@MrStelog Say you have a superclass called "users", you could than create a subclass called "admin" that inherits and uses the common user methods like "login", "password" etc.. but has special methods for admins only.
@idiotrun1997 Hi, If you overwrite the eat() method in the child class with exactly the same code as the eat() parent class method you have two different methods with the same code but if don't overwrite the method in the chid class, there is only one method.
im doing eclipse and have a test and you are helping me get ready for the test and explaining things better than my actual uni lecturers thank you so much!!!
@Dcon6393 inheritance is actually one of the most important things in object oriented programming, its also one of the reasons for it to be so popular now a days.
I was waching a guy who had made a playlist for all buckys awesome vidz and he missed this tutorial!(it has to be the reason that the next tutorial is AWESOME!)!
You are the man Bucky - I have been trying to understand "this", "static", and "final" for years and after 3 or 4 of your short tutorials I understand. Thank you so much.
I think the voice behind the screen is a fatass, because the only thing he likes mentioning is food... I don't much blame him though, I'm a toothpick and I LOVE to eat...
@NoiceNhomon: I really respect the work of this guy, but you are a moron.. in class you learn the more more more specific, here's the general of it.. -.-' IDIOT!
Seriously, what the hell was I doing spending so much money to be confused in school when I could have just listened to Bucky once to understand what's going on!!!! It makes me mad and happy at the same time...more happy though.
Thanks so much for these easy to follow tutorial's. For this video you forgot to mention the protected keyword (you may mention this later as I am only this far). A base class should always have protected methods for classes inheriting these methods. This basically makes methods private to all other classes except the inheriting classes which has public visibility of the methods :P
@whitebenji Yea your right. Protected is visible to extended classes. Also a note. You can make private fields and have a public "getter" method to get each field. e.g. private int x; public int getX(){ return x;}. This means it will be available for all classes.
men i wach your tutorials seens 2009 and i started with phyton , continue like thak, i am 14 years old and mexican and i love programming because you explain things so easy
Many of my friends who know about extends tried to explain me about its functionality but I was not clear. Your 9.25 minutes make me so clear I hope I will not forget it. Thanks a lot. I will be always with your tutorial. I recommend all beginners to professionals your tutorial to make easy concept. Thanks again and hope you will keep going on.
I know this has been said way too many times but this shit is dope. Feels like all other programming instructors intentionally try to make it complicated when I compare them to you. Don't ever stop making your videos :)

To some it up for the lazy since he just made the complicated
public class tuna extends fish
Meaning that the class tuna would extend all things from the fish class so you can specialized the tuna and it would still be a fish.
Also for Minecrafters this is greatly used for the leaves block if you look.

1 question...can i inherit only 1 method from a class?
like something like this
public class tuna extends food.eat{
}
does this work?
spVIrUSeader 6 months ago in playlist Java Programming Tutorials
@spVIrUSeader If you want that, you could just go like:
//This is tuna class by the way
public void eat(){
food fewd = new food();
fewd.eat();
}
// I think that this would work, I'm not sure.
// The eat method on class food should be public as well.
