You really can't speak Japanese? Or were you joking, seemed like you kinda understood in the interview. How do you survive :o like there's no English ATM or anything xD.
you are all right rhyming. love what you do. Stay positive and creative. I was laughing a bit at the earlier clips because you looked younger, but it was me being happy to see that you are progressing with getting seen in Japan for your music.
In addition, YOUTUBE is worldwide so you could rap anywhere. Doing it in Tokyo, only adds a small grain of salt to the full picture of your potential talent, IMO. Sure the USA is flooded with ENglish speaking rappers, but only the best make it to the top or get notice. Real talk, if you hot, you hot anywhere, the environment to perform in can be an good visual but as soon as you spit, the truth speaks for itself.
Here's one: RG, you want to rhyme in English, you don't want to speak Japanese (or do any other Japanese culture type of thing) so..WHY do it in Japan? Why not do the same shyt in the US back in Philly or Pittsburgh.?? I don't see the advantage except for the plethora of Japanese around. What good is that if you don't integrate; aint no legit media outlet gonna put you on here without Japanese. I mean, you can get on channel 10 back in Philly and do the same type show you posted on here.
While I do think you should learn Japanese on a personal level, Japanese in regards to your music would only alienate current listeners/viewers etc, as I assume most of them don't speak/arent Japanese, therefore it would no longer be aimed at them and wouldn't be for them to relate to. Plus your videos would then be full of comments from people sat in front of dictionaries correcting you. Then again you could always do both english and japanese one freestyled, one written... could work well...
@Rhyminggaijin I was homeless in Japan because my girlfriend's parents kicked us out. I hadn't received my visa yet and couldn't work anywhere, so I didn't pay for anything lol. For example, how are you doing it? Just oddjobs?
@YouKilledAlan I am a full time English teacher with a 4 yr university degree, I live in a comfortable guest house. I don't go out drinking on the weekends or buy manga or video games . I don't go out eating often . I work on my music 24/6 , on one day I watch movies with my GF :)
@Rhyminggaijin Films, TV shows, other advertisements, radio appearances. I just think it will open doors for you? Besides you might actually enjoy learning it :P I'm currently studying it at Uni :)
@Rhyminggaijin Actually, Dante has done a couple of JP Dramas, a few Japanese B-Rated JP flicks and you can catch him on Cable TV shows too doing English stuff. AND every once in awhile he is on a variety show, with limited speech tho; he suffers the lack of Japanese; like you. Not sayin its big time but along with is Softbank checks he working his profession. And it helps that his wife is a model and has her own line of products; I guess as long as he makes money she'll keep him around:)
@NOOTIII I mean his wife is an addition as far as in a survival-financial way. Meaning, they aint worrying about how they are gonna eat right or pay next years taxes. And not so much help to his career.
Good luck with everything, you have great rapping and musical ability and deserve to make it. But I agree with the others - learning even a little Japanese will go a long way.
wow you had grown alot through out your youtube career.. its pretty cool to see you evolve and do something big with your life.. and this is like a pinnacle step you had been taken which i also admire. glad your doing good bro. dont listen to others when they themselves didnt do shyt. so keep what your doing...
great vid for everyone to see why your doing what you do. the people that only watch this channel need to check out your messypro1 channel, only watching this one is like seeing half the picture
HAHA! You Look like a punk kid in those old videos. Like your Totally lost. Hey! I am a "Make a plan and work it" kind of guy so I respect what your doing. Thanks for answering my inquiry.
To truly be a successful rapper (famous) in Japan, one has to integrate enough to speak Japanese, otherwise you are only successful in the ears of those who can understand you. Rapping is about communicating more than just making music, I think. This is just my opinion. I think RG is successful cause he is doing what he wants in the place he wants to be. But there is more to it than that. Just my perspective, big ups and nothing but respect RG!
I'm here to be a artist too. Communication is key.
Very good video. It's been a treat for your fans watching you grow and mature throughout the years, not just talent-wise, but also as a person. You never changed what your purpose was from day one and another thing that does set you apart from other foreign entertainers out in Japan is your unselfishness. The higher you go, the the higher everyone around seems to go. You're like a Pied Piper, spreading honesty and purity that people can't help but follow and become a fan. You're that spark.
cool i get it more now. But I still think knowing Japanese is not a choice but mandatory. No foreigners living in Japan have ever gotten big in Japan without first being fluent. You know the examples. I can't imagine a foreign person living in America getting famous either without speaking English am i right? Good luck with everything bro. Rap hard study hard.
@ThePacificCrossing So are you saying because it hasn't been done I shouldn't try ? No one in my family graduated college, lived abroad or got on TV , should I have sat home and did something else because I didn't see the do it ? Also knowing Japanese and being fluent are 2 different things .
Amazing video!! I can see exactly where you've raised your level of Youtube video making and it'll definitely be a step in the super Youtuber direction!
Man, how did you guys get on TV in Japan? Is it common for foreigners to get on TV or is it just being in the right place at the right time or knowing the right person?
@AndySan its about luck , timing and being in the right place , lots of gaijins get on TV for one thing or another usually its has something do with them being a gaijin in Japan
To be honest if you want to be successful in what you do you have to be original and creative to capture your audience and fan base alike. It seems to be the trend these days to become a hip-hop star on youtube it so many people doing it. So your going to have to set yourself apart from the rest you will need to figure out how to do that it not easy but you can do it I believe.
PS: You did improve on your freestyle game which is good keep it up.
@Rhyminggaijin Yes I bought your album and yes I like it. I am not just talking about Hip-Hop you tubers in japan I am talking about Hip-Hop on youtube in general because youtube is worldwide so your going to have people watching you all over not just in japan unless your limited yourself to only the Japanese audiences then I see your point. But I am talking about setting yourself apart from everyone not just hip-hop you-tubers in japan but the ones in America, England, Canada.
lol this video's great! i'm trying to figure out why i want to go to japan and though it may not be the same reason as you i think we all can agree that anything can happen in the land of the rising sun
Nowhere better in the World to make your dreams come true like in Japan!!!!! It's another planet not country, I love this place!!! The food tho...ahem, I try to find a Moe Burger or McDonalds anytime I can..lol
@kodoku7otaku there are Japanese people who do avoid burgers and fries , in fact there are many Americans that do too. If culture was only based the food you ate , then yea a person would be missing out BIG time but there are many things that go in have a great experience
Dam man I'm watching this video, I didn't even know you and David was on TV like that. fking proud of you man. Keep doing your thing. You are on the right track.
