Frankly, I am a genius and I wish I might sound as wily as Judy when ~I~ am drunk. I never shall achieve that.
I don't like this recording. She is clearly shit-faced, but more than anything, she is a truly GREAT lady wounded deeply, and a million people ought to have helped this astonishingly talented woman to equal the millions of dollars she made for "users" (and herself, because she was richer than Sinatra and it all ... went ... out ... the window).
".........I slur my words very badly, but that dosn't make too much of a difference as long as my thoughts are not slurred" She is a beautiful and smart soul.
Above all, this woman was a mother.....she wasn't a perfect motherr, neither am I!! And as my own mother who I just lost this April was not perfect. But I miss her every single day. Terribly. Judy, I get you!!! I understand. My sympathies to your children whom I am sure miss you still every day. God's Blessings on you three! She didn't leave behind just a song she left you three. THAT and that alone is her legacy.
How sad this is. She says, referring to reports of her being an alcoholic and a drug addict: "it's a goddamn wonder I'm not! But I'm not." And it's obvious she's drunk or drugged even as she speaks. And her voice! Contrast with the voice of her younger years. It's a voice that's been ravaged.
Judy was one of the greatest... The big movie moguls took advantage of her... they will have to answer when their time comes... Did you know they put her on speed as a child... during the making of The Wizard of Oz? Yes they did... Shame...THEY ruined Judy... She was a strong woman...strong mother...and strong performer... She is missed and will continue to be missed...
Amazing lady! She deserved so much love---love that she never had. She wasn't a bad person at all. She was simply a product of her mother's and MGM's greed. She never realized that she in fact addicted to bc they had been a part of her life for so long that perhaps she thought it was normal. She was so sad, WE WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER, JUDY!!! R.I.P.
Poor Judy lived in total denial. She WAS a drunk, she WAS a drug addict. This only contributes to her aura of fragility but it doesn't alter the truth. You lived one hell of a miserable life Judy Garland; rest in peace Frances Gumm.
This is how my sister sounds like when she's strung out on drugs. She's 44 now and has been doping since she was 13 she will probably die before she turns 50.
what an amazing fucking genius she was and for all you all doubters, it's her, and for all you haters, FOAD and for all us lovers of the rainbow, let us be thankful that this gift is being deliverd to us! amen mo fo JUDY judy judy
I know it's the "in" thing to create and believe your own reality today (most notably, false political beliefs about which folks grouse incessantly), but if anyone is interested in the truth, this IS, in fact, Miss Garland; and the tape is not being played "slowly." The unfamiliar sound is due to the action of certain drugs on the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. For those who knew Miss Garland in the 60s, there is nothing unfamiliar in the sound or content of these tapes.
This isn't judy. This voice is way too deep. Go and listen to her talk anywhere else on youtube and then listen to this again, you'll hear the difference, it is very distinct.
This isn't even Judy...it's an actress reading Judy's words from another autobiographical tape she made. The original sounds nothing like this. NOT JUDY!
this was anytime between 1965 or 1968, she tried to record her life for a book 2 times. and she woul dwake up in the middle of the night when she couldn't sleep and talk into the recorder, and these are Judy, the tapes are running slow, don't forget that tape recorders ran off speed and only played normal on the machines they were recorded on, if played on another player recoreder , it either played too slow, or too fast
is that why her voice is sooo low on this? i had a friend who had these tapes on cd, but iv never been able to find them on cd anywhere online does anyone know if its available?
Judy sounds tired and drained but she does'nt sound crazy or out of her mind in any way...her thoughts are very collaborated and ''sound''....

What she was, was also a human being. And a lot of people never thought of, treated, or let her be that way.

What would be the point of doing this if it weren't Judy Garland? It's her voice..she sounds like she's medicated or on something...but it's her.

I hear now that the tape is slow. That's why it didn't sound like the original I've heard.
