Best bond film. Best song too. Saw it in the cinema when I was about 8 (1987 maybe) Thought the girl rising out of the champagne glass was absolutely fit even at that young age.
My favorite Bonds are George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton, the shorter the better, I have vowed never to watch another Roger Moore film ever again, he gives you a headache after Moonraker, outstays his welcome by a mile, but still Voodoo, Atlantis, Outer Space, he did some cool shit.
@Seargent363 I just think after just seeing OHMSS for a 4th time recently he tried his best to be just like Connery he really couldnt sell me as 007. You see I just cant pick 1 Bond film as the best. Everyone except Lazenby has done 2 films that 2me are the best. For Connery its Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice, Moore its The Spy Who Loved Me and A View to A Kill, I like both with Timothy Dalton, Brosnan its Goldeneye and Tommarow Never Dies and I love both with Craig.
Depends on how you take Bond , for me its PB (like the guy says jack of all trades) then Dalton, then Con , then Craig, Moore is at the bottom because he made Bond into an asshat Carry On movie!
@charlieiscool1000 if he was such a great Bond why did they go back to Sean Connery instead of pursuing him for Diamond are Forever? George Lazenby couldnt convice as being a good James Bond. OHSS sucked. You wanna talk about a Bond film with emotion, great action and chase scenes and having the best theme watch Casino Royale beucz Daniel Craig plays the real James Bond from the 1950s novels the way was suppose to be.
@PUNISHERWarzone87 Many theories exist why lazenby never came back, his agent told him that bond was going no where and he should look else where, the low box office from the movie(which could be accounted for mad advertising). Albert Broccoli even told Lazenby he could have been the best. I agree that Craig(followed closely by Dalton) is the best bond so far, but something about Lazenby makes me like him and I enjoyed OHMSS as much as FRWL(best bond film imo)
@WillamRLBaker Roger Moore was not the worst Bond. George Lazenby was. Im glad he only did one Bond film. On Her Majesty's Secret Service sucked. He looked like a jackass. Moore was a lighthearted Bond but hes was great as Bond and at the time was the only actual Brit to play Bond until Daniel Craig became Bond.
LOLL WTF are you kidding me George lazenby was a great bond he was judged too fast and unfairly due to the fact Sean connery had been the first bond and everyone regarded him as the real james Bond Roger moore was good but he was too much of the light hearted joker Bond and wasn’t very serious at all OHMSS had the best bond theme out of all the films and had some of the best action and chase scenes it was a proper bond film that was more real and full of emotion unlike most others.
All credit due to Timothy Dalton, his performance has stood the test of time given the script he had to work with... had he George Lazenby's material, who knows what any of the modern Bonds could have done with that core story...
Since Dalton was the first Bond i saw as a kid, I gotta label him as my favourite, followed closely by both Connery and Brosnan, although I find that each actor played Bond extremely well in their own way.
I just can't get behind Craig as Bond, I just can't picture it...it's just too different...not to knock him or anything, he still did a good job, imo, I just have trouble picturing it...
If anyone of you people were to read the James Bond books by Mr. Flemming you would see that Danial Craig very closely resembles the characture in the novels.....I am not saying that Danial is the best actor , I actually like old ass Sean better. Why did Roger Moore perform in so many Bond films? Should've Timothy Dalton start his Bond career a bit earlier? Probably yes. This is the Bond theme n:o 1!
Everyone has their favourites. For me Dalton and Craig are better than the rest by an order of magnitude. Dalton was more hard edged and closer to the original character that Ian Fleming created. Daniel Craig sometimes comes across as marginally psychotic as Bond which is perhaps what I'd expect of someone like that. It was Craig's turn in Layer Cake that sealed the deal for the bond films and it's not hard to see why.
I still don't get how everybody wants to compare all of the james bond actors I personally enjoy each and every single one of them in fact I enjoy anything that has to do with james bond!
I think most people that were around in the 60's would have to favor Connery as THE Bond and make him their no.1 choice among Bond actors. It would make sense that younger people might favor the other Bond actors as their no.1 choices.
Dalton was my personal favorite Bond. I remember watching him as a kid. He was so cold, slick, and bitter; everything I wanted to become as an adult...no, that didn't happen. : (

The Bond movies were best in my opinion before Golden Eye. Better plot lines, better directing, less gimmick factor and marketed towards viewers who better understood what the Bond franchise was all about, instead of trying to go for the "Let's wow the teenagers with explosions!" thing.
@cornjake88 i think the goonies did something like that too, on the VHS it said PG-13 but i saw in a magezine R, i could be wrong this was a long time ago i remember

@johnjnukemsheridan I agree Dalton had the human factor and showed that bond was not the lover he was shown to be. he also had a vengeful soul when it came to the death of Felix in licence to kill.

@Point50Cal You forgot somebody. You know, thick accent, pretended to be an Egyptian pretending to be Spanish while sounding more Scottish than a French Scotsman? XD
I must say I quite enjoyed Dalton as Bond in this movie, which was great altogether. Don't know why but I really disliked him in Licence to Kill. This is a GREAT tune, mind!
My top 3 Bond actors are: Timothy Dalton,Daniel Graig, and Goerge Lazenby
because they play the role of Bond realistic. I don't understand why people don't like these Bond actors because they make the character more realistic and do better than Brosnan, Moore. I like the realistic Bond not the comedic and light hearted type.
I like the rhythm beat with score by John Barry and A-ha sets the tone up nicely on the opening titles thou this mix is different from the theatrical opening titles.
dalton was bollax! roger moore was like in his 60's for god sake when making occtopussy and a veiw to a kill, better looking and knew how to act! still this is a good tune.
I agree Timothy Dalton was a great James Bond, in many ways superior to Moore and Connery. The Living Daylights was one of the best Bond movies as well.
@andyw19781 The studios were basically going through the same situation that they're going through right now. Dalton just grew impatient and dropped out. I wish he was in more. I would have loved to have seen him in Goldeneye. It would have made M's line about Bond being a relic of the cold war more meaningful. Nevertheless, Brosnan was just as good. Luckily (at least for me because I'm a Craig fan) Craig's willing to wait for the dispute to settle. He wants to do a proper Bond film
@andyw19781 Its because he was pissed at the weak story behind License to Kill. I am pretty sure that was likely the first Bond film they made after they ran out of Ian Fleming novels to turn into a movie.
@wigster600 The 007 films are SUPOSSED to be unrealistic. And the Daniel Craig films are the most realistic of the series. And the Sean Connery films, of course.
the original James Bond,(the 1 brore the new one that plays him now) is amazing hes the best at been OO7, i love a view to a kill by Duran uran too, thats songs epic.
This is one of the best Bond films in my eyes. Dalton should have stayed on longer. Wasn't he supposed to star in a TV show in the mid '90s? I think it was canceled before it ever aired..
Dalton was not the "problem. the Living Daylights was solid. The writing was still 'there.' Licensed to Kill was bad writing — it did not have the right 'fire.' I would take Dalton over the current Daniel Craig. The last two with Criag — who might not be the issue — have been humorless and much to serious. he plays Bond with too much 'negativity.' Perhaps my issue is that I miss Pierce's light touch with the character.
@FilamentDesigns The last two films might be too serious but i think it is a reaction to the times when you have other no nonsense heroes out there like Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer, you can't have James Bond seen to being light hearted. But I do miss the odd one liner or two.
@rich1701 Agree with your overall point. Only problem — Bauer and Bourne are not "real." Sadly, there are those who feel they are, and it should be the way the U.S. goes about its business.Real life is difficult — be it because of wars around the world, a struggling global economy, the threats of terrorism — we could use a little more of a light touch at times. Put it another way — The original Bond faced the USSR, Vietnam, sluggish economies and was still light and fun.
@FilamentDesigns The Bond of Daniel Craig is supposed to be serious, he's the early Bond, before he was elegant and suave. I happen to think Craig does a perfect job of acting Bond.
Many people seem to have problems with a "real" Bond. They like the guy who's in love with every girl and has sex with them, unrealistic villains and gadgets, bad oneliners et.c. but you have to face facts. That's not who Bond really is. He's a ruthless killer, womanizer and he has ALOT of issues.
Definitely a great movie theme.

Connery: Kicked ass in the morning and took names in the evening.
Lazenby: Pissed his pants after one movie! But broke the fourth wall.
Moore: Name's Clown. James Clown. Instead of a Lotus Esprit he should have been given a clown car.
Dalton: Serious. Dead serious to the point of my barfing. But The Living Daylights was actually good!
Brosnan: Did everything, wasn't really memorable for one thing.
Craig: Very physical and did away with the gadgets.

I must say I quite enjoyed Dalton as Bond in this movie, which was great altogether. Don't know why but I really disliked him in Licence to Kill. This is a GREAT tune, mind!
LeDragonLXXVI 1 year ago
My top 3 Bond actors are: Timothy Dalton,Daniel Graig, and Goerge Lazenby
because they play the role of Bond realistic. I don't understand why people don't like these Bond actors because they make the character more realistic and do better than Brosnan, Moore. I like the realistic Bond not the comedic and light hearted type.
TheRAMOS89 1 year ago
@TheRAMOS89 What about Connery? He is realistic and comedic.

Dalton was one of the best Bond's for me. Not as good as Connery obviously but hard to pick between Craig and Dalton for second place.

I like the rhythm beat with score by John Barry and A-ha sets the tone up nicely on the opening titles thou this mix is different from the theatrical opening titles.

I agree Timothy Dalton was a great James Bond, in many ways superior to Moore and Connery. The Living Daylights was one of the best Bond movies as well.

the thing i never understood is why he only did 2 bond films.

@andyw19781 such a shame he didn't do more.
pilninggas 1 year ago 4
@andyw19781 The studios were basically going through the same situation that they're going through right now. Dalton just grew impatient and dropped out. I wish he was in more. I would have loved to have seen him in Goldeneye. It would have made M's line about Bond being a relic of the cold war more meaningful. Nevertheless, Brosnan was just as good. Luckily (at least for me because I'm a Craig fan) Craig's willing to wait for the dispute to settle. He wants to do a proper Bond film
level22productions 1 year ago
@andyw19781 Its because he was pissed at the weak story behind License to Kill. I am pretty sure that was likely the first Bond film they made after they ran out of Ian Fleming novels to turn into a movie.

daniel craig bond films are too unrealistic. i mean jumping form cranes to other cranes?
wigster600 1 year ago
@wigster600 And invisible cars, laserbeam-watches et.c. is more realistic than doing something that's actually quite possible, but very very risky?
Dude, I really hope you're kidding.
Pinkaugust 1 year ago
bond movies are not realistic, they are not supposed to be.
actually craig and dalton are the most realistic bonds so far, and dalton is by far THE best bond
realtoyz13 1 year ago 4
@wigster600 The 007 films are SUPOSSED to be unrealistic. And the Daniel Craig films are the most realistic of the series. And the Sean Connery films, of course.

This is one of the best Bond films in my eyes. Dalton should have stayed on longer. Wasn't he supposed to star in a TV show in the mid '90s? I think it was canceled before it ever aired..
Monacomaverick 1 year ago
Dalton was not the "problem. the Living Daylights was solid. The writing was still 'there.' Licensed to Kill was bad writing — it did not have the right 'fire.' I would take Dalton over the current Daniel Craig. The last two with Criag — who might not be the issue — have been humorless and much to serious. he plays Bond with too much 'negativity.' Perhaps my issue is that I miss Pierce's light touch with the character.
FilamentDesigns 1 year ago
@FilamentDesigns The last two films might be too serious but i think it is a reaction to the times when you have other no nonsense heroes out there like Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer, you can't have James Bond seen to being light hearted. But I do miss the odd one liner or two.
rich1701 1 year ago
@rich1701 Agree with your overall point. Only problem — Bauer and Bourne are not "real." Sadly, there are those who feel they are, and it should be the way the U.S. goes about its business.Real life is difficult — be it because of wars around the world, a struggling global economy, the threats of terrorism — we could use a little more of a light touch at times. Put it another way — The original Bond faced the USSR, Vietnam, sluggish economies and was still light and fun.
FilamentDesigns 1 year ago
@FilamentDesigns The Bond of Daniel Craig is supposed to be serious, he's the early Bond, before he was elegant and suave. I happen to think Craig does a perfect job of acting Bond.
Many people seem to have problems with a "real" Bond. They like the guy who's in love with every girl and has sex with them, unrealistic villains and gadgets, bad oneliners et.c. but you have to face facts. That's not who Bond really is. He's a ruthless killer, womanizer and he has ALOT of issues.
