@Tpmler I would say this. I don't have much experience with 4th ed. but a few friends of mine that have been heavy into D&D for years, and all dislike 4th ed. They say it takes away from the freedom creativity of 3.5(which Pathfinder essentially is) and tries to get you to buy extra models and crap for the game. This doesn't, you just need some dice, the book, and some friends. It's a kick-ass starter set for anyone who is new to it

@CircularEntertain There are character generators online - all you have to do is cross out some boxes, and after five-ten minutes, you have a character. If you need some help with character sheets, try finding some already filled out.

Pathfinder is the true 4th edition and spiritual successor to D&D imo. It's exactly what I'm looking for out of a level/class base fantasy rpg. :)

Damn I've just paid £30 to get a D&D Starter Set from the US as there were none over here (UK) and this looks much better at half the price. So what is the difference between the two games?
@nstutt Ooh, there are very passionate partisans for each game. Pathfinder continues the 3rd Edition of D&D, while what you bought is for the 4th Edition of D&D. The 2 games suit different play styles and taste is subjective. I highly recommend you get this set (though I'm guessing the price is about the same as the Starter Set) so you can get a taste of Pathfinder. But keep in mind this gives you more or less a complete "smaller" version of the full game, while the Starter Set does not.

GOD PF maps are horrible they dont match up with other PF or D&d maps the squares have no sense logic in proportions
its due to the fact the artists they hire are too lazy to work on a grid for scale
