  • This is the best band I've ever heard play this song with them!! Like seriously, they should put out a live album.

  • I really think that Dawn should have sang the first verse and that Cindy should have originally just sang the part that Dawn originally sang. When Cindy sings, "I can't get you outta my miiiiinddd," I go to another place. She kills that note!!!

  • I hope they start performing this song and Too Gone.. on their upcoming tours for next year, i like the setlist they have and how they perform NoX3 (Can't Come Back) and Riddle and Ooh Boy on some occasions.. But Whatever and Too Gone... were bigger hits. but just please give DAWN her leads for the songs, it was sad that Cindy got sing it here rather than Dawn.

  • they NEED to perform this song again as the original 4, i don't think they've performed it since Dawn returned!

  • @geordiexchucks IKR I LOVE LOVE DIS SONG

  • drums really complete the sound for a song like this

  • @da12nvmp agreed, the song sounds even better live, if thats possible, and they rocked it!

  • Why do people think Dawn is so Damn

Great don't forget her solo shit was not

    a hit...........

  • they all are great singers alone. lucy pearl was hot. just people like en vogue as the original en vogue. sometimes going solo isnt great if you were hot in a group. Coko is swvs lead singer her solo career wasnt great either

  • @LCVU WAIT DAT'S MY BABY...SHE'S GREAT AND AWESOME ON DA VOCALS

  • Whatever would've been a BIGGER BETTER HIT if Dawn was still with the group.. She brought the sexy and seductive vibe to this track if you listen to the Remix where they left her vocals on.. I wish they'd perform this song on their RECENT shows with Dawn and give her back the 2nd Bridge part after Max she sounds so sexy on that part..

  • They were SERIOUS|!!!

  • They could've done this song accapella and did an awesome job. It's rare to hear a group sing and actually sing the same exact way they sound on radio. There's no lip syncing or horrible sounds except the music. They would've blown it apart accapella.

  • Dawn San Her Part You Go Dawn!!!

  • i luv the way the drums sound!!!

  • I know. The drum is hot!

  • Thank you for introducing me to En Vogue. I've heard of them, but didn't know them from Adam. Didn't even know it was a black female group. Yeah, I know -- I need a life.

  • They're awesome. Absolutely awesome.

  • You could have known. White girls can't sing like that. LOL

  • why did she leave the group?

  • dawn actually had recorded the song but left the group.. most of the ev3 album was already done

  • Cindy sounds fantastic (even with that messed up line at the beginning)

  • Yeah she does. Cindy is always very consistent with her sound.

  • Dawn wasn't in the group when they recorded this song it was just Terry, Cindy, and Max.

  • No she was she left before their EV3 album was releseased so they had to go back in ther studio and re-recrd some of Dawn's lead but her background vocals still remian and some of her leads do to

  • Terry said in an interview that Dawn recorded all but one song from the album and she left.

  • That last "Whatever" that dawn is singing, is also on the album. On all other live performances it is sang by Terri.

  • actually she was they re=recorded after she left, Cindy's 2nd part was actually Dawn's first

  • DAWN needs to sing her original verse !!!

  • Cindy screwed up her line at the beginning, anyone catch that?

  • Yea, she said "In giving you my love, I'm giving you my trust. ". It's supposed to be the other way around. Lol

  • i caught it, but it sounds alright either way.

  • man i love the moves they do to this song its so cool

  • LUUUVVV DA ORIGINAL ENVOGUE....dey had da same exact outfit on when dey perform wit salt-n-pepa 4 da hiphop honors...but its still koo

  • im sorry but i just think rhona never fit in the group give me a thumbs down i dont care

  • i agree with you. i didnt like the change up. i was jumping up and down when i heard dawn finally went back home...

  • There's nothing bvetter thna orignal 4 who is standing right here in this clip, Soemtimes you people say some of the dumbest things have more respect

  • the old?

  • That is the old en vogue...nothing beats the original

  • I think they need to add Dawn back to, just like New Edition. They brought back Bobby Brown.

  • There is also another track called its about love which was suppose 2be on EV3 dawn voice is on it all four sing on it.Go and check it

  • I have tracks from the EV3 album with dawn's vocals before she left and she sang most on that album

  • You should upload it. I would love to hear it.

  • yeah you should definately upload them

  • can you upload it please.

  • I'd love to hear that too:)

  • You can hear Dawn on the Whatever Rockamerica Remix.. God she sounds more sexier doing the "anything you do i crave it baby.." part.

  • And the girls are back ... When does the new cd come out can't wait ENVOGUE IS BACK

  • this song works so well live!

  • Love the performance and nothing against Cindy but Dawn should have sung her original part in this song

  • This song was originally sung by Cindy, Terry, and Maxine. Dawn had left when the song had come out.

  • I know it was sung by Cindy, Terry and Max but Dawn had a part in the song other then the ending and chorus. She had the "anything you do I crave it baby..." part, the part Cindy sung a second time. Dawn left the group after EV3 was completed and set to be released but once she left, the songs that had her on lead were re-recorded in order to confirm she left EV with the exception of Don't Let Go (Love)

  • Ah... didn't know that.

  • i love me some rhona but i must admit how good it is to see the 4 original divas

  • omg the original 4 of them makes perfection

  • Dawn, Maxine, Terry & Cindy are reuniting, as of April 2008. No lie.

  • Envogue was amazing because really all their voice were interchangeable

  • The originals were the fire back in the day, but as a whole have lost their original intensity and "magic" together, mostly because of one individual's lack of effort and non-professionalism. However, the new/current line-up (which I call the Fantastic Funky Four) are truly phenomenal women and have the drive, determination and fire to keep it going for the rest of their careers. Keep on, keepin' on, ladies!

  • You would be right I was thinking the samething I DON'T miss Dawn.I love Rhona

she's the right mix with Cindy,Max and Terry.

  • En Vogue is not En Vogue without the originals. They're on a much higher level with it's the four originals. Rhona's nice but she is not the right mix with EV3.

  • disagree; at this point, Dawn is not interested in En Vogue for the long haul. Everyone has their favs, but I think we have to be willing to move forward or stay stuck. In the words of e.badu, "I stay woke". Reality is reality, and reality at least right now is Rhona, Terry, Cindy, & Maxine.

  • ok is it me or was dawn half assing it...i mean she totally looked like she didn't wanna be there...u could see the end coming...

  • its just u

  • Dawn was singing on Damm the orignal verson. But they re reored it when she left. And guess what i have heard that verson. good singing.

  • WOW this was awesome!!!!!!...this has to be my favorite EV song and to have Dawn sing it even towards the end made my day!!!!

  • One of THE BEST harmonious girl groups...EnVogue sets the bar pretty HIGH!

  • I have the oringnal verson of whatever. And dawn does sing on it.But they re recored of it when she left, i belive terry done her part

  • Hey there, you said you have the original version, any chance you know where I could get it, or you looking to sell a copy?????

    thanks

  • I wonder how Dawn felt about doing this song with them.

  • Was Dawn doing the vocals for Damn i wanna be your lover, on the album ev3?.. it did sound like her.

  • it was terry doing the vocals i believe

  • Yes i believe you are right, i was listening to it again, Dawn did the Background Vocals.

  • Nope, that's Terry's song all day....

  • Terry Ellis sang Damn, I Wanna Be Your Lover on EV3. Dawn may have been in the background, but the album version is Terry Ellis singing.

  • This was amazing. Dawn's vocals were on a few songs on the EV3 album. She was on Let It Flow, Sittin By Heaven's Door and Let It Flow, most were adlibs. They are all amazing Vocalist. I wish they would have stayed 2gether. Rhonda is a good replacement tho.

  • Yeah they forgot to edit out her adlibs, but Too Long Too Gone was another.. During Maxine's part you can CLEARLY hear her in the backround and when they say "EVER"..

  • I miss Dawn.. =/

  • love this

  • go dawn...

  • Ohhh I love it, such ashame that Dawn didnt do her original part instead of Cindy BUT all in all it was brilliant

  • Dawn sang Cindy's verses before she left in 1997 and the track had to be rerecorded. They rocked without Dawn nontheless.

  • Wow! I have been fortunate enough to see the ladies live twice and I'm always amazed at how fantastic they sound live! Heck, Cindy sounds even better live. As for Dawn's ending... with you on that fruitylicious. Never thought I'd see it. I'm wondering mowhit1. It sounds exactly like the album. I always thought it was Terry, but now I'm scratching my head wondering. Either it's Dawn on the album or Terry does a heck of a job reproducing the sound. Another great performance!

  • It's Terry on the album and Dawn in this live performance.

  • wrong

  • @ziaad99 Wrong, it's Dawn on the album...all but two of the songs on EV3 still had all of Dawn's vocals. The two songs from EV3 without Dawn are "Eyes of a Child" and "Does Anybody Hear Me". The producers wanted to edit her out after Ms Thang up and left, but it is 100% Dawn on this track on the album. Terry just lip-synchs it in the music video since she has the closest vocal range to Dawn

  • @RyanS32 Dawn's lead vocals were re-recorded for the tracks that were released as singles but her background vocals remain. In the case of Whatever, Cindy takes the fourth verse, and Terry completes the whatever's at the end. Dawn's vocals on the chorus remain. If you listen to the Mousset Remix - you'll hear Dawn's original whatevers. If you lisen to the Mucho Soul Remix - you'll hear Dawn's original 4th verse. They are, indeed, clearly different despite the close vocal range of Terry and Dawn

  • @ubett86 they can imitate each others voices easily...hell cindy did one of max's songs here ... was damn good

  • Was Dawn's vocals on this song on the CD?

  • Not really, I guess.

  • HOT!!

  • Dawn fucked up by leaving... they would have KICKED ASS!

  • WOW! Thanks so much for posting this! Never thought I'd get to see the original four performing this song!

Was this done around the same time as their VH1 Hip Hop Honours performance with Salt & Pepa then? They seem to be wearing the same outfits! lol x

  • i was thinking the same thing about the outfits lol but they performed after the hip hop honors.
