I'm sure this has been already said, this is ripped right out of Ghost in the Shell's ending.

Kusanagi battles a spider-tank, has her arms ripped off, then is connected to the Puppet Master AI, who then traps her, telling her its the next step of human evolution to merge, comparing it to sexual reproduction.

she agrees to merge her consciousness with it, then she receives a new, younger shell.

she then speaks in third person, and disappears into cyberspace, claiming she is now above human.

After augmentation technology reaches 100% capability, the next logical step would be to merge your entire body - all the way to your mind - into an entire computer or android.

Could this be analagous to the Holy Trinity from Christianity? I know many people think that J.C. stands for "Jesus Christ" (making J.C. denton the "son" in the trinity) but at the same time Icarus is the son of Daedalus (which are the machines of Helios). My theory:

Daedalus - Father

Icarus - Son

J.C. Denton - Holy Spirit

I loved this ending. It's the path that humanity was set on by the point of Deus Ex's beginning, any of the other endings would have been a step backwards. I actually see it as the most hopeful.

In my opinion, this ending is the correct one. If not, Tracer certainly is. Though his plan will be a little out of hand...But Everett's plan is just madness! He just wants power. Pretending to be the leader of the Illuminati is bad enough.

8 years ago i saw a copy of deus ex original in a shelf in a gamestore i wanted to buy because the name and cover looked interesting the game was interesting but i didn't buy it.

Ok, so if Dadaelus and Icarus represent truth and knowledge, what does that make Helios? All knowing? I love the atmosphere of this ending.

I agree that this is the best ending for the game, but I don't think that it was a mistake to merge them for #2. The reason why is because just try to imagine writing the plot for that game if this was the ending of #1, what would you do if JC/Helios was successfully running everything? Defeat him? Would you? Could you? The beginning of #2 left a power vacuum to struggle for, and it was, hence why you could join so many factions.

His vitals are all tied to Helios at this point, so obviously he dies when Helios abandons him for JC. It's not like Page can regret his actions and return to a normal life as a farmer :)

well in the second deus e, deus ex invisible war, it shows us that JC merges with helios, and blows up the facility, thus killing page- so doesnt matter whether he survives or not when jc merges with helios
