I really think that Dawn should have sang the first verse and that Cindy should have originally just sang the part that Dawn originally sang. When Cindy sings, "I can't get you outta my miiiiinddd," I go to another place. She kills that note!!!
I hope they start performing this song and Too Gone.. on their upcoming tours for next year, i like the setlist they have and how they perform NoX3 (Can't Come Back) and Riddle and Ooh Boy on some occasions.. But Whatever and Too Gone... were bigger hits. but just please give DAWN her leads for the songs, it was sad that Cindy got sing it here rather than Dawn.
they all are great singers alone. lucy pearl was hot. just people like en vogue as the original en vogue. sometimes going solo isnt great if you were hot in a group. Coko is swvs lead singer her solo career wasnt great either
Whatever would've been a BIGGER BETTER HIT if Dawn was still with the group.. She brought the sexy and seductive vibe to this track if you listen to the Remix where they left her vocals on.. I wish they'd perform this song on their RECENT shows with Dawn and give her back the 2nd Bridge part after Max she sounds so sexy on that part..
They could've done this song accapella and did an awesome job. It's rare to hear a group sing and actually sing the same exact way they sound on radio. There's no lip syncing or horrible sounds except the music. They would've blown it apart accapella.
Thank you for introducing me to En Vogue. I've heard of them, but didn't know them from Adam. Didn't even know it was a black female group. Yeah, I know -- I need a life.
No she was she left before their EV3 album was releseased so they had to go back in ther studio and re-recrd some of Dawn's lead but her background vocals still remian and some of her leads do to
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They trip me out with that dance they do at beginning.....u know I like Dawn but I think Rhona fits better they all seem to get along and have great chemistry on stage..I dont think Dawn wants to be apart of En Vogue anymore anyway....
I know it was sung by Cindy, Terry and Max but Dawn had a part in the song other then the ending and chorus. She had the "anything you do I crave it baby..." part, the part Cindy sung a second time. Dawn left the group after EV3 was completed and set to be released but once she left, the songs that had her on lead were re-recorded in order to confirm she left EV with the exception of Don't Let Go (Love)
The originals were the fire back in the day, but as a whole have lost their original intensity and "magic" together, mostly because of one individual's lack of effort and non-professionalism. However, the new/current line-up (which I call the Fantastic Funky Four) are truly phenomenal women and have the drive, determination and fire to keep it going for the rest of their careers. Keep on, keepin' on, ladies!
En Vogue is not En Vogue without the originals. They're on a much higher level with it's the four originals. Rhona's nice but she is not the right mix with EV3.
disagree; at this point, Dawn is not interested in En Vogue for the long haul. Everyone has their favs, but I think we have to be willing to move forward or stay stuck. In the words of e.badu, "I stay woke". Reality is reality, and reality at least right now is Rhona, Terry, Cindy, & Maxine.
This was amazing. Dawn's vocals were on a few songs on the EV3 album. She was on Let It Flow, Sittin By Heaven's Door and Let It Flow, most were adlibs. They are all amazing Vocalist. I wish they would have stayed 2gether. Rhonda is a good replacement tho.
Yeah they forgot to edit out her adlibs, but Too Long Too Gone was another.. During Maxine's part you can CLEARLY hear her in the backround and when they say "EVER"..
Wow! I have been fortunate enough to see the ladies live twice and I'm always amazed at how fantastic they sound live! Heck, Cindy sounds even better live. As for Dawn's ending... with you on that fruitylicious. Never thought I'd see it. I'm wondering mowhit1. It sounds exactly like the album. I always thought it was Terry, but now I'm scratching my head wondering. Either it's Dawn on the album or Terry does a heck of a job reproducing the sound. Another great performance!
@ziaad99 Wrong, it's Dawn on the album...all but two of the songs on EV3 still had all of Dawn's vocals. The two songs from EV3 without Dawn are "Eyes of a Child" and "Does Anybody Hear Me". The producers wanted to edit her out after Ms Thang up and left, but it is 100% Dawn on this track on the album. Terry just lip-synchs it in the music video since she has the closest vocal range to Dawn
@RyanS32 Dawn's lead vocals were re-recorded for the tracks that were released as singles but her background vocals remain. In the case of Whatever, Cindy takes the fourth verse, and Terry completes the whatever's at the end. Dawn's vocals on the chorus remain. If you listen to the Mousset Remix - you'll hear Dawn's original whatevers. If you lisen to the Mucho Soul Remix - you'll hear Dawn's original 4th verse. They are, indeed, clearly different despite the close vocal range of Terry and Dawn
This is the best band I've ever heard play this song with them!! Like seriously, they should put out a live album.
