Wow, this is so cut up, we don't really get to know anything about these farmers, their size and the relevance of this issue. Clearly a paid promotional piece highly edited to promote this organization's aims and this issue which, strangely, it doesn't specifically address at all.

"Out of state animal rights activists" seems to ignore the fact that the products of these farms are also sold outside of Ohio. I care about animals all over. I don't think this ballot issue helps them.

Factory farms use huge amounts of antibiotics in livestock to promote growth & prevent rampant disease. Scientists estimate that 25-75% of antibiotics pass into manure unchanged. So when waste from factory farms enters the environment, antibiotics contaminate surface&groundwater. This promotes development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which makes antibiotics used for humans less effective.

An Ohio study showed that 67% of water samples taken near poultry farms contained antibiotics. NO ON 2

. Look at the "allowed" list of organic substances. They are allowed to use "ivermectin" when organic system does not prevent infestation. They are allowed to use "Oxytocin" when animals don;t let down their milk. They are allowed to use ethelyn for postharvest rippening of fruit. All these are man made synthetic chemicals. The same stuff large farms use. Only difference is, the public doesn't know this due to false advertising and charge the poor consumer 4 times as much.

I have no problem raising livestock for food but I have a huge problem with the treatment these animals receive in these "meat factorys" as well as all the air pollution, rodents, dead animal carcases, and animal waste that contaminates our water.
