  • I "only" play the german medieval bagpipe, but I´m going to learn the highlandpipe soon. I wish I would be scottish!

    Greets from Germany!

  • what is the song at 6:02 ? is that The Rowan Tree?

  • not from scottland but do like the pipes keep kickin butt eh

  • Amazing !!!

  • The one thing the Brits got right was setting up this school... GO BAGPIPES!!!!

  • does anyone know if you have to be in the British army to go to the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming?

  • What Is the tune when they are dancing?

  • we play the pipes in my cadet core. (Canada 3016 highlanders) and we wear glens like those guys.

  • we play the pipes in my cadet core. (Canada 3016 highlanders)

  • Jesus was scottish :D

  • bagpipes are contradictions

  • I can't understand a word some of these people are saying. Are all these people speaking English? LOL...

  • Six months from zero to parade ready~~Holy crud that's good!!!! That's what constant learning and practicing will do for you...I must be a slow learner::::

  • When I visited my friend in hospital after he had major surgery I ask the doctor if he would be able to play the bagpipes when he came home. The doctor said of course I said thats great because he couldn't play the fuckers when he came in the hospital.

  • lol!

  • it must make your family SO proud, to watch you walk around playing the bagpipes in defense of your country... while wearing a dress.

  • yes, the pipes are invigorating, but they belong on the kind of battlefield thats gone forever. the kind where you actually face the enemy from 20 feet away as hes comin at ya like a rabid pitbull holding a 3 foot blade !! and there was 200 other dudes comin with him!!

  • 2006 piper grade 3 course!! Faugh a Ballagh!

  • as long as one piper is left on the field with me, i know i am safe from snipers. ;-)

  • What's the first song called?

  • amazing grace

  • i enjoy bagpipes they sound cool:)

  • a TG drumming pad!! quality!!

  • haha dude ur name is awsome, is it makin fun of obama?

  • good on ya lads!

  • I would probably die if I saw or heard them in real life...

  • Hi, does anyone know the tunes played after about a minute of this video. It appears to be at the Edinburgh Tattoo? The first is an upbeat 6/8 or 2/4 ??? followed by a slow air.

    Thanks

  • Whas Like Us, 8 Tattoo's under ma belt

  • Respect from ALBANIANS!

  • Never have I ever felt more full of uplifted yet humble spirit than in the mist of a morning parade ground to bagpipes playing amazing grace. I am always uplifted to see a scottish piper and always utterly revolted to see this proud tradition bastardised by american ones.

  • wow your fucking stupid

  • We did not steal the land. Nope we kicked your Ass and won that land.

  • what about the poor Buffalows they suffered too.

  • do us all a favor and stay south of the rio Grnade.

  • wash out you ears they say HIGHLAND not IRELAND

  • Google--Tucson Celtic Festival video--To see 3 half hour videos 1FunTV

  • Beautiful music...

  • What is the name of the song in the beginning? I love it.

  • Amazing Grace

  • The truth is that the bagpipe really makes u fly and make u proud whatever nationality u are !

  • Agreed. They are a great tradition here in Canada as well.

  • but if it wsasnt for scottish imagrents youre countries (canada and america) you would have no connection with bagpipes, yet the U.S hates mexacin imagrints. hipacritical

  • what do mexicans have to do with anything you just said, you illiterate tit?

  • wow stereotype much asshole? We don't hate Mexican immigrants, we hate ILLEGAL immigrants. America was founded on immigrants from every country not just Scotland. maybe you should take a class or 2 on world history before you run your mouth like that again.

  • Well said soundblade, well said!

  • what tune are they playing around 3:19 on the practice chanters?

  • The tune is "The Green Hills of Tyrol"

  • @3DPiper The tune is "Amazing Grace," a Christian hymn written by English poet and clergyman John Newton published in 1779. With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God, "Amazing Grace" is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.

  • @smirnoff1589 The Law ... , think that one´s called "The Law" aka : get smashed to bits ´n ´ pieces . Peace !

  • GO IRELAND GO!

  • what the fuck you talking about ireland for ?

  • The video has nothing to do with Ireland. Its clearly about the British army.

  • GO IRELAND!!

  • Why are you talking about Ireland, on a video which is clearly about the British Army???

  • Scotland is an amazing land. Has a very powerful spiritual feel to the land. Dont feel that here in England

  • Very nice culture, but killing black bears to make the fancy hats pisses me off.

  • You best look a'gin as Black Bears do no'ave feathers- the hats you refer to are worn mainly by British Grenadiers and are now made with faux fur.

  • Nevermind then. Thanks for telling me :)

  • Yes well if you see a Badger- let me know I'll gut the bastard and make a new Sporran! lol

  • scotland !!!!!!!

  • The english regiments had a input in inventing pipes and Drums, before this the scottish regiments only use to have eight pipers and no drums, where as the English regiments had fife and drums. It was during a battle when the Gorden Highlanders were marching down a road playing the pipes, when English drummers started to beat to the tune, and hence the idea was formed, this is why drummers in pipe bands often wear the red scarlet tunic of the English

  • Wats the difference between Scottish and English??

  • so much as the difference between usa and canada... and thats a frenchman's point of view!

  • huh

  • I'd say much more than that.

  • Are you serious bro??? Culture, ethnicity, and border, just to name a few.

  • English are civilized as they invaded Scotland and and tried to rape the Scottish culture. Of course a German would say that the English were more civilized.

  • all my knowledge about sctoland is based on the movie highlander. no honestly, i was just joking.

  • Lol wow. No its cool i didnt mean the whole german thing but wow

  • in reply i was drunk so i am sorry for my spelling and insulting me by calling me illiterate just wont stand and yes im against the act of union and i am against the english

  • Go on the scots, forever warriors!

  • An excellent film showing that the young men, particularly the young Scotsmen, who follow us have pride and skill in the music that drove British troops to victory.

I fancy a go at the drums, me, but I'm too old now for them to take me.

  • One of the best times in my Army days was spent in this school...Even though im English.... Happy memories

  • lol u talk of your act of union scotland was ceeded to england by a cowering noble man and look at the votes england had more poletitions by 2 to 1 so there for a vote was certain fucking american bastard

  • haha that guy had a german helmet in 00:12

  • hahaha your right

  • no true scot would accept a foreign queen (as nice as she is)as head of their land.

  • in other words, we'll send you to most likely get butchered but we will fill you full of delusions that your true scots because we'll tell you how to use pipes!

  • This beautiful scottish tradition is used/exploited by the british army. They are putting a spin on it to make exploitation sound good. The pipes existed for thousands of year before that fucking BA and yet these bastards make it out like the pipes need them to continue the tradition. Think about these ''scottish'' soldiers. Yeah they are born in scotland but they are fucking brits it you go back far enough in their family. Same problem exists in N Ireland. These are pseudocelts.

  • If it wasn't for the British we wouldn't have bagpipes in North America, Australia or New Zealand. Everyone is always in an uproar about how the English control the Scots. Read your history Act of Union 1707 when the parliaments of England and Scotland AGREED by voting to pass the act of Union. So you see it was Scotland's Choice to become a part of the UK. Don't forget about the Union of Crowns in 1603. Also we wouldn't have Pipe bands as we know them today if it wasn't for the British.

  • Thats pure speculation on your part, bagpipes would have still gotten around the world without the british. As for the Act of Union, your simply stating that the scottish parliament agreed with is an obvious fact if you read your history, however scotland has always been at war with the English to some

degree or another and I would hardly say that the act represented the views of every scottish person at the time.

  • Well look at it this way, if it weren't for all the wars England fought with Scotland and later incorparating Scottish soldiers into their army to fight around the world the Scots would just be known as shephards instead of some of the most badass shock troops in modern history.

  • What? your saying scots are good fighters because of practice with the brits? Thats rubbish, the scots are fighters naturally just like the Irish since they operated with a clan system before they took in british influence.

  • Of course they're natural fighters (I know, I'm part Scottish and Irish myself), I'm saying that their reputaion has spread around the world because of their service across the British Empire.

  • It was not the people of Scotland who voted to become part of England in1707. The were sold out for money by the Scott parliament

  • Sorry to hear that .We were too I know the feeling

  • Very true mate. The Writer Daniel defoe was an English spy in Edinburgh at the time and said the Edinburgh population would have killed him if they had known this they were so against the Union. This was the case throughout Scotland. All just history now.

  • @watchman241 Um guy hate to tell you this but celts originated in Northern FRANCE, so I wouldn't get so high and mighty...

  • and lets not forget us from ireland and the war pipes

  • I'd actually like to learn the Irish war pipes as I'm more Irish than Scottish.

  • The running guy from 0:08 looks like my bagpipe teacher. Ö

  • i realy want to learn how to play a bagpipe... but i live in belgium and here , the bagpipe isn't that popular =( such a shame

  • So what i livin in Holland so? As soon as a can a wil leave to Scotland to settle there. Ive Scottish blood so. Im learnin thae pipes now at thae very moment.

    Ye could do too ;)

  • zbzmtf,

If you google Antwerp and district Pipe band then I'm sure they can help you on your way to learn to play or put you in contact with a band or teacher near you

  • im palestinian and i play the bagpipes and this year i bought my r.g. hardie bagpipe this is great

  • my grandmother came here when she was 5... so, can i join -- just joking. I'd love to learn the pipes. you folks rock.

  • Man!! look at that decorated dude at 1:35, damn that is like the best job ever!

  • I can't believe you all have the opportunity for that in the Army in the UK. We have nothing close to that here in the states. I would do it for the drumming skills alone as I have played drums for many years.

    Thats outstanding!

  • To whoever added this to YT: you are a LEGEND.

  • the bagpipes for me, have been with me since i was a lad, and reminds me of my father and my scottish heritage.

bagpipes are forever, and so are the soldiers who fight for honor and glory of their country and countryman

  • Okay, just keep the YouYube peace, since they really don't believe in the freedom of information act...I left a comment, they just have their side they lean on!

  • Amazing Grace a great tune but it's so overplayed! it kills me now when I hear it

  • I really know how you feel. Even though it doesn't sound as good any other way, its kind of boring to play and there's only so much you can do to spice it up.

  • You really don't understand the lyrics of the song, the meaning, and fortitude it offers. Comprehension is the biggest part of music. You have to understand the author-- it's a frame of mind so to speak.

  • @W0bbl344 That and "Scotland the Brave". Tired of them both...

  • There is, if you ever wondered if you have a Gal in Kalamazoo, do a search engine search for the "Kalamazoo Pipe Band." God Bless them!

I know it's not the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming, but it still has the "Spirit!"

  • It's unfortunate they don't offer anything like that in the States. That's quite an opportunity.

  • They do! The USMC has had an offical pipe band sense the 1940's and the USAF has one now.

  • i love that song!

    tnx by the way

  • wha'ts the name of the first song they're playing

  • thats amazing grace!!!!

I grew up with a close relationship to the military, and spend my career working in close proximity to the U.S. Navy and Air Force Bands. I'm certain that I can speak for them when I say that they have the utmost respect for you, as do I.
