To me this band can do no wrong. I happen to love bands with a slightly darker edge to them, one that I'll mention is Joy Division, and many people dont like them for the singer because his voice is kinda muttled and drowned out. They seem like real musicians playing what they want to play and not conforming to the masses to make them happy. But it does take a special ear to listen to their music
WTF dude. This is an amazing album! I didnt really like the past albums. Didnt give me anything new. For my ears, you know. The ears man. This album did. But whatever dude.
I really liked this LP, it was fresh (haha) and interesting. as much as i love lofi, i think their sound benefited with an upgrade. I think they are super underrated
Ok this is probably going to sound stupid but this is what I think. Like imagine Edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros. I think of that as sorta cowboy in a tiny town in the 1800s an he is fed up with everyone so he roams the wilderness on a horse tripping his balls off. Fast forward to nowadays. There's a teenager maybe a distant relative of the older cowboy person but in a similar position. He takes his car out and goes driving very fast but sorta a parallel to what happened generations earlie
Took me so long, but I am head over hells in love with this band. The EP August in my Mind showed me how much talent they had and forced me to pay more attention. After that it all clicked.
Hello Anthony, I just wanted to recommend reviewing duo Ghostland Observatory's upcoming album "Codename: Rondo" set to be released Oct. 26. (their prior works is worth a listen as well). You can find the title-track online. I wouldn't call them electronic virtuosos per say, but those two can definitely put on one hell of a show.
Anthony, I do hope you get better this week...you should make yourself some lemon tea and listen to the most soothing sleepy music ever-that should work :-)
There was a time when I really liked The Brian Jonestown Massacre...but then you just get tired of the whole retro thing. There are a lot of people in this country who want to pretend like the 60s never happened, but I don't think pretending like they never ended exactly helps.
Anthony, I think that you have been giving bad ratingslately is because you are sick. You probably are not enjoying the music so much because you body feels bad which is destracting. I know that when I'm sick I hate everything. Plus, so far Im digging Play It Strange, and Age of Adz has been absolutly blowing my mind. All I'm saying is that you should give these albums another listen once you are less ill.
Anthony, would you ever consider doing a review of Closer by Joy Division, You did review Pink Flag, and you also appreciate New Order, so I like to know how you feel about where it all came from
@nzwwefan I remember that video. I believe they were on opposite sides of the screen, which wouldn't make it too hard for 2 videos to be stitched together like that.
Weird. Where have i seen this album cover before ?
The song Summer Of Love sounds like the song Incense and Peppermints. I'll wait for this one to pop up in the used album bin and maybe pay 5 bucks for it.
Hey TND, have you heard the new Yawning Man album, Nomadic Pursuits? Pretty spacey/instrumental desert rock, came out a coupla months ago. I recently found out that they came out with their new album, and I was surprised to see that very few music reviewers covered it. Wuzzupwitdat?
@malachite125 Dunno. Just listened to a few tracks from it on their MySpace. It's oooooooookayyyyyyyyyyyy. I can't say I was getting all that excited. *shrugs*
