where no no came from

  • Far more intelligent than say Ben 10. I thought it was just nostalgia but kids tv was actuallymuch better and darker back then. I could watch this now and I'm 31

  • the music more than anything reminds me of when i was a kid-brilliant

  • class

  • by the way iv heard that a mysterious cities of gold movie might be made soon!? ......any info folks coz iv not found any new yet?

  • this is what cartoons should be about, fun, and adventure, not a fucktarded mouse making kids sing stupid songs, dude Walt Disney must be crawling in his grave of anger....i remember i loved this when i was a kid....by the way, where these series made originally in english or spanish? cuz i remember the spanish version, it was the one i watched in Cuba, after 13 years i get to watch it again..

  • @elcanful the one that was played in Cuba was the version dubbed in Latin Spanish... it is available, at least, part of it, at mcanime.net. There is another version dubbed for Spain which I don't recommend since it sounds odd to us who remember the latin version from childhood. Great series, btw.

  • @RaoX77 dude now i know what imma get for my mom's birthday, she says she loved to watch ulysses 31, but she doesnt understand english very good so imma get her the spanish version :D

  • Brilliant. Im 29. I last saw this when i was 7! I always remembered the wee wimpish robot. Fantastic stuff!

  • Christ this brings back memories.

  • hey anyone remember Jayce and the wheeled warriors? i think it was on channel 4 (uk) very early in the morning

  • Thanks for posting! I remember that this was shown stupidly early in the morning in the UK. Too early for my parents anyway; I had to sneak down to watch this without waking them because they would send me back to bed.

  • Every saturday in the afternoon I watched this, 25 years ago I think. I loved it so so much. After it, I would go out and play and pretend to be Telemacus, of course.

  • I'm so glad i found this on Youtube.

i've never seen it back in the eighties, but i heard from it from friends ;)

they got the TV channel, i haven't had it. back then :(

    thx for uploading kitty

  • This was the Heavy Metal of cartoons. Intelligent and somewhat subversive, when you think about it. Deserves a re-run I think.

  • give it up for the old school folks !!! no cgi stuff which has its place but this takes craftmanship! those were the days says this older guy lol

  • @andytubeism hell yeah lol

  • We 80s kids had soo much....i feel sorry for the new kids they have MTVs Disaster date.....

  • otherworldly

  • this is before facebook, internet, iphones, mobile phones and so on.

a different world for kids as life was less connected and programmes like this were amazing, if you had an imagination

  • Its cute the way Yumi says, "How handsome he is." It sounds like she's attracted to Telemachus.

  • Thank you so much for posting this like many other comments this has brung back fond memories for me of my youth. it was by far my favourite cartoon as a child some 20 odd years ago.

  • I was 7/8 years old when this was on in the 80s, I must admit it brings a smile to my face. Things were a lot different back then. I was raised in the countryside, I remember being allowed to watch cartoons for an hour after school & this was always one of my favourites, then we were always kicked outside for the evening – we walked dogs, we climbed trees, we kicked footballs to pass the time. Nowadays, you can’t kids to switch off their DS’s & what not. I like to think we did it better

  • @gigoer Same here. I remember the cartoons that would ran between 3 and 4 on the syndicated channels for the kids that came home from school. Like yourself, we were allowed to watch our cartoons after which we would be kicked outside to play.

  • Dope-ass music! Epic series from my childhood!

  • I grew up watching and I never saw this episode. Thanks!

  • they just dont make em like this anymore... one of my faves as a kid

  • 2 bad they only did 26 ep plus i thout the do sumthing with yumi and tlemacus

  • The re-imagined greek mythologic scenario//psi-fi adaptation is superb, this show had really creative and bold minds behind it.

This kind of shows had a way of to make children use their imagination and spark their interest in stuff like literature and myths.

  • LOL...They're "friends" with the trojans...

  • @sstylianou, I agree, I will show my newborn son cartoons like this when he's old enough, forget spongebob squarepants

  • I like that part with the music at 2.06 for some reason it rocks they don't make cartoons like they use to anymore.:)

  • many thanks for posting. I grew up with this(in spanish), but the music and the images are all a flash back to my childhood!! When the closest thing to getting high was a sugar cereal induced coma!!!!!!!!

  • wish they would make movie of this

  • @lewie81 If they made a movie out of this cartoons, I would like to see Liam Neeson as Zeus, but not Sam Worthington as Hercules.

  • I think this has to be my all time favourite episode of this animated classic series.

  • i bet they based this on pleiadian, galactic federation..extraterrestrial races. Or aryan mtho.

  • Kitty9584 I salute you!!! this is one of the best cartoons of all time!

  • Giant space stations shaped like Greek helmets? Space togas? Robots and gods?

Could this show be any MORE awesome?!

  • By far the best cartoon series I've ever seen ...

  • Did you know that Jean Chalopin who was one of the creators of the serie, made Ulysses after his own face... when he was 31 years old.

  • I used to know a guy that looked like Nono....ha

  • His son has a really gay name lol

  • shit hot cartoon .Fond mems frm my youth

  • awesome learning ~*~

  • A kid of the 80's watches cartoons like Ulyesus and ThunderCats and becomes pretty mature over the years as the stroy lines are pretty deep and intelligent.

A kid of 2000 watches "Barney and Sponge BoB" which have no intellect at all and grow up dim in comparison..makes sense

  • These cartoon were based on Greek Mythology, its funny how in the 80s programs like this which were pretty mature and adult like were shown on chrildrens TV, I think thats great, helps bring you up with a maturer mindset,

I used to be totally silent and engrossed when these came on my young little mind soaked up the storys like a sponge.

These days kids have to watch "Sponge Bob Square Pants" no wonder the kids of today are out causing trouble.

Thank god im a child of the 1980's :D

  • So fuckin' retro from the 80s... and this series was SOOOOOO realistic and awesome

  • Think I was 12 when I was in to this.

    23 years later.....

    Thank you!!

  • @thatgammon Remember MCoG then ?

The Mysterious Cities of Gold... PLEASE be my MCoG buddy. I am lonely again

  • @groenewegendavid Yeah that was also a good cartoon. Don't know if I loved it enough to become your buddy over it though. Why so lonely?

  • 5:52 - OMG, giant smurfs, aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

BTW why do they speak like that - are they canadians?

  • @bill20067 Yup... they are all Canadians... Even the "Mysterious Cities of Gold"

  • Ulysses you big hairy swedish porn star

  • thank u love it

  • This machines and futuristic vision I was always fascinated this since my 13. Now im 22 and i love this !

  • This is epic!

  • I used to love this as a kid, it was actually quite dark intelligent stuff, with far more depth then most kids programs today.

  • @palendromebob based on pure mythology. copied from Homer..

  • @studiohamfar Yes, Homers Odyssey (also the name of the ship) The sequal to the lliad.

  • @palendromebob Agreed!!!

  • @palendromebob it sure did, it was brill.!

  • @palendromebob Yes shows like young justice, my little pony: FIM, avatar: the last airbender, scooby doo: mystery incorporated, sym-bionic titan, star wars: the clone wars(2008), and the thundercats reboot have no intellect whatsoever. ( apologies if I sound like I'm bitching, but, as a animation buff, I just get a little irritated when people say how good it was "back in the day" and how the today's cartoons all suck.) again, apologies if I sound like I'm trolling, which I'm not.

  • @MrThe13371 I kinda of agree with you in terms of the New Thundercats, Justice League, Gargoyles & Batman TAS. Kids animation went through this whole Pokemonish cutesy stage in mid to late 90s and early 00s. In the 80s a lot of the toons were very much good versus evil so led to these kind of parable tales whereas for a while it was all more humour based.

  • Oh wow. Brings back so many memories! Thank you.

  • I'm 18, i used to watch this when they showed re-runs on Fox Kids :)

  • I don''t remember ULYSSES, but maybe it was before my time

  • Thank you for uploading this! I used to watch this show when I was 9. Amazing how great the animation was for it's time.

  • I'm 29, and I loved this show!

  • I'm 35. I miss those 80s shows.

  • thanks, joe.

  • i'm 32

  • Oh man, that was ages ago!!!!

  • I'm 28, I remember this cartoon, it was cool:D

  • How old is everyone watching this right now??

I am 31..... children of the 80s.... great era for kids!!

    Answer with yer ages!!!

  • 31 too! lol used to love this cartoon

  • 36 almost 37, used to absolutely love this cartoon!

  • 34, i used to get up extra early so i could watch this b4 setting off for school =)

  • 25 use to watch dungeons and dragons and the mysterious city's of gold and thunder cats lol

  • @niallvan yeah mate im 30.

  • dream like

  • This intro is a bit ironic when one knows that Ulysses is the one who thought of the horse trap which was Troy downfall. But it is a fiction and a cartoon I know

  • JESUS it's Jesus

  • Loved this cartoon to pieces as a youngster. They don't make em like this anymore!

  • illuminati freaks crack me up. Really - you guys should get a life and stop being so paranoid

  • Its not lost any of its charm. Thankyou

  • i love 80's animation. the themes tell you a lot about the time inwhch they were made.

  • OH the memories!!!!

Thanks for putting this on !

    ;-)))))

  • Epic programme. love this.

  • they forgot to pause in between sentences

  • awesome!

  • I don't understand??? So this cartoon takes place in the near future of 31th century.. So in this future, the Greek Empire never fail..

  • you think america will still be on top?

  • Not if the NWO takes over in Dec 21, 2012. Then the US will nolonger exist.

  • agreed the nwo has long since begun, 2012 will be crucial.

classic series , remember well from my college days.

  • Ulysses fights the NWO, he's defying the gods all the time in this series...

  • It didn't but at present it's called the EU :P Being serious - it's fantasy, it's not connected with our world or history although it's based on it (just like J.R.R. Tolkein's novels). Don't seek for connection to our times because it's completely different world. Btw it's the most brilliant cartoon I've ever seen. How today's cartoon characters, who wear uderwear on their pants and have to "save the day" (how oryginal) can even be compared to Ulysses? This show is just epic!

  • I'm talking about the new world order. The (lluminati) or free masions empire of three cities. Members of the EU are part of the NWO as are many members from all over the world. I'm not talking about this cartoon or Ulysses. Look up lluminati here on Youtube. Most of the current and past presidents have bloodlines in their families to the lluminati.

  • soooooo many memories lol i would run home to watch this or get up early for it good times

  • kitty... thank you so much for bringing me my childhood back :o)

  • The voice acting is awesome compared to other cartoons of the same era.

  • this is one of the gratest cartoon/anime shows ever

the sound effects were so cool.

the just dont get the smae sound effects on cartoons now, the analogue ones wewre the best they sounded more sci-fi more real

  • Love the sound effects, the old analogue stuff is amazing.

  • Music and take off from 2:08 is great.

  • They talk fast.....

  • i forget: one of the best serie i ever seen!

  • i loved the music of the gods and the cyclops. that orchester sounds great. thx for uploading!

  • who is the voice actor of the robot??

  • Thursday evening, About 630, BBC 2, About 88...followed by Star trek as I recal.

  • ur ryt,at 2 22 it duz look like mickey mouse:) quality cartoon, loved this wen i was a wee man!

  • used 2 luv this as a kid, amazin how much you forget...like the annoying NoNo and how really fast they all talked. Still luv it tho, thanx.

  • at 2 22 it liiks like the shape of mickey mouse

  • I can't thankyou enough for posting this Kitty. This ruled when I was a kid, along with dungeons & dragons. 80's kids had it best I 'reckon.

  • Thanks for putting this up, brings me right back.

  • WOW this was by far my fav cartoon back when i was a kid, its bringing back so many memories, why cant they make these kinds of cartoons nowadays???

  • thank you i use to love watching this ( and still do) as a kid

  • man i love this cartoon never knew how it endid did the find theyr way home i,ve been looking for this cartoon fore ages

  • This, Dungeons and Dragons and Mysterious Cities of Gold were the best ever. Legend of Prince Valiant too.

  • telamicas no no no my son .loved this when i was a kid.

  • Excellent indeed! Compared this episode to the pilot one in order to check the wised artistic choices. Shingo araki made an excellent work on character design. Probably one of the most intelligent cartoon of the eighties, a time when producers were still thinking about creating artistic and educative works.

  • Ah memories of watching this on vhs tape come back in full force...

  • Used 2 love this as a kid!

  • when I was a kid, seeing all those people floating coma's was a little scary lol

  • hey guys do u know wat anime was show sa abscbn n adventures of odyssey mapapanood..pls help!

  • used to watch this on a sunday morning when i was a kid, loved the opening tune.

  • OMG I haven't seen this since I was four. I'm surprised to find it so soon after I suddenly decided to look for it. (I'm twenty something now. Curious timing)

  • this was my favorite childhood cartoon, i wish they would televise again.

  • Holy Shit. Gay ROBOTS. Kids these days.

  • wow... Erm.. Wow....

  • ooops that was part of another comment sorry

  • i also meant to included the cartoon ARcadia

  • Oh shit... I remember that cartoon... very weird but I loved it

  • oh dont hate the robot please, come on i meen out of all the shity cartoon sidekicks "scrappydoo", he is a good unit.

  • I hate that robot

  • sooooooo awesome:D this show was a huge hit in greece when I was a kid.

  • this is a throwback damn brings back the memory of my childhood.

  • Yes indeed :DOh too bad it isnt in greek but i will watch it in english doesnt matter..

  • i love this show

  • I loved it!!! Sci-Fi meets Greek myht.

    Bam!!!!!

  • I was glued to the Tele every time this show would come on. Takes me back :]

  • Hah, the giant space station is in the shape of a corinthian helmet. I never noticed that as a kid.

  • jesus christ the dub is bad...

  • shur-ka? maybe circe was intended.

  • Man...still looks as great as then...

  • I love the way the makers seem to have filled up a studio of about 3 people and got them to cheer and revel and then double tracked the sound to make it sound like a party.

  • wow i miss this show. haha the music sounds really daft punk at some parts its excellent. my band usually play the theme tune as our set opener at most gigs... people usually dig it

  • I bought this on DVD the other day, and even thought the series is still very good, I was very disappointed that Contender didn't even bother to remaster the episodes, the dvd's are really bad picture quality, given that the show came out in 1981, I would've thought they would've remastered the episodes like they did for He-Man and D&D, unfortunately they didn't, and the episodes suffer because of it. :(

  • UUUULYsseeeEEeEEeEEeEEeSS!

Loved it then love it now!

  • The concept for this cartoon in particular, is extremely creative and original, one of the most slept on cartoons of the 80's. More!! more!! more!!

  • just amazing!backtime,,

  • cool man, thx

  • Man this show was awesome, i'm gonna buy it on dvd...jeeeh!

  • yeah...big thanks kitty9584!!! Can't wait for more!!!

  • Cool! This episode doesn't seem to download properly though :(

  • post all of them please!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you ever so much for posting this!!!

  • This brings back excellent memories (especially the music)!!

    Thanks for posting this!!
