akrabbim; I agree. The characters were solid and the writers wrote them that way, not always slipping out of character for convenience. Dave reminded me a lot of Bob Newhart in the way he mastered his timing. (Not to mention the occasional stutter...)
It really is a shame that this show fell out. I think part of its success was that every character fit their role perfectly, and the fact that they had a dedicated straight man in Dave Foley. A lot of shows get a character people really like (Big Bang Theory almost did this with Sheldon, but seemed to fix the issue), and then run it into the ground. You have to have a guy like Dave to set up your jokes.
Hey everybody, we've launched our 2011 campaign to get Phil Hartman his star on the Canadian and Hollywood Walks of Fame. We are working hard to get Phil his stars this year and we need all the help we can get! Please visit the "Phil Hartman for Walk of Fame" page on Facebook. A link to Canada's Walk of Fame is posted there and anybody in the of age can vote. Share you favorite Phil lines and characters with us! We hope to see you there!
I watched this show religiously but I never saw Jimmy get mad no matter what! But when I saw this one I laughed so hard I couldn't breath! Thsn k you for putting this one up!
@TheOcean69 Jimmy James actually got mad several more times, particularly I remember when Matthew nearly lost him his entire fortune during season 5, with the hippy billionaire, and when Dave was giving a message to his high school and Jimmy talked about his time in Cambodia.
WHY can't anyone come up with shows of this quality anymore?? Every single one was hilarious. And yet so many people didn't know about it. What a shame. It was much better than Friends (which I think was funny but not like News Radio) in my opinion...

ha "When in the course of Human Events" is from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. A RARE miss by Newsradio.

I love the follow up to this scene later... "Bill, I'm gonna jump to the end and work my way backwards...do you like Ernie and Bert?"

I didn't know this until a few months ago. Stephen Root played Milton in "office space". I never would have guessed it in a million years.

I had the same reaction! It doesn't even remotely look like the same person.

I know. I can't recall who told me, but I was floored. He was GREAT in that roll. He was in Dodgeball too.

There are shows this good. You should watch Arrested Development (from the beginning or it won't seem funny) and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
