  • 0:06 and this goi juss about free feet away stah'id really getin on boogin on dayown" ooohhhhmmmmyyyygoooooodddd i looooove english accents!!

  • Seriously? Just enjoy the video for what it is! Yes all English people don't sound the same. and neither do Americans. It differs across the country - same here and probably just about anywhere you go!

  • They need subtitles :|

  • @princessley1 lol i know what u mean!!

  • Flashmobs make me smile

  • 21 people where late for work....

  • People should do this more often. i'm sure it would make so many people happy. I would certainly be

  • Watching this certainly made my day! Wish I was there but all the same I'm smiling!

  • WOW I ONLY UNDERSTOOD 1 WORD FROM :34 TO :38

  • I LOVE THE ACCENTS

  • Turn transcribe audio on. *Giggle*

  • All Brits dont speak with a London accent and we are a United Kingdom of England Ireland Scotland & Wales. We all have our own Languages as well as differing accents, the same I am sure of most countries in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • Just thought I'd add to that there isn't really one London accent either. Some reckon there's different regional accents in London, too, like East London, South London (can't easily tell the difference easily, myself, and I've lived in London all my life).

Personally, I think what is being criticised in this video is more a case of lazy diction than being a London accent. You can find this with most regions & accents. A person with any accent can still speak clearly and understandably.

  • If some of you Americans think you use better English than British people, think again. We got English from the British.

I'm an American btw but I'm just saying this to my fellow Americans.

  • That is the point of flash mobs, they usually make people feel better. looks like so much fun.

  • Doesn't that last lady look like Brick Top from the movie Snatch?

  • @DougMcHead

    HAHA xD... yes she does

  • lol reading these comments lol! omg dont the americans go all funny when they find out we dont sound like the cast of mary poppins lol! ahahahahahah omggg amused my hung over weekend now lol XD

  • Damn that blonde @ 0:38 is hot.

  • Comment removed

  • blonde girl was pretty :)

  • 0:15-0:18.."Dizzwazzageezadozzaand waywerenit?"

  • @trinitymike haha that bit must sound so funny to someone who isn't English. 'There was this old Geezer dancing away, and this woman...'

  • :12

Can anyone tell me why British people say "were" instead of "was" a lot?

  • @pomegranateish it's not "British people" who say that. It's dialect or, in some cases, plain colloquial. There are Americans who say "was" instead of "were" which I find even more bewildering.

  • @noapologiesnoregrets

It is British people. And it's not colloquial, it is WRONG. To say "she were..." or anything of the sort is such an obvious error. It's an embarrassment. What do you mean, Americans sometimes say "was"? Was is a word, you know. As in "she was...". Can you explain why you are bewildered by grammatically correct speech? Or are you talking about something else now?

  • @pomegranateish what? No, it's not "British people"! It is, as I already told you, either a dialect or a sociolect, although I guess it's the latter. And no, I didn't mean "was" like in"he was" but like in "they was ..." Have you never heard that?

  • Comment removed

  • @pomegranateish - it's not wrong, it's INFORMAL! People don't dance, drink or date in subject-verb-object grammar (which governs written and very formal spoken language) they use topic comment grammar, which is the grammar of informal speech, and all languages - such as Swahili or British Sign Language - which lack a common written form. Thanks for letting me educate you...

    h.

  • @cinnamonbrandylite

You are mistaken. You have failed to differentiate common errors and informality.

It's not like I expect perfect grammar from anyone, but "she were" is freaking terrible.

  • @pomegranateish So what if British people say "she were" instead of "she was". It is not only British people who use informal language. Americans are worse for it! If anything, the British are better for using proper English. Americans change our language and then they think they have the right to tell us how we should speak! If they want to be like that then we should have the right to say, "What you call jelly, we call jam and so should you."

  • @MelliBabes not all Americans are incompetent at grammar, but I must say the person who criticized that informality certainly made an *ss out of themselves. In their defense, they probably don't know a thing about British slang and lazy speak. If that is a defense...Come on, people, do we have nothing better to do than nitpick at someone's grammar or ignorance of slang? Seriously...let's enjoy the videos. I know I did. Brings a smile to my heart. :)

  • @ndividuall I know they aren't I was just pointing out how silly they were to pick on British over how they speak! But yes, I agree with you. This video is amazing. :')

  • @ndividuall Agreed. :)

  • @pomegranateish not all Americans are incompetent at grammar, but I must say you did make yourself look not only ignorant, but also paradoxically like snob simultaneously . In your defense, you probably don't know a thing about British slang and lazy speak. If that is a defense...Come on, people, do we have nothing better to do than nitpick at someone's grammar or ignorance of slang? Seriously...let's enjoy the videos. I know I did. Brings a smile to my heart. :) Come on. Smile. You can do it!

  • @pomegranateish Read what everyone has put to your correction of someone's miner mistake that means nothing to what they was putting about the video, you'll understand. Not hard to figure out.

  • they guys accent at 0:24 really doesn't seem to suit him :|

  • "And this GOY"! lmao

  • Not to me mean but didn't that last lady look like Bricktop from that Brad Pitt movie Snatch? If you took his glasses off

  • The lady at the end said she was in a bad mood and after the flash mob she was in a good mood. That's the whole idea of a flash mob. To surprise regular people in their every day lives with something special which makes you feel good. And I'm certain it had the same effect on more people.

  • @Leviwosc thats a really good way to put it! so right!

  • can someone traduce what the second girls says PLEASE

  • @Grimberg95 "abd this guy, about 3 feet away, started really getting on and boogeying on down"

  • @Grimberg95 "and this guy, about 3 feet away, started really getting on and boogeying on down"

  • I'm from England (WOOOOT) and sumtimes i can't make out wot americans r sayin so just chill yeh?

  • this is really paradise ! I like happy people lives .

  • There's no such thing as a British accent... unless you combine Scottish, Northern Irish, Welsh and English together.

  • @hegroves Yeah I hate it when say I'm from Britain, I'd prefer England :D

  • @AidenJSS Haha- definitely! I guess the rest of the world hears "Britain" so much more than "England"... so it becomes a British Accent ;D Haha

  • @hegroves :O You should do a video of 'The British Accent' just throw in all the ones you know :D :D

  • @hegroves there's an asian accent though

  • @DipDop99 Don't be an idiot. America has some 300 million people can't be compared to UK with 62 million people. Let's split these #s in 1/2, lets say half of each countries population is smart and the other half isn't so bright. However you look at it America still out ways UK so UK's statistics will look good compared to America's. With a large population we have a lot more people, so our statistics stagger in comparison. And a lot more room for false info to spread due to popular beliefs.

  • فکر نمیکنید اخوند سر منبر و آن گریه تو سره زدن ها بهتر است؟ Where is civilization?

  • I loved the reactions. I'm American and speak only English (unless you count Ebonics) and I understood every word that everyone said. As a T-Mobile customer, I'd like to be asked to boogie on down!

Well of course you did! British and Americans use the same language, ENGLISH. :)

  • Comment removed

  • no offence mate but you geordies sound like whales :L

  • scouse scum haha

  • feck off

  • AT 216 She says "There was this geezer booging on down and this woman.."

Why is it Americans cant understand us but we can understand you lot perfectly? Even the dopey southern mongs?

  • The woman at :09/:10 is saying "boogin on down", very easy to understand. But the girl at :16? Uh-uh. I get the "There was this geezer.." part, but here's no way she's saying the words "booging on down". She (the girl at :16) says "There was this geezer...???...", but the next word sounds like it starts with a "d" or a muted "t"...I can't tell which. The remainder of the sentence is somewhat muddled. BTW, I can't understand my cousin from Louisiana (Cajun). At all. It goes both ways.

  • Linguists have stated that it is the "dopey southern mongs" that speak in a manner most closely resembling those of the UK.

The reason southerners talk "dopey" is because it gets so hot, you don't rush anything. A heavy accented Brit slurs words together with a mix of foreign slang that makes it hard to follow. I'd say Boston has some of the most difficult to follow speakers.

  • People from Wisconsin USA have funny english accents as well a little bit of how Sarah Palin speaks.

  • also people from Minnesota, my friend from there speaks in an odd accent

  • "dopey southern mongs"? I really hope you aren't referring to every Southerner with an accent. >:( We aren't really as "dopey" as you might believe so I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself if you can't say something that makes sense. I mean, really. You talk the same way as the Americans who make fun of YOUR accent.

Sheesh, everyone just needs to stop judging others on something as stupid as that (or at least, everyone needs to stop calling others names).

    What's a "mong" anyway?

  • lol jk

  • 1:22

  • what is the girl at 0:08 and the girl at 0:16 saying?? I'm obviously not from England, but honestly....wat?

  • "what is the girl at 0:08 and the girl at 0:16 saying?? I'm obviously not from England, but honestly....wat?"

:08 And dis guy, just about free feet away, star-id really gettin on bruisin on down

    :16

This is 'ow gayza dowzand avy in dis rivah.

    LOL.

  • ":16

This is 'ow gayza dowzand avy in dis rivah.

    LOL."

    LMAO

  • (reply to sternim77)

    Lol. English accents (:

I wonder if the thickness of the accent determines where you live in England.

  • The accent determines where you come from in England, not the 'thickness'.

  • alright i think i figured it out

girl at :08 says "and this guy, just about three feet away, started really getting boogying on down"

girl at :16 says (possibly this one is the hardest)

"There was this old geezer right? and he's moving"

  • its kinda obvious

i hate it when people over exadurate like that

  • theres this old geezer dancing away

  • ohhh! ok....

  • YEAH COSTA!!¬!!

I full on woulda joined in!!

  • I would of tooo, i would of immbarrassed my family lol.

  • The lady at the end sums it ALL up. Let's see more of this all over the world.

  • the advertising team that thought up this idea is brilliant. guerrilla marketing at its finest

  • How do you know it was guerrilla marketing?.

  • guerrilla marketing is when you do something simple and inexpensive that will explode into something major, where you won't have to spend much money to get the word out. This video created a huge buzz and is totally viral. That is guerrilla marketing.

  • well they did a fantastic job.

  • sheep

  • This was a wonderful idea, and flawlessly executed. Who could resist such fun! I wish I'd been there. I would have loved it!

  • Funny, all the smiles are on the video clip of the people at that station. Not so much in these posts. For shame. The dancing was awesome!

  • timmo, dear, what, exactly, are you complaining about? Every "North American" I know who has seen the advert loves it. I've sent it to many people, and the reaction is always great pleasure.

So sad to see that stereotypes, bigotry, ignorance,. and poor education exist everywhere. grahampl, I don't think timmo quite understands the concept of "post-modern irony."

  • timmo2k.. I love your sense of post-modern irony. Lern two spelle iddiot, abzaloote klassick!
