  • Yes that would be great ..................... can somebody tell me what group this is? The music? Suddenly I am in the mood for a martini.

  • Hey, the repetition really helps, instructionally--thanks for posting.

  • Where's the conica minolta biz hub when you need it?????

  • Workout with arms and lower body by his instruction gave me 50 meters to my drive!!! Unbelievable man! Mr. Hogan, thank you.

  • I purchased a used set of clubs that had hogan 1and 3 woods, I valued them and had them redone and boy do they look pretty and I hate to use em now.

ben hogan all time greatest golfer

  • Thank you for posting this. Ben Hogan's swing is used by Master pro's today for instruction.

  • awesome swing of the legend.... even tiger copies it but looks ridiculous, hitting straight blocks.

  • Hmm no backward movement. It's like the stack and tilt swing thats been on tv lately.

  • i based my game on 5 lessons, and never saw a video of hogan till now. the cool thing is that my swing looks kind of like that!

  • just awesome was hogans swing check my lessons out you get your swing working like his and thanks ben hitmanhawky best lessons and swing on the tube ,,, well sorry ben

  • if the v wedges were made mandatory 10 years ago it's possible tiger would only have half as many major titles.

  • @ cpond- Agreed. Tiger is not a great ball striker. He is a great putter. He gets in trouble a lot. Sprays shots. Good short game. Tough under pressure. However, never had to worry about putting food on his table. He has been on easy street from day 1.

The guy is lame. A phony, a dishonest man--a real creep.

  • Good short game...? good? try magical...great putter?....Da greatest of all time, tough under pressure?....no-one has ever or will ever do wat he has done under such pressure, hogan was an average putter tiger is a v good ballstriker, but professional golf is alllllllllll short game, dont judge his game on how you feel about him personally, no matter what he does hes da greastest no question

  • Never say Never..

And all this stuff is strictly your opinion.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

Still the guy is a creep and he will get heckled if he ever shows his face on a course again. He's gonna have to live with the hecklers

  • @acershund

Yeah, you've seen differently, haven't you? Some heckling; mostly warm welcomes. Fawning by the announcers at the Masters, who were just soooo concerned with whether the crowd would "react well" to him. I mean, why should anybody care that he humiliated his wife and children? That the Tour now wants us not to look at his "personal" life, when they couldn't make _enough_ money off his "personal life" when his image was good? ... (ct'd)

  • @acershund

....I mean, people were just fine with Kobe Bryant--either a rapist who got away with it, or an adulterer who bought off his wife--because of "that smile" and because he hits great shots to win games. They want their sports entertainment. All the morality-and-ethics stuff doesn't matter (unless it was _their_ wives or girlfriends getting the @#$ banged out of them).

  • @acershund

....The people who came to golf because of Tiger will cheer him no matter what. It's always somebody else's fault--the "haters," the "Puritans," whatever.

I mean, we've gone from a guy who slung himself across his wife to save her life on a Texas highway, to a self-indulgent child who thinks the world revolves around him and who didn't mind one bit humiliating his wife and children over and over--and never minded cursing in front of millions of kids anyway, miked and on-camera.

  • Strictly your opinion. Just another Tiger Kiss-Ass..

  • @TheBBusher

Can you spell "the"? Just curious.

Hard to argue against the notion that Tiger has the most solid short game out there today. But on what basis do you say nobody has done what he's done under pressure? Under _what_ pressure? From whom? Does he have Snead and Nelson, two of the all-time greats, trying to beat him? Trevino? Watson? Palmer? Is this true just because you say it?

And btw, no less an authority than Sam Snead said Hogan was a _great_ putter in his prime.

  • @emncaity it tiger werent around players like phil and ernie would hav won enough majors to be considered greats, and did they have to play with tv audiences of 10 million no, nicklaus said tiger is the greatest I take his word over some fuck head like you so shut the fuck up, hes the greatest like it or not bitch

  • Yeah any1 who knows anything about golf knows tiger has the greatest short gam e of all time, and hecklers ha he has 20000 plus people followin him every tournament, he always plays within himself, it will probably just motivate him even more if anything

  • @TheBBusher

Woods indeed has a great short game--one of the most solid of all time--but when you say stuff like "any1 who knows anything about golf" agrees with your assessment, it's a dead giveaway to exactly what acershund says: another Tiger kiss-ass. Better than Nicklaus? Trevino? Snead? Nelson? Watson? On what basis do you make this claim, and how do you support it? Just because you say so? Just because it feels like it, and you have the whole imaginary golf world behind you?

  • I hope you don't call yourself a golf fan because tiger is a a very good ball striker is he wasn't he wouldn't be in the top 10 in greens hit every year. Which is great because of where he drives the ball. Also he has played the V grooves in his clubs since he has been on tour so that wouldn't make a difference.

  • @acershund

Too right on every point--except I'd say he's a great ballstriker at times. But it really is his short game that makes him a winner--that, and the fact that people throw up all over themselves for him. (Check how many times he's won when the only guy close to him in the final round manages to shoot 75, or makes bogey to his par in a playoff.) Would've loved to have seen him with 1Bs like Snead, Nelson, Mangrum, and Demaret (Hogan's day) or Trevino, Watson, et al. (Nicklaus).

  • @acershund

I keep making this point, and some people who knew Waston's game agree: Woods is much more like a young Watson than he is like any other great player. Toski's assessment of Watson was dead right: Long but all over the place with the driver, but the closer he got to the green the better he was, and when he won, it was a combination of great short game and occasional spectacular shot, or stretches of a few spectacular shots, in between some astonishing scrambling. Sound familiar?

  • @emncaity

    Dammit, I hate misspelling....WATSON....chrissakes.

  • @emncaity

  • Take a good look at that lame Tiger.. He has a Reverse "C".. heading down the wrong path.... again.

  • @acershund Tiger does not swing the club as well as Mr. Hogan; Tigers fake follow thru is similar to Mr. Hogan's>but it is only for effect. Tiger does not move into the ball anywhere the way Mr. Hogan did. Tiger does not know the secret>the only secret he knows is out of the bag...

  • @cpond007

Are you talking about that high-right-shoulder follow-through? If so, I can't agree more...a really weird move with no particular purpose anybody's been able to discern. I like a lot of what he tries to work on (though detesting him as a person), but I really cannot understand what that move is supposed to do. It does seem tacked-on, as you say.

  • tigers dad did read his book

  • his follow thru looks like tigers

  • I would definitely say that Tiger's follow through looks like Hogan's.

  • hes been copying moe norman and hogans swing as of late

  • Groooovy, baby. That cool cat can really pop the grape out there.

  • I dig this idea...

  • who sings this song it is awesome.please help

  • Does anyone know what the name of the group/artist/album is from which the music comes? It is hypnotic and fuilled with nostalgia...

  • search for "迷迭香 jay" on youtube

  • did you find out the music origin?

  • @Yumo999 the artist is mi die xiang

  • @Yumo999 the artist is jay chou

  • i read some of this stuff and I kinda laugh. over emphasizing the importance of one small aspect of the golf swing is like ripping apart a motor that doesn't run because you suspect a connecting rod is broken. It might be broken, but in all likelihood the alternator is dead. lol. It's just that people don't really see the whole picture- they think they are experts on a subject that maybe a few dozen people in the world understand. You have to understand the whole before you get to the parts.

  • I agree with you to the extent that it's easy to miss the big picture by dwelling on the details.

But that does not tell us how we can see the whole picture, especially if the mechanics of a golf swing is in fact understood by only a few dozen people.

Since most of us are not fortunate enough to afford Butch, Haney, or Leadbetter, should we just stop asking questions? I submit that it's better to ask "stupid" questions than not asking at all.

  • @wang1433 you can ask stupid questions all day long, yes. doesn't hurt my feelings in the least.

  • @tenillechristine

Somebody should put that in a book. I'm on a project right now. How about I steal it? ;-)

  • What kind of book is this? If you drop a pearl amongst a bunch of shit, it'll look suspicious. lol jk.

  • Does the one plane swing still produce a nice high ball flight when done right? on vids of hogan's swing you never get to see the bal after its hit! I seem to find I hit it really low and mostly left with the shallower plane and always get better results from more upright. But I'm thinking I'm obviously just doing it wrong cos so many people love it. Can anyone suggest some players on the tour today using on plane?

  • I don't think one plane vs two plane has to do with height of ball flight. If you can struck the ball solidly in the sweet spot you will generate a lot of backspin which is what really gets the ball in the air. So it's the quality of impact that matters, not the flight.

  • Correction: it's the quality of the impact that matters, not the plane.

  • A one plane swing is a swing that follows the same plane on the backswing as on the follow through. Because of that you can have a more upright plane or a flatter plane depending on your build and still consider it a one plane swing. The height of ball flight depends on your angle of attack at the ball. The steeper the swing the higher the flight and visa versa. If you like the one plane swing look at Anthony Kim.I would say find a consistent flight and go with it. High or low.

  • drummerkingmike; You might try moving the ball up in your stance a tad and see if that helps. Also make sure your not hooding the club face at address. But there can be other things causing the problem. Be careful with swinging too upright.Make sure your not too close or most likely to far from the ball at address. Alot of problems are caused before you even start swinging. Lastly, try a slightly shorter backswing--reason overswinging at the top causes control problems.

  • The swing plane, the club staying on it, is a result of order. That is all. The keyword being RESULT. The swing itself is also a result of individual parts, both physical and mental. The motor always begins with some individual motion, some starter, some way of beginning the swing. Once started, the motion is a matter of the days feel, warm up, conditions, mood, course, and any number of other things that can have an effect on the swinging process.

  • Hitting fades 0:00-0:35 into wind?

  • looks like he is hitting low draws through the wind to me. just a guess :D

  • I thought the same. Is his right heel rising off the ground or is it just my imag? I bought his book 30 years ago. It is still the best. (took me 13 years and millions of range shots to shoot a 71. I havent duplicated that score in 16 years but am still trying ha ha)

  • He slides so he can hit down on the ball. One of the greatest golfers ever.He had the ability to hit a draw or fade as he pleased. It was only his grip he changed.I think a big consistency factor for ben was that he never let his right elbow ever leave his side.If you get too flimsy with the arms thats where all the errors begin in my mind.

  • such a good swing, many pros do that same slide move but to avoid the occasional mishit they usually gain their separation through rotation instead of lateral movement. correct me if im wrong.

  • there isn't a significant amount of lateral movement in his swing. What separation do you speak of. Saying there is movement in his swing is like saying a crankshaft doesn't move in a circle. If you watch the connecting rods circulate around the base of the pistons you might be lead to believe that there is some lateral motion making the pistons move on a different plane than the connecting rods, but clearly that isnt the case! See what I'm getting at... Remember that form follows function...

  • The swings at the start of this vid are his old swing where he suffered from the hooks and smothers. You can tell how much he's trying to keep the blade from turning over by how hard he's turning and holding of the face. The latter swings are the perfected technique with the grip change. Hit any shot you like with this swing. It's perfect.

  • I'm afraid I have to agree with you Xelurst.

  • This is Hogans draw swing. if done wrong, you will start to hit pull duck hooks. gotta watch that you not lift your right heel too early in your impact and follow thru or else your face will close on the ball and make it go left, left, left. it will kill you for many years if you miss that.

  • Hi gichmaster, thanks for posting your comments here. Why do you think it's a draw swing?

  • oh, there are many swings in the video, which one are you referring to?

  • If you can look closely, you will see how his right foot is back in his stance in relation to his left. in other words, he is set up closed to the target which he teaches in his book on how to hit a draw. also, he slides a lot to keep his face square to the target through impact before it closes to create a draw spin on the ball. otherwise, he would just duck hook it.

  • @gichmaster wrong. he details the reasons for a slightly closed stance in his book Modern Fundamentals. has nothing to do with a draw swing. Tiger sometimes hits cuts from a closed stance. It's for differents reasons that you've listed. WRONG.

  • @gichmaster bullshit anal ysis... stick that in your own ass... and go on playing your bitch slice.

  • What is the song in this video? It's rather catchy...

  • 迷迭香 (Rosemary).

  • How can I find this song? An artist and album name would be helpful. Thank you.
