Its quite ridicolous toi say that larry is not a godd drummer becaus he looks in pain while he is playing. I'm a drummer and i recognize that Larry maybe is not a virtuoso but is excellent because his drum parts are always so musical. And in the years he become better and better. In fact i don't like his style of playing during the fist three albums, but after Larry improve more an more touching a climax during the Pop Era. Very underrated.
That's what makes mid to late 80s Bono so awesome: his voice was and still is the definition of opreatic passion, espeaclly in the late 80s. 90s Bono was cool but that's when his voice went missing until ATYCLB.
larry says he looks like he is in pain when he is druming cuz he finds it hard and he is not an amazing drumer. obviously he is modest but...i mean i heard that he got help with sunday bloody sunday. and in the book u2 by u2 there was a story of how larry kept getting the wrong beat for a song and bono chased him off stage. and larry said that his druming on new years day sucks in u2 by u2.
@lennwod Actually his voice had deepened a lot and his high end suffered as a result. He can actually sing higher notes now and not destroy his voice in the process.
Sorry my bad. But I think KROQ, the original alternative radio station in LA, was playing this song in the fall of 82. Maybe U2 had a early release of this song.
The song was definitely released as an early European single by December 82 a few months before the album came out. Of course upon release it immediately went to number 1 in the UK, a first for U2.

oh their should be a proper version of this. why didn't they play it more. and they could have practised it for this gig cuz bono messed up the start. i mean his voice is at its best here. shame.
The instrument that bono plays at the end and gives back to the audience is a kazoo. He plays the French national anthem. Great video!!
