  • Dude you are fuckin bonkers. This is awesome!

  • Ever thought of going solo and do some gigs in belgium. I'd come and watch you know :p

  • Oh yeah! That vibrato is mean!

  • 11288 views : about 200 just for me !

  • not my style, and does not go well with the song in my view... but you are a good guitarist, amazing technique. Don't stop playing man :)

  • Sam you melted my face!

  • this guy is fucking awesome!

  • Holy fuck your vibrato Is amazing!

  • Wow dude you should have more views for this... Absolutely great job ;)

  • you can only get that sick sound from a les paul, keep it up man

  • and then they say hendrix and les paul dont mix well :)

  • kakav car

  • Fantastic performance, but I would agree with some others regarding the "Gary Moore" trap. What I'd like to hear from you are original compostions. You obviously have a load of passion and heart for the instrument, but I want to hear you actually play songs with interesting guitar hooks that you place your own stamp on. I'm a music consumer with a few dollars to spend, and I want to hear great music that YOU wrote and performed that makes me want to go out and buy your cd.

  • like that your putting your own stamp on this, cheers - Matt

  • i would to put this on a cd and blast it in my car!!!!

  • The only bad thing about this is that Jimi should always be played with a strat. Sounds awesome though.

  • @Zhaggysfaction The real question is would you be able to find out what kind of quitar it was if you hadnt watched the video? If you can play you can sound like that with a strat les paul or an ...ibanez it doesnt matter.Sam would sound like sam with any kind of gear.Tone is always in the fingers.

  • @denisgiann

Well. we can't find that out anymore, can we? But I think I and many others you also could tell a difference if it's a strat or les paul. They both have very distinct sound and I have played both of them a lot so I think I could tell. Don't get me wrong Sam is one hell of a guitarist. He sound great wheter it's a strat or a les paul, but he is not that good that he could make a strat sound like a les paul or vice versa.

  • @Zhaggysfaction Yes they can have a distinct sound but only if you want to...A strat can generate a huge humbucking thud and vice versa for the lespaul with the right settings pickups etc etc etc.Iam sick and tired of people bowing down to the headstock name of guitars. If you remove the visual feedback and i make you listen to five guitars from the same player playing the same thing with the same setup, pickups etc..i bet you wont be able to tell an ibanez from a lespaul etc etc.

  • @Dreamdancer11

I know only couple players who can get a les paul sound out of a strat with single coils, but I have yet to come across a player who can get strat sounds out of a normal les paul without splitting the coils. Sure you can get both sound out of an Ibanez with hums and split them but that's what they are made for. (I do have one of those also) I think you have to be close to god to make them sound so alike that no-one could tell.

  • @Zhaggysfaction i think you are missing the point. and the point is you can customize anything sound like...anything if you want. There are a lot of myths involving guitar and mostly about gear but very few about....fingers..lol.Many headstock myths many myths about woods and bullshit.i can play you the same solo with diff guitars and you wont have a clue which is which.I have tried it with many "experts" and the results were laughable.

  • @Dreamdancer11

Trust me, I know what you mean. And I can imagine that there are ways to do this, but I just thinks it's pretty damn hard.

  • HOLY CRAP. dude that was killerrrrr thank you thank you thank you for posting this!!!!!!

  • Damn, I wish I could fall into that same "Gary Moore trap"!!! Rock on, Brother!!!

  • Damn, I wish I could fall into that same "Gary Moore trap"!!! Rock on, Brother!!!

  • Really really good , i think Jimi whole like this :D

  • omfg this is AMAZING!

    How old are you?

  • anytime I feel bad " I just watch this video and like Bam " On top of the world again,......

  • i saw that video with you and riffguy and i fuckin love it. You are an extremely talented guitarist. I have been playing guitar for a little over 3 years now and i am always trying to find ways to get better. Any Tips? How long have you been playing?

  • 0:30 WAS SO COOL!

  • This is seriusly one of the greatest improvisations I've ever seen I remember this was the first video I watched from your channel, I've seen it like 100 times and I can't get enough of it seriusly this is truly amazing

  • You were born with a guitar in your arms.

Absolutely wicked guitar playing.Such feeling and expression my friend.

    credit to you!!..

  • 00.28

Steve Vai does that to. :)

But I still don't have a clue how you make that smooth sound. Could you explain it for me? Thanks a lot!

  • you need to practis more, it does'nt sound as good as hendrix

  • this is epic man! seriously good! only wish i could be as good as you, rock on!

  • what amp do you use lol, it sounds so good ;p

  • Hey, i was just wondering, what equipment do you use e.g. Amp, pedals etc. cos Ur sound is amazing and im really interested in finding out how you got it

  • everybady like this guys playing, are you have your own songs ? can you play standing not sitt? for me nothing special ordinnary improvisse guy.

  • @vaikinas30 Yess he can play standing and he has his own songs.

  • @vaikinas30 Could you spell more badly please, because now it's too easy to read you being a jerk.

  • nice.

  • Great job. I want that backing track!.All I can find on the net is midi to play with. what's your recording setup? Webcam mics stink so I have to use inline input into my sound card. You lose gain feedback that way. After I watch you I know I need more vibrato in my playing. That was superb playing/sound

  • loved it bro

  • 2:55 - 3:10 is badass!

  • what a great song this is, you do a great jam with it mate !!

  • o ma stai tra

  • Waaaauuuuuuhhhhhh

  • What kind of Les Paul is that? Nice tone and riffs/timing. You should be playing in a band, if you are not already.

  • Hey man, nice playing!

    Are you self-taught?

  • Beautiful....

How much time do you spend practicing per day?

And how long have you been playing?

  • Young man, how long have you been playing wicked guitar like that!

  • Im blown away..

  • Best AATW Cover on Youtube!

  • keep on rockin man!very good!!

  • killer vibrato man

  • Dude - you are the next joe bonamassa. keep the rock up and thanks for playing real (versus RockBand)

  • Amazing playing. I can't really say much else man. I wish I was in a band with you :( lol

  • That lick at :30 is SO Bonamassa-ish. I need to know that lick right now. hahah SO good man.

  • he is realy young and this good already, I think he can be one of the great ones in the future, I say this based on my 25 year of playing guitar, YOU GOT THE FEEL!

  • Awesome job! Nice feel.

  • There will always be someone that plays faster than you or me but when you close your eyes and play with your heart and soul it is unique and can never be topped. A couple of notes of BB King or a solo like the live version of Beck's People get ready have 100% more feeling than Malmsteens' diabolical runs. I take the liberty of speaking thus cause I am almost 50. Unite your technical gift with emotional expression à la SRV (which is already there in parts) and we may read about you in Guitar P.

  • I listened again at 0:56 the burst is very inspired and full of fire! I don't know if you have studied any flammenco and the concept of playing 'outside' the harmony..a note or two to add authenticity and rawness. For me coming back to the blues and studying apparently simple solos like Joe Walshes' Hotel Cal. and his technique of aiming for 'target notes' was helpful. You have great talent try to make sure you find a signature sound and then launch a universal attack..and ignore negative crap.

  • You are welcome...I knew that the Gary Moore comparsison would not be too hard to take. There are so many guitarists that seem to get caught in the trap of pyrotechnical displays of virtuosity but I feel that you really have the raw and authentic rock spirit in you. I spent over 20 years practising Paganini on the violin and Al di Meola on guitar and at the end of the day I realized that speed was keeping me from having a personal or signature sound.

  • You want to rated? 15 out of 10 technically...truly amazing but for feeling or artistic expression I would give you a 8 out of 10 because your expression is uneven i.e. you do demonic runs then switch and seem to sort of get stuck ....it seems that with a little maturation and space (you fall into the Gary Moore trap of too many notes). You may have the potential to become a world class player...CONGRATULATIONS AND KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @turockandar But you have to admit that it worked for Gary in spite of all

  • @turockandar what's the Gary Moore trap?

  • @turockandar dude...imo...u got your 2nd rating wrong. Which notes would u remove..and at what point does it not 'feel' right to u...? 10 all the way...ha.

  • niiice volume swells dude.....very bonamassa like

  • Amazing man. Your timing is superb !!!

  • Your volume swells are jaw-dropping. Vibrato and pull-offs like a champ. Hendrix aint proud, hes damn amazed. I appreciate feeling your soul in this one

  • Sweet playing! Nice switching from fingerstyle to pick as well. At several times in the vid I'm picking up an Eric Johnson vibe-is this a player that you've listened to much Sam? Well done buddy!

  • what abou you get a crew and go play arroud de world?....congratulations, very nice skill !!!

  • And you're living in Cal? Right on! did you do some pubcrawling at the stampede last weekend?

  • Hey man, i randomly came across your vids and i can't seem to turn away from it, im in complete awe. Holy shit you got skill, but not only that, you play with so much soul its incredible. It changes the music from being just another song to so much more than that. I'd be a happy man if I ever reach 1/10 of your skill level. Keep doing what you're doing, you're awesome

  • Holloway suggested I take a look, Sam. Nice lines. Very very musical.

  • your style is so smooth. i really like it. your like hendrix meets paul gilbert. haha

  • From Hendrix to Gilbert till Wylde.

    Amazing skills!

  • ur damn good!

  • WOW that was awesome... And those volume swells... Like the hardest thing ever...

  • Feckin' smashin'. Cheers!

  • A rating?

how about .001 % that can do this?

Great!-------talent that is "God given? "

    A brilliant rendition.

  • Wow! amazing

  • Sammy....just found you via BKP site - really nice. (Boss DD ala JB?) Excellent!

  • very nice;P i love all you.. videos 5 stars

  • Sammy this is my favorite video of you so far. it's expressive and goes to great places

  • The next joe bonamassa, haha! only you play better

    Rock on Dude!

  • Just love it

  • Just awsome

  • A top *****five-star***** performance. Well done.

  • inspiring as always!

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he kind of looks like randy rhoads

  • i wish i could play like you man. i'm getting there but you know so much and your technique is great.

  • Of course I want to rate you and it's a pleasure to do it for you. I give you 5. And it push you to 87 ratings with 5 stars. :-)

  • do you still play in that band ninty6nails or something like that? gj on the improvisation

  • awesome dude!

  • Absolutely awesome dude - almost faultless, for me - apart from just one thing - that your technically excellent improv' didn't take me on a 'journey'; it kinda lacked a 'beginning', 'middle' and and 'end'. That's all. Hard when improvising I know and appreciate. But something to consider plotting, planning and working on for the future. Great tones. Love the Gibson. Peace.

  • Amazing, as usual!

  • It's "appreciate", dude. :-))

But in any case you've got a great Bonamassa meets Zakk Wylde thing going there!

  • dude man ur vids never seize to amaze me

i bet someday your gonna be big

  • What kind of amp you runnin thru? ....anyway thanks for the inspiration

  • 5/5 as always, sam. keep rockin!

  • Excellent, you are a genius my friend ! Les paul man ! 5 stars , I love your fast clean solos =)

  • GREAT as ussual :p

  • Nice take

    Love and peace

    Malcolm

  • Once again Sammy you've done something unique with a well known tune. Love the Bonamassa thumb technique. When is that band of yours coming to the USA? You have the WOW factor man. Ever think about doing those lessons you posted a while back. You are someone who I wish I had 10% of your talent. Could you post a video showing me how to do the awesome string bending techniique you do at 3:13 of this vid? I can never do it properly.

  • hi there Scott, glad you like this one. hopefully i will be able to get some new tutorials up soon. string bends are a little tricky to get the hang of but persistance is always the key. cheers mate

  • Ha ha.. OMG I've become a tag!! Awesome playing as usual Mr Coulson :-)

  • Your so amazing man! I am a huge fan. I've seen everyone of your videos at least a hundred times. Keep it up bro!

  • hi mate, thanks for all your complements over the time youve been watching, it doesnt go unoticed. thanks alot

  • I love the abrupt stop at the very end!

  • haha yeah, i realy like sliding up and turning the volume down to finish. i think i have finished the last 3 youtube videos that way

  • jesus christ!!!

    0:29-0:31

the whole thing is really good

  • thankyou, that lick is a new one for me. took a little while to get the hamer ons from nowhere

  • I'm sure I've said this of previous vids of yours. So at the risk of being spammy...

    Fabulous playing and tone!

  • thanks very much

  • Hey Sam keep up the good work mate!! What gauge strings do you use and have you tried a Holy Diver in the bridge I've got one in the goldtop and will try the NBomb next ! So you have no amp at all on these vids? that is amazing, guess I need a Boss recorder deck.

  • im afraid recently ive wimped out and got 9s shhh! yeah no amp here either, that boss thing is a pretty crazy toy. thanks mate

  • Where do you get such good backing tracks!

  • Where can I get this backing track!.

    Your amazing!

  • thanks, i got it from guitar techniques magazine

  • The drums sound quite wonky but the guitar playing get a five star rating for sure. Awesome job!

  • Sam great jam along my friend...peace...[Freddie]

  • wonderful cover, like the man itself, lots of emotion into this

    good job keep them coming

  • Maybe you can help me- I'm trying to get nice blues sounds out of my amp. But the tutorials and tips and such online are for people with Gain, Drive, Treble, Middle, Bass.

My amp has Pre Gain, Post Gain, Low, Middle, High.

So, I have no idea how to get away from the heavy metal distortion sound to the nice blues sound like you got in this video.

I'm dieingggg to get this sound. So if you can help that would rock socks!

  • things vary alot from amp to amp, i turn my gain right up and controll it on the guitar i usualy have bass at 7 mids at 4 treble at 7. rock on mate

  • But I mean like. Mine has low mid high, Is low bass. And High Treble then?

And pre gain and post gain, what are those?

  • If you want less distortion, set the Post gain higher and your pre gain lower. Basically, set your pre-gain for the amount of distortion you want, then use your post-gain as a volume control.

    Low = Bass

    High = Treble

  • thanks very much, i aim to please :)

  • 5 stars, Sam. Would had been nice Jimi played some Les Pauls back then.

    Robin :o)

  • thanks robin, always great to see your comments

  • Its like Hendrix had sex with Joe Bonammassa's Mum and Paul Gilbert christened the child ... the child is now a man .. you are the man!

HAHAHA, in other words ... awesome stuff again Sam!

  • HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAH you are right! Nice comment dude...

  • hahaha! nice one mate! :D

  • your definitely one of my most worthwhile subcriptions.

  • thanks im glad you like the videos

  • Just wow, I think Jimi would be proud if he saw this. *thumbs up*

  • thanks mate, i hope so. mr hendrix was a legend!

  • That was awesome!!!!!

  • thanks very much
