  • Are you running the amp clean with pedals for distortion? Or is the amp also distorted?

  • I just picked up one of these Vox NT amps and love it but the down side is no effects loop. I plugged my Holy Grail in front of it and it it sounds terrible! Especially with distortion. Any idea how to get a good reverb with this amp--maybe I need a different reverb unit? Thanks to anyone with any suggestions.

  • @univibe23 IMHO the Holy Grail is a complete POS no matter what amp you plug it into, but that's neither here nor there. I think the issue is that 'verb pedals react differently to each individual amp they're plugged into, case in point the Lee Jackson Mr. Springy sounded AMAZING in the store through a Bassman and crappy through my THD Flexi. I've had an amazing amount of luck with the Malekko Chicklet pedal. Sounds and FEELS like real reverb. Nothing else out there quite like it, try one!

  • Thanks @bigtophalloween. I agree with you about the HG--not very good. I use it in the effects loop of my Blackstar ht5 and it is acceptable. I'll have to check out the Malekko.

  • @univibe23 Hope you like it and it works for you. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about it is it's pink. I wish it had a little longer tail to it, but other than that the Chicklet is awesome, probably the best 'verb out there and I've tried just about everything out there. If you want real spring reverb the Demeter Verbulator pedal is pretty awesome, but it's expensive, takes up a lot of space, and mine is broken after less than a year. The Malekko sounds damned near perfect to my ears...

  • @univibe23 Hi! about the reverb...any delay/reverb sounds like crap before a distortion. Unless you use a clean tone and a distortion pedal BEFORE the reverb, you're screwed (sorry to say). Maybe you can have your amped modified in orden to get a loop...

  • Awesome. 25w, 65w or 100w M75?

  • That was a 25w one. I have a slightly different setup these days I should post when I get time.

  • so i take it the night train takes effects well?

  • That's a bloody awesome crunchy sound you got there! I love it! Also awesome playing!

  • Nice. What are your settings on the Night Train?

  • Thanks. I was on the Bright mode with the gain at about 2 o'clock, the mids and bass around 12 o'clock and the treble around 2 o'clock, and the volume around 8 o'clock

  • Nice thick tone man! I dig it!
