That poor horse, there has acually been a horse that has drowned at appleby horse fair before, coz the rider was a dick head and let the reins get twisted.

I watched this fair on BBC TV Animals 24/7. The RSPCA are there every year watching what they do. I found it horrific. Those poor animals are stressed. I don't understand it. Why are they doing this ?

It's exciting to be in amongst it and learn from the skills on display.
There is sometimes evidence of horses having near misses but that doesn't mean to say the activity should be banned. There's now an abundance of "Jobs Worths" on hand to prevent accidents - Long Live Appleby!
