...I think they say it is the best because the inherent value is to prioritize individual liberty over our (most people's) decent instinct for egalitarianism (equality). This means that, as we each think we are special, unto ourselves, so is this translated into the ideal of an entire country made up of immigrants, tribes, races, groups, religions, etc. from all over the world. So in other words the America is great as is it considers it's people, themselves, as individuals, truly special.

Seriously, I love how Americans like to pretend they're the greatest country in the world because of their so called 'military'. Not only is the military budget unsustainable, but EVERY conflict the USA has engaged in for the past decade has been a total failure. The US government is broke, the US education system has produced a generation of losers and retards, and the time is right for them to be overtaken by Europe and China. @somestring America was misinformed about the whole affair. Politicians tried to run the war who had no idea of the tenacity of the Vietcong whom their troops were up against. The Vietcong were willing to die in combat for their defence of Vietnam, while the average US soldier wasn't willing to sacrifice his life for a foreign country that did not appreciate his presence. That was why America lost the war. It could not be won, unless the entire country was nuclearized.

The United States helped the Allies financially until 1941 when it officially declared war on the Axis powers, and even then it did not deploy troops for another year and a half. It then finally began deploying a trickle of troops into Europe. 5% of the troops = US.
