  • Hmm, all of the latest comments are a year old.

  • I truly couldn't care less it cellphones cause cancer. How many people's lives have been saved because they had access to a cellphone?

Guess what? You're going to die. Quit being so god damned neurotic and live.

  • Btw i'm an anti-smoker, but the reasoning in the cellphone/cancer part of the video is imho incomplete: are any of these trials randomized controlled trials? Probably not many, meaning that there can be a lot more bias and confounders than just industry sponsoring.

  • There is an item about this video being silenced on slashdot, titled "Your Rights Online: A Second Lessig Fair-Use Video Is Suppressed By WMG", tags dmca, fairuse, lessig, yro, copyright, story. A must read.

  • The magnificent wonders of very badly written law's and abusive use of them, guilty until proven innocent.

Send your thanks to the brib..eeerr ahm, lobbyists and their corrupti..eeerrr *cought* contributions to keep the corpora..ahem political and judicial system a respectfull and independent system.

And that new (secretly attempted) ACTA international treaty! Oh if you thought DMCA's were bad... hah!

  • Way to push the issue. For years, I've wondered why more people don't exercise their Rights. For 99% of us, it's because we can't afford to defend ourselves.

I really hope this is the tip of the spear that pushes the DMCA off the cliff.

Prof Lessig, how do you go about making sure the lawyers responsible for this action are punished for perjury? There has to be some judge out there somewhere that will start punishing lawyers for filing false DMCA notices...

  • Painfully ironic!

  • Ah, the irony..

I don't like the verbatim of the YT audio copyright message. "an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG". It's not like audio tracks needs to be authorized by WMG (at least I hope so). More like "WMG has disputed the copyright of this audio track".

  • I cannot imagine how WMG can get worse PR. It's not that I don't care about their products I am full of anger every time I see their logo or name. Any normal company would not want to have such a PR but modern media giants apparently can.

If a free market fails due to monopoly (or should I say cartel?) then there's only one rescue: law enforcement against it. But if the law fails...

In the example above WMG uses law to censor material that speaks against this kind of law abuse. Bravo!

  • They disabled the entire audio track for a little use of some copyrighted song. This just validates the entire lecture

  • Fucking audio disabled, hah.
