  • I think it should be stated here in public forum that the young gentleman who made this bet actually no longer eats beef. His reasons are vastly differ the reasons that the girl has for being a vegan, but still, its an interesting post script to this whole melodrama.

  • hey, here's a joke. how many vegans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

    None! they can't change anything!

  • It's pretty amazing to me that, seeing what the girl is going through, those guys aren't willing to be vegetarians for one lousy month out of respect for what the girl is doing. I'm really impressed by the girl, actually. If I lost a bet that would mean I'd gag while eating something I found deplorable, and I knew the guys with whom I'd made the bet probably wouldn't hold their end up and be poor sports about the whole thing, I'd tell them to go to hell when they put the steak in front of me.

  • The dudes in this video are a bunch of fucking dooshbags. The mark of a great winner and a great individual is being gracious and respectful toward your adversary when they must face the fact that they've lost. The girl isn't punking out on the bet, which is brave and bad ass. Vegans are, as a rule, more honorable people, evidenced by their choice to be compassionate and responsible. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but those guys are mama's boys and idiots. They wouldn't've stayed veg for a day.

  • lol what a surprise that the vegan was a 'she'. dumb vegan cunt

  • Hey, iEatHippies, you think the girl is stupid because she thinks about what she eats instead of just eating whatever gets shoved in front of her, or whatever she sees on a KFC or Chili's commercial, like most Americans do? You're tough, Pokemon. What are you gonna think of me when I beat the crap out of you and take your milk money every day when you leave your sixth grade math class until I have enough money for a pack of cigarettes? You'll be eating this hippie's boot heel, loser.

  • My brother is wearing the obama t-shirt

  • What a profoundly idiotic bet. Why not agree to kill and eat a human, if you lose your next bet? If this silly, silly child gave a shit about her veganism (which, she doesn't) she'd never have agreed to this bet in the first place.

  • dumbass, it's obvious she cared a lot. she was willing to eat a portion of steak so that someone wouldn't eat animals for a whole month. that's dedication.

  • No, it's obvious that she doesn't care *at all* about her veganism. No actual vegan would make this bet; I wouldn't. Why not propose to own a slave for a month to "prove" that slavery is wrong? It's an idiotic thing to propose, and this girl is just a dilettante.

Going vegan for a month doesn't mean ANYTHING. Go vegan for the rest of your *life* and then you're accomplishing something.

  • it's not about accomplishing something, it's about saving animals lives. she made the bet because it was worth it to eat a little steak for the chance that many animals would have their lives saved. It was worth the risk. And ppl saying that she doesn't care about veganism is laughable since i live with her and she's the most die-hard animal rights activist ever.

  • It's laughable all right, but not for the reasons you think.

  • Ok I understand where you're coming from, but as the guy she bet, it was actually a good move for the over all cause of veganism. I ate the other 7/8 of the the steak for dinner so the cow would die anyway. I simply gave her the rest.

In a month I eat some meat at least once a day, so if she won the bet, she wouldve saved at least 30 animals lives. So yeah, if I believed in veganism Id say it was a smart bet for her. For me it was just a funny and long standing inside joke between old friends.

  • The point you're missing is that "going vegan" for a month doesn't save ANY animal lives, as you readily point out yourself: you were going to eat the rest of that steak, anyway, so the animal killed for that meat would have been purchased by you *regardless*.

If you go vegan for a month, and eat the flesh of animals for years and years afterward, you haven't really done anything but pat yourself on the back for "helping animals." For a month.

I'm sure that there are plenty of non-vegans...

  • ...who see this bet as some kind of ethical proposition, but if you really look at it, all this person is saying is that veganism as an ethical proposition doesn't mean anything and can be discarded on a bet.

Maybe that's what it means to *her*. But that doesn't make her an "animal rights activist." It makes her a dilettante, and the AR movement has too many of THOSE already.

  • The point is that we aren't going to significantly change the billions of animals exploited, tortured and killed for food until there are significant numbers of vegans in the general population. We will never - EVER - get to that point if people look at this idiocy and assume that this is what being vegan means - discard your "ethical principles" (that you don't actually believe in, anyway) if you lose a stupid bet.

  • To those of you under the impression that she's done something "honorable" by following through with this bet, and if you ACTUALLY think she's an "animal rights activist," think it through: would it be okay if she ate a human, after losing a bet? Would it be okay if she raped someone after losing a bet?

Animals are raped, tortured and murdered by the billions to turn into "food." But that's acceptable for this "vegan" to eat: she lost a bet, after all.

  • loool shame,

    obama rules!!

  • And now Obama won it all, see everything worked out, unless your Jamie is guess.

  • Kinda chubby for a vegan. Healthy diet? I don't think so!!

  • Thats harsh damn.

  • stupid girl. even if i bet somebody that, i wouldn't actually eat the steak. nobody would force you to do it. shows how much you care about being veg.

  • she is totally dedicated to being vegan, i think it was 3 months as a vegan, and before that vegetarian for i think a year or so. but these two had been going at it w/ obama vs hilary for so long, they wanted to have some seriously huge bet on the outcome. it took serious dedication for her to eat that steak.

  • She obviously is not dedicated to being a vegan. A true vegan would not make this choice against their beliefs, bet or no bet. A vegan does not consume or use animal products. There is not a problem with the bet that was placed or who won or lost; the problem is it is incorrect to call yourself a vegan.

  • Hey as the person who she bet against, I promise that she is certainly dedicated to being vegan. First off: I def would have forced her to eat it. 2nd: She is a good person and kept her word. 3rd: In her view it was worth it if I was gonna be vegetarian for a month cuz I eat a lot of meat. So to her the potential reward outweighed the risk. So no she's not stupid.

  • Jamie you knew this was coming. Cmon...Hillary?!

  • MOOOOOOO MOOOOOOO MOOOO

  • Who would bet against Obama anyway? Im sooooo glad I won this bet. Victory is sweet and now the world can see it.

    P.S. Moooooo
