WELLL.first off you got Virginia closeing down alot of the rest areas, so there is no where to park and get rest. And what ones r open they only want you to stay there for 2 hrs and then leave. So how r u to get any rest there in the state of virginia. And most wreaks r caused by cars not the truck driver. I would ask u to go ride with a truck driver for a week and see what all he has to do then u just might have to change your mind on things.
@tcss4 Dear tcss4- I completely agree that Virginia's closure of the Rest Areas around mid to end 2009 due to cost issues is inexcusable. We had a man that had to park his truck on the right side of the freeway with other trucks lined up outside of a rest area because to go further he would be over-time and another trucker fell asleep at the wheel and hit him. Then the trucker that got hit got a ticket for where he parked!! I also agree that cars create accidents.
The driver and company are both easy targets. That's why you only mentioned those two. What about the customer that keeps a driver at their facility all day, then kicks the driver off their property once unloaded? How bout going after the government when the driver can't find a safe and legal place to park?
