This could be such a brilliant film if they release it. However, the fact that the film is a story told through multiple perspectives is going to make it REALLY difficult.
If someone can cut all of the different elements together (35mm, 16mm, black-and-white, color, footage with stand-ins), it would be a miracle, because the only way one could do so is to somehow lock onto Welles's brainwave!
The context is that this is a "film within a film" - the John Huston character in "The Other Side of the Wind" is a legendary but over-the-hill film-maker, trying to make a comeback with this, a hip, with-it film full of sex and violence. Take a look at the film's entry on Wikipedia, it has lots of detail on both the film's plot, and why it's not been completed until now.
I has never knew nor awared about this project. But upon readed at 'Unfinished Movies' website which has landed me to this one. Very surrealist with film nior surrounding similar to Welles' previous movie outings, as this one seemingly updated from his last ones. I am lookin' forward to have it released sometime.
Yes, thanks for posting this. As a photographer/filmmaker greatly influenced by Welles this clip is inspiring to say the least. The energy in the editing, the lighting, and the dispassionate acting on the part of the male actors leaves me wondering 'where is this film going!'
Strange to see Orson do a film like this, however I am also unaware of the context. From all the clips of the film that I have seen, I can see no relation between them.
@Rustythejester It would be great to see, but I think it can only be a letdown, just because all such projects are usually letdowns.
Don't get me wrong, when I heard a rumour that Scorsese was going to do Kubrick's Napoleon script, my heart skipped a beat. But then again, I was excited about A.I....
@marcolopolis55 The question of whether Scorsese was "really going to do it" is probably a little hard to determine, considering that he has been associated with a lot of unrealized films. I imagine the poor reception of A.I. scuttled the Napoleon project, and there was supposedly a book version of the script coming out as well, but I don't know whether that is happening. I found the script on a website awhile ago (it's long gone, of course). It would have been amazing.
First Dislike!! :D

visually stunning; great to see this. I hope one day may see the release of this film. Orson was clearly something of a voyeur...

Suspect that Oja Kodar would know of any remaining footage in Orson's
archive that will not see the light of day. Perhaps criterion edition or other
producers will release material from Welles. Welles was decades ahead
'Hollywood' The auteur has passed on but his films & legend will endure.
Spielberg produces commercial tripe!

Oja Kodar, fookin top actress! Any film lab pirates willing to 'dig out'

@wookie72 A.I. leaped way ahead of Plan 9 From Outer Space as the worst movie ever made. Spielberg might have the worst two. The other would be Hook.

@wookie72 Was Scorsese really going to do it? what happened?

@marcolopolis55 According to Wikipedia, the film footage is still being held up by a dispute over Welles' estate.
