  • Simply beautiful.

I've always been a fan of Pavarotti, he is simply a gift from God. Mariah Carey, I have never really enjoyed her music. She has a beautiful voice. Perhaps I would like her more if she did more songs like this instead of assimilating into modern pop culture and doing pop songs like "obsessed"

    Amazing performance.

  • Pavarotti had probably the greatest voice of all time and mariah is my favorite girl - singer...yes, shes a singer ... not a bitch like perry and gaga sorry for all the fans :(

  • I think the #1s era and early Butterfly era were some of the best vocal moments of her career (this performance, the View performance/Michael Jackson performance of I Still Believe). The tone of her voice was so full and strong sounding. She was so comfortable in the B, C, D range of belting and it was evident in her outstanding performances. Love her!! Can't wait for her new record in 012!! L4L

  • I absolutely love Mariah's voice during this era of her career (#1s Era). It's so pure and very very rich sounding which is comparable to what it was when she first came out. It's almost a little bit more of a masculine, sharp tone (in the most beautiful way) as opposed to her voice now and during the Daydream era where it is very young/light sounding. For example, from 45-50 seconds, and the way she says "on" in the first chorus is very sharp and rich sounding. So beautiful and a mature sound!

  • Mariah is good.... But Pavarotti is the real musician there. lol

  • THIS IS WHAT I CALL MUSIC... I DO BELIEVE SHE IS ONE AMONG THE BEST. SHE IS A BORN SINGER AND A STAR

  • ¡¡Perfecto!!

  • There's like NO difference compared to the undubbed one >_>

  • great!!

  • fuck the 252 bieber and gaga fans. fuck you idiots!!!!

  • What a classy couple. His wonderful voice will resonate for ever. RIP Pavarotti

Thank you Mariah your a sweety.

  • good

  • Wow!!!

  • Oh my gosh, YouTube, this video has 252 dislikes, fix it! And don't ever show that button again!

  • @thecherrimtree12 The dislike button in this video was for people who don't like dubbed versions of Fraudriah.

  • @kaiyno Good point...

  • @thecherrimtree12 Thanks... :]

  • @thecherrimtree12 Nope. The undubbed version is just as good.

  • @kaiyno And yet she sounds better than Xtina has EVER sounded in the undubbed version. Mad?

  • @lawlinat0r Dream on, retard.

  • @kaiyno What a terrific comeback. You are an embarrassment to all sane Cuntina stans who know she is no where near Queen Mariah.

  • @lawlinat0r Keep failing miserably :]

  • @kaiyno In your words, "Dream on, retard".

  • @lawlinat0r :]

  • @kaiyno oh stfu her undubbed version sounds just as amazing

  • @Dannoc100 Nope, they don't.

  • Mariah have an Amazing voice but, she must used her voice for best songs, no for stupid pop.. song like that are magic.. and RIP luciano

  • Mariah,I like you,and you're good,but please shut the hell up.I can't hear Luciano.

  • @Kaiyno no not ignorent correct"/ u go ahead and listen to the undubbed version and see how right i am, ur just a fuking hater really, why bother commenting

  • Pavarotti's face at the end sums up her voice. #Beautiful.

  • at 3:33 she missed a break becose the vowels of slylables of the two languages were out of synch. from then on it was just a wreck

  • "Carey is such a musician. Perfect timing, divine accuracy, subtle and refined phrasing, melismas always connected to the rhythm and structure of song, infaillible ability to etablish and resolving musical ideas and theme and effortless combination of climax and resolve." Montserrat Caballé

  • @kaiyno lol the undubbed version was just as perfect, just hater towards mc lol pathetic

  • @toamau12 No it wasn't, she was too breathy, off key and unsupported, that's why a dubbed versin exists you retard. If this performance is the same as the undubbed one, then why would there be dubbed/undubbed?... ignorant.

  • @kaiyno Stop hating. While your at it, stop searching for her videos. The undubbed version is sounds incredibly close to this.

  • @theovanua Right... stay with your ignorance then :]

  • @kaiyno Ok then :)

  • she was great!

  • This is to rest of one life because is precious the bolth !!!

  • Pavarotti only sing with people he considers to have great talent. So Mariah(My Fav) must have had something special to him. Mariah did a great job, and Pavarotti was excellent. Best version of Hero to me.

  • the best rendition of hero...

  • i love when mariah sings so low.. 0:38 ....what force to reckon with

  • por favorrr minuto 1:58 que sonrisa..ayyyy luis minnguel jajajajja que tontis fue,no crees?

  • oir esto es uno de los viajes mas maravillosos que e tenido nunca...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 250 people are orphans

  • Perfeita !

  • does anybody know if pavarotti is singing an actual aria that happens to work with 'hero' or not? i'd be SO curious to know what 19th c. italian opera aria happens to have the same harmonic progression as 'hero'... though it's not that farfetched. thanks!

  • I Love this peformance even though I cant understand the guy, But she knew where to do her best... I Love you Forever and always CRT Forever

  • Uma performance pra ser sempre lembrada

  • two of the LEGENDS :) Mariah is like a Princess and Pavarotti is like a King xD not like a Prince xD

  • THIS IS AN UNBELIEVABLE GUITAR INSTRUMENTAL OF HERO.....CHECK IT OUT!!!!

  • The so called purists don't understand even when the most accomplished musical phrases, tones and textures hit their face. They only understand power. Oh well, Luciano could never hold a candle to Mariah's any other register save the chest. If you disagree, you don't know anything.

  • Pavlove . ding.

  • pav.love a rat eye ring bell sal i vate

  • @ZbmwM5 Pavarotti doesn't lip. ;)

  • Hero by Mariah has been always my favorite, but I wish there was whole Italian version of hero sung by Pav alone. It sounds like a totally different song and SO BEUTIFUL here

  • i thought this collab was pretty good! it's not that bad

  • The two might be the "hero" just on my mind!!

  • Ridiculous duet.... An opera siger and a soul singer.... Pitiful !!

  • @wajjass It isn't only a soul singer, honey. It's MARIAH CAREY. ;D

  • I don't understand why Pavarotti lowered himself to this point. Ther are so many betters singers than Mariah Carey!! She can't sing, she yells!!!!!!!

  • @Guillaume2606 Mariah has one of the most beautiful voices ever.... I don't think he would "lower" himself to sing with any artist that he felt couldnt sing, or who he felt didn't have talent. Her sales, number ones, and hits speak for themselves. No one has a voice like her. No one..... both of them are legends and this is a beautiful rendition of one of the most amazing songs ever written! So meaningful and beautiful....

  • Hessss soo fucking great . miss him

  • There are gaps while she sings, like if she can't sustain some long notes. Awful performance by Carey, at least she didn't lip sync as usual. Pavarotti was great, he's the one that CAN sustain long notes in a live performance, not Carey.

  • @kaiyno Mariah never lips... I've searched and searched and never found one video. She has back up vocals but she always sings her part. Always. Mariah in this case sounded great but she also sang the ENTIRE song in a lower key, out of respect for Pavarottis voice, and so that the arrangement sounded better.

  • @ZbmwM5 watch?v=6E9ZwD0r_64

    watch?v=oPtpIWQjwGM

    watch?v=tUFqYaqDpuM

    watch?v=pnzVCe-rw98

    watch?v=HSX9OteCQr0

And more if you want.. This so called "legend" doesn't have what it takes to be a legend since her voice is too thin compared to real talented artists who CAN perform live.

  • Comment removed

  • @kaiyno You realize this song is transposed a full step down for Pavarotti NOT her? She hits an E5 and G5 in the coda. Pavarotti is good, but no man's chest voice extends that far up.

  • @rekupp Yes, and Pavarotti had to use the microphone techniqe as well. Maybe Carey's performance wasn't that bad, she did sustain does notes pretty well. Still, it would of been nice to listen her apply more vibrato to her notes like Pavarotti did. The Tokyo Dome performance is still her best live rendition of Hero.

  • @kaiyno No it isn't; the song was transposed a semi-tone lower in 1995. The best performances of Hero are in 1993 (Arsenio Hall, Letterman, etc), her voice was much fuller and had a richer texture in the Musicbox Era.

  • @rekupp Agree. She had much vocal texture in those days.

  • @kaiyno He is using a microphone because they are in open air you dolt.

  • @rekupp Still a true tenor like Pavarotti wouldn't need a microphone even in open air moron, but Carey does need it because she was paper thin as hell, don't get fooled with this dubbed DVD version, here's how Carey really performed: watch?v=ADgl45GOvMM

  • @kaiyno hahahahaha. You're joking. Not even a choir of the best opera singers would be heard over the second row in open air. There is nothing to bounce sound waves off of. You are an idiot.

  • @rekupp Yeah... avoiding the comment about Carey.............

  • @kaiyno No, I am not. Her voice was not rested from 98-00. She did not sound great, she lacked clarity. And no, the Tokyo dome performance was not the best. Her 93-94 performances of Hero were clearer and her voice was fuller.

  • @rekupp Rested??? LMAO! did Pavarotti rest his voice to make the outstanding performance he had?? really doubt it, so stop making up dumb excuses to make her seem better, her voice was already in decline by this point, that doesn't get fixed with "resting" LOL

  • @kaiyno I thought Mariah's voice sounded really good and strong here.

And the whole resting thing is true. Mariah's voice is very delicate hence why from 1997-1999 (when she started partying and drinking etc) her voice took a bit of a nose dive. Alcohol has evidently had a massive effect on MC's voice as when she stopped (when she got pregnant) her vocals were a lot clearer and effortless.

Pavarotti has a different voice. He also had a much easier part to sing.

  • This was beautiful. Mariah and Pavarotti were good friends, too. She said he told her the best ways to take care of her voice.

  • Her voice is flawless

  • These 2 go together like bleach and ammonia

  • @DanLujan whether good or bad, I am laughing so hard at your post! You've made quite a point.

  • I'm game for the inner light stuff and I love Pavaratti...not much of a Maria Carey fan...still very sweet performance! Thumbs up!

  • Listen to this and think of all the young heroes of Northern Africa and the Middle East

  • 247 people would rather prefer a Duet by Miley Cirus, and Justin Bieber

  • .R.I.P. Luciano Pavarotti Best singer ever allways will be in my heart... Pavarottis singing made me cry :'(

  • Prboi92 i see, nice 2 know, thank you.

  • beautiful! you can see in Pavarotti's eyes at the end of the song that he knows this has gone wonderfully and he is moved. i wish i knew Italian so i'd understand his part of the song. and Mariah of course is stunning as usual. Love it!

  • @CorinneHTW He is singing the words to Hero, its just in Italian.

  • @CorinneHTW You have to keep your inner light alive.

  • pavarotti straight up shitting on her lol

  • @britannio Pavrotti was one of the best and most respected opera singers in the world. And its a shame that you have to speak that way of the deceased.

  • Takes alot to out sing Mariah! Pavarotti LEGEND!

  • CHECK THIS OUT.......AMAZING INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF HERO!!!! REALLY GOOD!!!!!

    /watch?v=U_Hm5gsl8Tg

  • Sorry to sound disrespectful, but did anyone else laugh at pavarotti, i guess i am just tone deaf to great music :P

  • Fuck, just gave me goosebumps and tears in my eyes!

  • even though they dont sing the same kind of music

this is by far one of the best duets ever made!

    simply amazing!

  • Love you mariah, such a great song.

  • pavarotti god bettwen gods.......R.I.P old men

  • god bless Pavarotti ,the world has lost one Gigant Artist ,god bless in heaven

  • luciano pavarotti love you

  • was it me or pavarotti was so proud of singing with her?

  • @juan85360 no she was so proud to sing with her he did not need to sing with her.......pavarotti is a legend and go and see pavarotti's history.

  • @1994majd I know he was a legend my point is that he seemed to be so happy to sing with MC.

  • @juan85360 understand your point ..Thanks for made it clear..!!

  • @Tom6093 Mariah has the most unique tone.I'll take that over the heavy sound of whitney houston any day and so will every other person on the planet.

  • @mc1ate1mad1cow To each their own !!!! Don't get me wrong, Mariah has a awesome voice. But Whitney back in her day ??? A completely different level. Why do people prefer Brittney over Christina Agualara ? Same thing. I hated what Mariah did to " Against all Odds " and also too , " I wanna know what love is. She doesn't seem to get the original spirit of the songs and turns them into R and B. Lame !!!!

  • @Tom6093 Only someone ignorant of Mariah's artistry would have said what you did. Mariah sings from country, to pop, to r'n'b, to gospel, to dance....

ignorant person... your opinion is RELATIVE. Seeing as she has sold over 200 million records and albums, your in the minority.

  • @CyprusHot Thats your opinion.......And a bad one at that I might add. She has a great voice but doesn't compare to half of the gospel singers skills in all the real Christian african American Churches. She's actually only very average compared to them. With the right manager and the right look , She got to where she is based on what sells. Whitney had all her bases covered, and tears it up on all accounts with voice, talent, proffesionalism. Her movies. Glitter had no fame. Whitney wins.

  • @Tom6093 Too bad you define Gospel music as 'real Christian african American churches'. How ignorant are you. I can't see any of them sing 'fly like a bird'. As for sales...every singer has marketing, nothing inherently wrong with that. Vision of love was huge and that was not what was famous at the time. Why single out Glitter? Not everything Whitney has done has been a hit. Nor should it be. It happens when you have a career that spans decades. Ps. Whitney loves Mariah, has said so many times.

  • @Tom6093 Not that Whitney's opinion matters. Yet here we are, your on a video that shows MC and Pav. That is how legendary Mariah is. She collaborated with one of the greatest male opera singers of all time. Whitney said in 1999 that people who try and compete Mariah with her, for having great voices, is childish. Check it out in the making of the Prince of Egypt. In fact Whitney went further and said Mariah does her own thing and that she is a great spirit and that she loves her. Act like W.H.

  • @Tom6093 Don´t be silly, Gospel singers have all the same type of voice, it´s quite similar to Aretha, Jennifer Hudson , Billy Holliday etc...I mean Mariah´s voice is unique unlike gospel singers voices.

  • @pedy19 Really ????? Okay first off. Aretha is not one of the better singers. She's a legend because of her producer and the right songs for her. She has a great voice, but nothing that I would call Heart stopping. JH ? She has a better voice then Eretha, but still is average when it comes to gospel. Billy Holiday was a Jazz singer with a very unique voice great voice., but doesn't have the right kind of vabrato for Gospel. Eretha isa closer bet then the both of them. Mariah is ...con.

  • @pedy19 ...con.... Mariah is great and has versatility. But she is schooled by Whitney in the art of gospel voice. Whitney has a saltry versatile voice and gets strong . But Whitney is 10 steps above her...at least in her prime she was.. Gospel singers don't all have the same type of voice. Listen to it sometime and educate yourself.

  • @Tom6093 I know they don´t but most american gospel singers do have, if you then choose to go for australian gospel it would be completely different! I am educated in what it comes to gospel, I´ve sung it, since early age I use to go to envangelic church lol.... not anymore though. Second Mariah was never schooled by Whitney.. plus her voices are too distinct to be compared, but Whitney´s texture, versatility isn´t better /bigger than Mariah! But opinions are opinions. Bye

  • @mc1ate1mad1cow Very true. The voice is not just about power. MC has fluidity to her voice. As the rolling stones said : MC has done one further than Celine and Whit by writing her own songs. Mariah has made her mark in history and no one can take that away from her.

  • @Nitrohelp would've been better with whitney ?? So she can force her long ass,un-melodic notes on the listeners ? Carey's carrying the melody while Pavarotti is just singing straight...With Whitney,it would've been horrendous.

  • What Carey is for pop music,so is Pavarotti for opera. Not one bit less.

  • those that dislike this or has bad comments about pavarotti, pls go back to justin beiber and lady gaga coz u people have obviously no idea about music! this guy is a legend! he must have vocal cords made of steel!

  • 2:33...two conductors??????????????

  • @nicolasfurrikane yes....he had a voice that comes once in a about 500 yrs....directly from heaven...

and....it reminds me of the Masters of the classical era of music...

but mariah...easily has such a beautiful voice as well....such a great compliment for her!

  • Another song Pavaratti ruined!!!!!!!

  • @tennisgurl206 If you ask me it's ugly.... especially when Pavoratti is singing it.

  • Comment removed

  • cos pieknego.....naprawde

  • ******please hear me singing on my channel******

  • she was lucky to be on stage with this legend...she is already forgotten

  • @tmarkable Let me remind you that Mariah's last number 1 on billboard was only 3 years ago, and her song We Belong Together was named the song of the decade last year. She's far from forgotten and as long this song that SHE wrote is sung all over the world she'll always be present.

  • Legendary performance.

  • i'm impressed!!! VERY impressed!!! i never slept on opera, but i'm happy to see a softer side of a male opera singer...ENCOURE!!!!

  • superb !!!

  • wow................... amazingggggggggg eventhough i dont know the guy language :D

  • There is absolutely no doubt that both of the singers have a fantastic voice... I just happen to like Mariah's the most, but thats really just a matter of personal taste, because I know, Luciano does also have one of the greatest voices that ever excisted.

  • @taba3000 Mariah also has one of the greatest voices ever so its fine that you prefer her (i do aswell) they sing in diffrent styles so you cant really compare their voices its like compareing apples and bannas. pavarotti has an incredible range and so does mariah. it just diffrent styles

  • @xXxmissemmaxXx True!! I don't understand why do people compare people so different, such as Patti LaBelle, Charice Pempengco, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion... it's so annoying, they are all the best at their skill, all stars shinning!

Mimi and Pavarotti were amazing!! ^^

  • Contemporary and Classical technique is completely different. How are you going to compare an opera singer to Mariah Carey? Foolishness!

  • 241 people dont believe in hero's

  • @TravAlmond because they believe only in Justin Bieber

  • @TravAlmond: 6 more decided to join them

  • @TravAlmond 6 more decided to join them

  • Well, this "pairing" makes sense...seeing that Mariah's mother is a "well-trained" OPERA singer. Her Mother probably enjoyed this performance so much. I know I did! This is so cool the GREAT Luciano Pavarotti & very talented Mariah Carey "singing" together! I have also heard him sing with Celine, Josh Groban ??? or was that with Andrae Bocelli), Jon Bon Jovi...I was hoping oneday to hear him sing with R&B Songtress-Mary J. Blige...I wonder how their "voices" would sound together? RIP L. PAVAROTI

  • super!!!!

  • love it

  • Nádhera,krása,supr.

  • I could die of pleasure

    pleasure heart attack..

  • WOW...2 big icons! thanks for sharing!

  • This video is really amazing, first time that me see it.

    two big stars -

    PAVAROTTI R.I.P.

  • merciii

  • It's beautiful : ))

  • They sing absolutely beautiful together...couldn't sound nicer. Too bad there isn't more beauty in this world instead of hate... what a shame!!!!!

  • Search

Federica Lombardo 12 anni- Hero (Mariah Carey)

  • To all calling MC a sell-out I'll list most of her achievements:

    5 Grammys

    18 #1s and 27 top-ten hits (Hot100) Most weeks at #1 16weeks , 3 #1 debuts(2 consecutive), most cumulative weeks at #1 79weeks, Simultaneously occupying the top two positions, producer w 1 of the most #1 hits: 14, songwriter w 1 of the most #1 hits: 17

    2 #1s (UK).

  • @dandyfireable er.... mindless sheep voting blindly is kind of the point of sellouts...

  • Wow - Mariah is actually a better singer than Pavarotti on this one! Her voice is amazing!

  • @EJwannabe oh B.S.

  • Comment removed

  • @EJwannabe Oh well, pearls before swine.

  • @ryu8888 Mariah Carey is not just a diamond in the rough. Her mother is a well-known vocal coach. To neglect her talent simply because she performs a different style of music than does Pavarotti is pure snobbery (like quoting from the bible in reference to such a preference). She has more control than he does. She has more range than he does and she is 1/3 his size. I would rather watch Mariah perform than Pavarotti any day of the week.
