  • great work

  • im not gonna bore anyone with a ridiculously long comment but... great job and keep it up

  • I like you interpretation of the pieces, very good, I like the Chopin etude, ( is the only one I've studied from the pieces you played). But lets face it, the notes are really important and more in a competition. And there were too many wrong notes in the etude, Im not saying you play bad, I really liked it but you should really pay attention to the notes next time. Great job!

  • @e57uard0 i'd say the rach etude was more wrong notes he slid off a few chopin notes and wasnt clean, hard work though

  • @afertyus1000 Ummmm well.. im not sure because I don't know well the rach etude. I said that of the Chopin etude because I've studied it a lot and a know exactly what notes he missed. Yeah, the solution is hard work!

  • @e57uard0 Ok if you listen to another recording of the rach you will hear, kissin does a perfect rendition of it,it's extremely hard! i play the chopin etude but sometimes my fingers 'run away' with me and i make mistakes

  • I like how you build up the dynamics in the Chopin, very expressive. To bad the judges would not let pass all this inaccuracy. But you deserve a great career. Hope the best to you.

  • I can't see the hands but I presume they are certainly adept to move better with a lower seating position,, hands too high above the keyboard, a very good piainist by the way who i am certain played below at his best but will go a long way,,that C major study is a risk as if your not 'on form' it gets jerly but a very good overall performance and the Rachmaninoff was surperb ,,, well done

  • oh and i should say you did good mate

  • you should only play pieces that are easy for you in competitions.

when you are sitting there they become 10x as hard

  • i hear a lot of mistakes in the chopin etude

  • wow if u didnt get i'm definatly not going to

  • not really particaulary hard pieces but very well played indeed!

  • NOT BAD, bad nothing amazing... There are thousands of pianists who practice every day and reach to play very difficult pieces, like Chopin´s etude... But just a few go far because of their personality when they are playing. You just got to find your style, no music style, because you can´t change that, but a perfoming style... If you waant to win...

  • just my opinion: well it took you a long to fix the chair in beginning and too much energy...

you missed a note in the prelude in the very beginning, 1st or 2nd bar, so it's not so cool to make mistake in the start, but happens a lot, seen it among the greatest, but you're great, keep up the good work!

  • lololol

I hate critics like you. Accuracy is important, but not the most important factor in music.

  • What piece of music he played in minute 5?

  • Hey man, dont listen to all this criticism. You already know what notes you missed-so you dont really need anyone to tell you about that. You play beautifully, keep at it and you will succeed.

  • Best performance of a piano bench I have ever heard!!

  • LOL

  • LOL [2]

  • I think you play very well - Why didn't you make it past the first round? If I were a judge, I'd think that you hit too many wrong notes. I'm curious to know why though?

  • what's the name of the third piece?thx

  • The Bach was nowhere near the difficulty required for such a competition-the whole point of the chopin etude is that it shold be like a light like a breeze, and also a bit faster-the rest was slightly better, though not the standar of the callibre of such a competition

  • Difficulty of a piece in a competition does not matter as much as how well you can interpret that piece.

  • i can't believe you could't make it to the next round

  • starei qui ad ascoltarti tutta la vita questo splendido meraviglioso concertista futuro..

  • You should have picked a different Chopin etude. This is the only one of the set that I think is useful for the performer to learn but the least interesting to listen to.

  • i agree with u:))

  • Lots of the Chopin etudes are useful to learn.. for example, the "thirds" etude comes in very handy. Note that this might be your own opinion; there are people who enjoy listening to this particular Chopin etude. I know I do.

  • you're reeaally good! r u korean?

  • Impressive, Bach is hard to take to competitions because his music can be interpreted so many ways.

  • what are you talking about!? bach has only one interpretation this isn't 19th century nor 18th,

bach sounds remains the same threw out all the piece in almost every piece he made and you don't mess around with his pieces otherwise u lose the entire bach style, i'm sick of idiots like u mr know it all.

  • i totally agree with you. Bach should be interpretated like he imagined his music in his mind.

  • I like how you're being the hypocrite on this page. ;)

  • You are so great.

  • not interesting at all!

  • Rachmaninov's music is my soul. But the way you play - I only hear notes, but where are the rich emotions, deep feelings that Rach has? Honestly, its dreadful to listen to emotionless playing.

  • Rachmaninov's music is so emotionally potent that it requires a good technique but more importantly an expressive soul.

  • @MengLee2008 I disagree that it is emotionless. In fact, perhaps it is poor interpretive analysis. You ever listen to yourself play or worked on such pieces? Sometimes we're unaware of how we truly sound until we record ourselves.

The largest mistake I see and perhaps why he was disqualified were the last two preludes. Especially the last one, it was much too slow and slower than No. 5. Since Op. 23 is a set, he should have considered it all in context together.

  • Interesting to note, I liked the wrong notes. It was brimming with confidence like Horowitz. Chopin Etude No. 1 wasn't bad at all, did you know Richter himself made wrong notes? Even a master like Anton Rubinstein would make wrong notes. I'm not advocating wrong notes, but they sure sounded better with confidence. The parts I didn't like were the parts played right that didn't sing that he did play correctly.

  • I completely agree, you should at least pass the first round (not that I know how tough it is, but...you know)

  • Very nice, I always thought that the second Rach prelude was insane.

  • No. 5 is insane enough for me! :P at least for now...

but I WILL learn it someday--hopefully soon.

    just so beautiful

  • Btw, who won? you did your best

  • congratiulations. can't belive that you didn't make it to the next round too!

    very good piano playing!

  • lol! dude, how long are you going to adjust the seat? but anyways, great job! can't believe you didn't make it to the next round! :o

  • Honest opinion: your Bach is too weak (sound too small). Rachmaninov Prelude Op 23 no. 2 is indeed dirty but it is because you are playing too fast. Slow down and listen to the nice melodies that Rachmaninov has written. And your tone is sometimes too harsh in Op 23 No. 5 (again you rush ahead here). Even the slow section of Op 25. No. 5 needs more time (observe the long pharse lines!). That will fix many of the problems there. Chopin needs to be practiced more. You are Korean living in CA?

  • I agree with cdpiano27.

Your Bach is not convincing. There were too many mistake and uneveness in your Chopin Etude. Your Rach are all kind of harsh, like your were hitting the piano. Just need more training, I think you will have potential in the future.

  • Nice Bach. Chopin Etude really wasn't bad at all-a few little note things, but nothing horrible-it's a nasty etude! Rach. 2 was a little rushed and inaccurate, but great style and voicing in the middle section. Rach 5-voicing in middle was a bit overdone, but again great flair andstyle! That counts for a lot.

  • Lol really nice. How old were you when you played this?

  • nice organ playing dude.

  • sorry to hear you didn't make it past the first round :( you certainly have a lot of talent. i'm learning the prelude in b-flat right now... hardest piece i've ever learned lol!

  • nice playing how did the results go?

  • AMAZING PIANO.

  • what has Chopin and Bach to do with Russian Music?!

anyway, Great Playing. Did you reached the next round?

  • Take a look at the repertoire requirements before you say anything.

  • Your interpretation of Prelude No.5 was amazing.

  • that was bad ..

  • I HATE THOSE BENCHES.

  • rofl

  • Bach music is always amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • what was the second one he played

  • look in suscribe dude... it's chopin etude op. 10 no. 1 :)

  • sorry dude when i listened to this i was sick so i really was not paying much attention so yea but thanks for telling me anyway

  • ...dude...^^

  • I really enjoyed Rachmaninov Prelude op. 23 nr 5. Quite nice articulation maked it very special, that's it!

  • Russian Competition in San Jose, California? why? sounds weird!

  • My favorite was Prelude No. 5 Rachmaninoff. But overall you did a great job on all your pieces!!

  • How did you do there?

  • Gosh man! The standard of piano playing is so high these days. A few wrong notes and you're out. Good work fuzzy8.

  • It really depends whose playing sounds closest to perfection in general...never mind the missed notes!

  • Very nice job on the Bach Prelude and Fugue^^!

  • Reply to "pianistbayram": Yes, you are right. But, that's why I think this is bad. If you go to listen to any competition, only the "computer" ones win, and the creative, good, real pianists like this guy are out in the first round. In 15 years we have computers on the concerts, and in this case I prefer to buy cd-s and stay at home.

We need a change. And you need to practice more, fuzzy8balls!

  • Who doesn't need to practise more? I found some very nice moments in the Chopin. The Bach was pretty good,, light and clear, but as a matter of personal taste i would have liked to have heard it a bit stronger. I loved the Rach really,

  • can sombody please help me find rach's op23 no2 sheet music?

  • I really love how you played the Prelude no 5. by Rach. I don't really like when Rach plays it himself, it seems like it should be a very hesitantly angered piece. I have a video of myself playing the Presto Agitato by Beethoven, and would greatly appreciate comments from an accomplished pianist such as yourself.

  • You are a really good pianist, you can make it to the stars if you just keep going on. I like Chopin and Rachmaninoff, it was great!!!!!!!

  • he can't win of corse , many wrong notes...

  • Nice. Did you win?

  • Wow. You play piano really good. How long have you been playing? CAn I know when can I start to play Chopin Etude Op. 10, No.1? Like after 6 years of playing? Wow you are excellent there's loads of dynamics and articulations in your playing(especially in Etude Chopin op.10, No,1). Bravo!I really wish I can play those pieces someday...

  • Well, whenever you're ready...

Just work up to playing better...there is no piece that's really "the hardest"...it depends from person to person.

  • Cool thanks for the reply!!! God bless
