Everywhere we go we wish everyone a "Merry Christmas"... We have gotten bright smiles and a "Merry Christmas" in return!

Newsflash: Christmas isn't the only holiday celebrated in the holiday season.

Thanksgiving, Hanukka, Kwanzaa, Yule, the Winter Solstice, sometimes Ramadan, and don't forget New Year's eve!

By saying only Merry Christmas, it leaves the others out, and caters to only those who celebrate Christmas. By saying Happy Holidays, the retailers are addressing everyone, and no one feels left out.

@smithy4067 Christmas is just a name. The holiday is NOT christian. It's pre-christian. The traditions we observe are nearly 2000 years old and Norse and Celtic in origin (they didn't convert till around 900AD or so).

The name was changed, it was shortened to just 1 day, and a few things (like animal sacrifice) were done away with, but beyond that, it's the same holiday as always, just with a manger story tacked on top.

Yes, but Christmas is the main holiday. Most stores don't close on the others.

GREAT video! The American Family Foundation has a list of CHRISTmas friendly stores vs. Scrooge stores. I'll be shopping at places which are not afraid to wish me a Merry CHRISTmas.

I almost bought some towels this year from Kohl's but when I saw the words Happy Holidays on them instead of Christmas I changed my mind. They had Christmas tress & candy canes on them! The Merry Tossmas video has changed my attitude. I refuse to buy now if they refuse to say it. And all those catalogs are trash. Merry Christmas!
