So as mentioned earlier, 95% of the time when you hear the kh5l and it sounds different its more then likely being caused from it getting dirty and worn out.
Well a train horn is like any other device or piece of equipment. Like a lawnmower or chainsaw if it's not taken care of it can go bad and not work right. There are no 'tones' to the k5hl or any train horn for that matter. What happens is over time the horn gets hot and dirty so when air goes through the horn the bells of the horn end up playing slightly different notes; in turn this gives the horn a slightly different chord sound. Now the kh5l series also...
Nathan and airchime mean the same thing. Nathan is the company that makes the airchime series and k5hl is the model of the horn. A gevo has nothing to do with anything because it the name (General Electric Evolution series) of the model of locomotive. Which I might add is made by GE locomotive works.
