it is his leg. notice the light from the window. the glare that extends in front of the bass drum, that is coming from the window in the background.  since he is a right handed the highhat is on his left side. notice how it goes with every down strum of Mr. Gregory Hoskin's guitar. he is keeping time. yes it stops for a while because that is what the song calls for. then you will notice it picks up as the Mr. Hoskins sings louder. ok so enough of "ghost" sticks.
