Well after hearing from you I decided to go and start it up to see how bad it really was. Low and behold it would not even start. What a bummer! Brand spanking new and it well not start. So off to a authorized dealer to work on it. The dealer is backed up with work so he not sure how long it will be . This is getting to suck big time. I plan on using it next month. Keep you posted.
You could likely make an adjustment. I had offered to try on his (as he isn't even remotely competent with mechanical stuff) but he just said he would rather just get a new one.
I have a feeling walmart buys in such bulk that they get what you would call Seconds or grade B quality control units. happens with everything from the toilet you buy at home depot will have some sort of flaw, to the computer you buy at best buy won't have the highest grade components.
It shouldn't be surging like that in either mode. Did you buy that from walmart ? my brother had the same problem with the one he bought from there and exchanged it.
Your right. Now it runs very smooth. I am very happy with it and half the price of Honda. I use it three times a year dry camping.

What a pain to go through, to take it back. Did his second one do the same thing? Maybe it is something I can adjust on the carb.

I wouldn't plug anything electronic into that.
