I know we have free speech in this Nation/corporation. But not all speech is protected. Free speech is relative not absolute.

Now this Hate Crimes Bill will provide extra protection to those demographic groups that have been historically victimized.

The passing of this legislation is "to stop hate crimes of conduct not for speech."

Why are Caucasains so upset? That you might be held to a higher standard for your raccist actions? Like Blacks.

I used a rhetorical device called "reductio ad absurdum" or following an idea to its ridiculous conclusion. Many of us whose ancestors came from England or Scotland are very sensitive about certain legal concepts. One of those is "punishment should fit the crime". If I commit a crime I should be punished for what I did, regardless of what I was thinking while I did it. If I kill a black man because I hate blacks, I should be put to death. If I kill a black man to take his money, ditto.

I hold similar views. A crime is a crime. However one commits a tort against a "person" with the intention of dehumanizing that person based off of a natural born condition (or sexual preference), it should be viewed in a different light, should it not?. In comparison to a human being committing a crime/tort w/the sole intention of financial gain. Society is "enlightened" so society Must hold it self to a higher standard. Do you not agree? So yes "punishment should fit the crime"

We have free speech here in the US. It is nearly absolute, so far. The US Supreme Court allows VERY few exceptions regarding political opinions. In the US one does NOT have a right not to be offended.

If a human being with Black skin stated that if 1 wants to commit a hate crime, to rob the victim after they are dehumanized for being born with a different skin color (white) to take their money so it (the hate crime) would be considered a robbery versus a hate crime.
