News networks are going to air whatever they think people will buy. Sadly, I suspect most people would rather be hearing about Jay Leno's career than that of Illinois' now defunct Governor. As for me, it's nice to know what's going on in America's politics but I can't blame anyone for being sickened by hearing about a new scandal in this or that public figure's life every time they turn their TV on.
britethorn, you are boring and 100% uninformative. Always picking news bits that are really... well.. nothing. I'll be sure to steer clear of anymore of your videos.
I was watching also but by the time Jay Leno came in Patrick Fizgerald had left the live conference and msnbc was just repeating itself for about half an hour...This whole story stared around 10:30 eastern time..
I'm sorry but five nights a week as it wasn't enough of Leno!Letterman could do better late night justice than that.I watch Letterman's show-I always watched CBS over NBC through the years(LOL-I said "years" and I only been on this planet for twenty and a half years!).But for that governor who tried to sell Obama's senate seat-Obama showed him the boot,he's like hell no I have nothing to with you or your scemes you better quit.Way to go Obama show who's boss here!
Yes, I agree--Letterman is MUCH better than Leno. Anyways, why is Jay Leno "news" anyways?! Oh yeah, because he is on NBC! The Gov. of Illinois actually trying to SELL Obama's former Senate seat?! I want MORE info. about THAT STORY--THAT is interesting...and just goes to show how CORRUPT the governor is!
For what its worth, it sounds as though he's going to be Impeached very soon or he will resign. There's more political blood in the water than I've ever seen in Illinois politics --and a Senate seat suddenly up for grabs.
Yeah, this Governor really ought to be in JAIL for such actions!! CRAZINESS!! Good to know it's just "politics as usual" over there in your State. I thought CA. (my home state) had NUTTY politicians!!
"...yesterday, December 7th, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. We will come back to that, but first, here is Red Buttons announcing a 4 week engagement at the Sands in Las Vegas. Take it away Edward Murrows ..."
A governor was accussed of something horrible and we go to Leno???? Why?? I don't even watch him because I have a job and have to get up early to WORK!!!
I don't watch Leno because because there are about a million other things on cable and the internet which are more entertaining. I REALLY hope his show bombs and the affiliate stations start screaming at NBC for having killed the lead in to their local news shows--FIVE days a week!!
Leno is such a moron compared to David Letterman. Like changeurfilter said about Jon Stewart, theres a number of other hosts out there that are as funny or funnier than Leno, but the difference is: they talk about important issues and know how to ask their guests the tough questions.
Face it, Leno's a bigger story in America. Corrupt polititians are a dime a dozen. After awhile it's just blah, blah, blah. One can hardly be expected to be suprised after the last administration's hangover. Americans don't care as much about that as they do about entertainment and gossip anyway, sad but true. Still... at least the Leno story was suprising.
Just because corrupt politicians are a dime a dozen, doesn't mean we should just accept that. The news has a responsibility to the public to report issues that affect them. Ratings, consultants, and info-tainment have certainly wielded more and more influence over the news in recent years, but that doesn't make it right.
I share britethorn's outrage. It's time for network executives to stop bullying news producers on what makes air, and when.
Sure the news has a responsibilty but we won't hold them to, it anymore than we do the politicians. We don't pay attention, we're too eager to believe what be want to believe, we don't care until something effects us individually and directly, until it hits home. There's very little thought of consequences beforehand. It's more about a perception than the big picture. The truth has nothing to do with the news or politics. Where do you think the news and politicians come from anyway?
Where was this story announced last week,? Rumors maybe. Besides... you're missing my point entirely. As far as cable news goes The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is much more informative and entirely entertainig.
Hahha.. I am also from Illinois and this pisses me off!!! George Ryan to this idiot?? .. and He has been running a dirty office from the day he took on the Governor gig! .. and what really pisses me off is that they don't take him down like they do the criminals in the TV show, Cops!! They should've busted in and threw him down.. snapped on the cuffs!!! UGH! COME ON!! hahhaa
OH and a answer to your question is.. sure they would of.... if it was a real attack or they were not ready to spin the false inside job attack.. See they messed up so bad at the last one ... they could not let that happen again... They need to make sure they got all there ducks in a row.
funny how this happens 19 hrs after he halts business with BofA...very strange indeed...who pulls the strings...the banks or the bush administration...or maybe the illuminati...i didnt believe in them till today...seems that we have an ubergoverment behind the scenes...i dont believe the indictment in light of yesterdays news confrance...same thing happened to Gov of New York days after he wrote an editoral against the banks and the federal goverment concerning preditory loans...

My guess is that because it had to do with NBC. If Leno was on ABC, they wouldn't have covered it at all. It's all BS

LOL! Very nice! But was the Sands open in 1941?
britethorn 3 years ago
Good call. Seems it opened in 1951 which makes Red Buttons quite a visionary.

Yeah, but it must have been pretty lonely for him performing out in the desert by himself.
