I like the way Roger sings the chorus. He hits the high notes correctly and his phrasing is interesting, very different to Gilmour's. Just once, it would be lovely to hear Waters sing both parts of this song, verse and chorus, all the way through.

how on earth does david gilmour consistently just blast out new and random solos spontaneously like that?! even during his singing part hes just playing along with such ease.

As it was only a rehearsal, it seems they forgot to hook up Dave's microphone. And as such, he just decides, "Well, at least the guitar is hooked up, so I'll just play the vocal on that!"

And @benjamin308 and @jakesteven1980, I think Roger was doing his background vocal part when he started singing.
