Christians are to have a godly fear as in awe ,reverence,honor and deep despect,which is a part of their christian faith.We are not afraid of God in a sese or terror,but we do fear Him as in deep reverence that draws us to God.The wicked do not fear God but when aware of His wrath they are afraid of God.Two different attitudes altogether.We cant replace the fear of God scriptures with the word belief,they are 2 distinct words.God is my Father but is holy I love Him but also stand in Awe of Him.

There are over 250 scriptures that tell us to fear the Lord. Romans 3:18 speaking of the wicked says, "There is no fear of God before their eyes." It says for the Christians that the church walked in the fear of God. 2 Cor 7:1 says, "We are to perfect holiness in the fear of God."

Abarahs was a saint of God and he feared God. Job was a saint because he feared God. Proverbs 8:13 says "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. A reverent awe of Gods holiness produces in us a holy fear of sinning against Him. In Proverbs chapt 2 vs 5 it says that the fear of God and seek it as a treasure. The promise of the new covenant is to have the fear of God in our hearts. Jer. 32:39 " will give then one heart, that they may fear Me forever, For the good of them and their children."

So i m a littel confused because i think jesus is the son of god and he came down to earth to set us free.
