This is another deleted song from the animated version of 101 Dalmatians. I set the song to play along with story board art from the special features section of the 101 Dalmatians DVD. The song was written by Mel Leven. The song was originally produced to be sung by Pongo, Perdita, and the puppies. The song begins after the dalmatians escape Cruella and board the van heading for London. The song ends as Cruella catches up to the van.
Ulysses. The comment I made about Perry being old and sick at the time of the recording, I learned from an interview with Andrew lloyd webber, who was saying it was an honour for Perry to sing his music. I also said that it was beautifuly sung and all you can pick up on is the fact that it was 1973 and he was not sick, and then call me a moron. The word idiot springs to mind.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this is what chritmas is all about. Perry Como was very old and sick when he sung this song and you would never know it. beautifuly written and beautifuly sung. The best Christmas song ive ever heard.
Believe it or not, this song was composed and recorded for the 1974 spy thriller "The Odessa File" (based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth) which starred Jon Voight and Maximilian Schell. It can be heard during the opening credits as Voight drives around Berlin at Christmas time, 1963. Good movie, BTW.
@jonathanturk I think you're right about Hamburg. Haven't watched the movie in a while, myself... just got an old copy off a VHS rental tape from the 80's. Definitely a good enough movie to upgrade to DVD!
Hate to be niggly-piggly and I do really like this song very much and as good as the London Boys Choir is they have a very poorGerman accent and it makes it very difficult to understand what they're actually singing. Too bad they couldn't have used a German boys choir. Little more authentic.
How did I get to be 58 and never heard this song until now? If anything, it's more appropriate than when it was first recorded, and the video is just as beautiful as the lyrics. Rest in peace, Mr. C -- you left us a wonderful musical legacy.
wow beautiful video and i love thise song my dad used to sit me on his knee and sing thise to me and take a sock making it it into a puppet lol he still sings it but im too bog to sit on his knee and for sock puppets but thise song gives me great memories
I just watched the movie "The Odessa File" and the moment I heard this sound I knew I had to track it down to get it on mp3 player. This is a terrific song and now I have to listen and find out what Perry Como also has sung that I might like.
' faid to say SandraWrites but it was used in a post nazi war film and although it is a pretty little christmas song i along with possibly lots of other people wrongly associated with the horrors of the holocaust.
Strange how NONE fothe jews were ever prosecuted for attocities against the British in Palestine. Maybe Simon Weisenthal should have put his own house in order first. The old saying people who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stonesStop mopaning about ""Nazis"2 etc All of the officers were under orders inwartime and NONE should ever have been prosecuted. Strange how the yanks got away with the same crimes against the Red indian nothing was said .Nonetheless a great song.
@timmyb58 They play it on our local radio staion here in Upstate NY. One of our radio stations here switch to all Christmas music around the second week of November through December 25.it really is a nice song :) Merry Christmas.
Perry Como has an amazing voice. A slightly better version by Mr Como is at the start of the film "The Odessa File". Isla St Clair also did a wonderful version, her Scottish accent just adds something to the song. Unfortunately I only have vinyl copy of Isla, no digital version.
thanx for posting ... lol ..first time I heard it here in quebec city on the radio... took me a couple of years to find out who sang it :-) Happy Holidays to all!!
I could understand everything said up until the kids sang and then I couldn't hear so well. But despite my bad hearing and maybe a few audio problems, I really like this song. We should all slow done and live life for the experience. I love Christmas!
@nickatnoon61: You REALLY need to watch this video and/or the full film on DVD.
''Joyeux Noël''
Hate and anger only serve to make you weaker - not stronger. Don't condemn an entire group of people for the actions of a few. That's s sign of mental illness.
Respond to this video... racist bastard......leave Christmas, Perry Como and the Jews alone....you are one of the many reasons this world is about to implode...you become inflammatory over a damn damn Christmas song....go combust in a hole somewhere .......;

Maybe we could all take the lyrics to heart? Hope you had a great holiday.

Perry Como was very good. Somewhat over shadowed by the Frank Sinatras, Tony Bennets and Dean Martins of the era but definitely a great performer.

It's a shame the powers that be forced You Tube to eviscerate so many movie clips. You know what I'm talking about, You Tube.
Funny, the powers that be are so busy destroying America you think they'd leave us with something, apparently they will not.

@billace90 (ENGLISH) Lie conducts the world, honesty rarely brings money
Everyone should like to be the victor, who loses remains alone;
But some will is made possible by the imagination
You die to live and take to give,
Once a year is all true
Christmas to remember,
Forget it, certainly not.

lies rule the world, honesty rarely earns money
everybody wants to be the winner, he who looses stays alone
But quite some will/intention becomes reality through fantasy
you die to live and you take to give
this becomes true once per year
at Christmas, don't forget
make sure you don't forget
