  • Wow. You've got a LOT of Kirbys. (Mine is from 1950, and still works. My parents bought it when I was very young and used it forever.)

  • I love these vacuums. I have some SC886's they are tough as nails and really clean carpet.

  • In the description, hoover1060 said, "The Sc888 is still a part of Sanitaire's line, now designated SC888G"

Now, it's SC888K, they removed the headlight, same with model SC899F :(

  • Now I want a SC888 even more...

  • @whoisthisguy724 they last forever!!

  • Hey there i was just wondering where i would be able to find a brush roll like that on the net. I can't seem to find anything like that. If you could let me know that would be great.

  • Hi I just noticed I dont think the motor hood is oiginal because it says wide track. The sc899 was the wide track and was 16 inches wide

  • @willsmash7 The sticker is not original, I replaced it at some point because the original was scratched. I like the look with the wider sticker.

  • I love your Sanitaire sc888. I have 3 sc886s they are pretty much the same only no head light and they have the tump out bag. I got my first one from a Days Inn that I used to work at it was made in 1987. My next one I got off Ebay not sure how old it is im guessing its only like 10 because It has the beige handle cap not the red one but it has the quick kleen sticker. And my newest one I got for xmas its the newest one with the gray cord and handle cap.

  • Thanks for the nice words. I can't believe I have had this one as long as I have! I bought it in 1986!

  • no need, let the content speak for itself.

  • @hoover1060

    I agree

  • I saw a Kenmore Whispertone I also need a video of it.

  • Why Do People Put Tape On These Kinds Of Vacuums

  • I have one like that and i was about to just toss it out cuz the bag was ripped. But then i found out they where expensive x]

so i'm just gonna keep it and buy a new bag

  • 1986, really?

  • That's an awesome vacuum, I'm actually looking at getting an SC888 model and the fact that yours is 22 years old and looks and works like brand new is making my decision to get that feel even better! The sound is very unique too, it's a sound I will never forget and will always associate it with staying in a Hotel.

  • Not sure of the exact count, a reasonable guess would be 200+

  • probably not, I have not seen too many of them either. I also have a 4-row VG-1 thats ok, but the brushes are firmer on the VG-2 and it digs into the carpet better.

  • its a 4-row VGII, got it from a friend who runs a vac shop.

    It works very well!!!

  • I like Sanitaires because they hold up the longest of all commercial vacuums.

  • They sure do!! This one is now 22 years old, and still running fine!

  • i just got one and it does not run and the fan is cracked. I'm fixing to get a new one. What is your advice?

  • you can fix them rather inexpensively... all the parts you need are available on ebay pretty cheap.

  • actually i just threw it out. even though i took out the fan and it spun freely, it STILL would not turn on.

  • I still would have kept it. Being that it did not run could have been something as simple as a cord!

  • well its beyond repair. the fan melted and had cracked. That probably overheated the motor and gave out.

  • well, I am sure you will find another, there are tons of them out there to be had!

  • Well I decided to put it on Craigslist for free.

  • Gotta love the aftermarket brushroll!!! I put those in any of my sanitaire repairs that I had!

  • Doesn't even look like its been used. I am currently looking for a new vacuum cleaner and you should see my dirt devil featherlite upright it is being held together by duct tape and a bungee cord because the front panel blew off and the clips broke off. Are the commercial style vacuum cleaners good for home vacuuming use? I am thinking on getting me a commercial sanitaire or a commercial hoover guardsman which looks similar to the convertible. Do you know of any vacuum websites that I can find

  • 22 years old and it still runs like a champ. Eureka knows how to make their vacuuns.

  • yes, a very well made machine that I put ALOT of miles on! I agree these were(are)quality machines at an affordable price even today!

  • Jeff how many sanitares do you have

  • Just 2 now, this one and the S634 shown on another video. I had two others that were sold earlier this year. I'd never consider parting with this one!!

  • if i had a vacuum that long i also would consider it an old good friend

  • Very nice! I need to get a Sanitaire

  • Jeff, I was four months old when you bought this vacuum!

It sounds perfect, I love the motor noise.

  • Jack, I was the age back then that you are now!!!
