For me I just think it's a bad Idea to drill every place in the USA and then let Bush and Chaney" benefits from domestic oil.
Here's something to think about Bush is trying to propose a hydrocarbon law and the Bush administration wants the Iraqi Parliament to pass it, this will effectively place the country's massive oil reserves in the hands of big U.S. and British oil giants for decades.
For me, I'd like Gore and other unelected activists attempting to implement policy, to at least be straight forward about the details of their plan, instead of wrapping every presentation in obvious half truths. Bush is gone in a few months. The question is, whether or no the era of secretive government is too... CRK
Well I look at it this way: If he was elected 4 years ago, we might of wee a start by now. Gorge Bush is clearly thinking of one thing "oil" and building his oil empire.
I feel he has no regards for the American people and his only agenda was getting Iraq"s oil and hiding behind terrorism to build his empire which is truly sad!
If Regan would have listend to Jimmy Carter and not DISMANTLED the energy plan in which he installed then we wouldn't be in this mess. For years republicans have aligned themselves with the "big oil companies" and if you notice it's always some extremely rich republicans running those companies in the first place so obviously they will never devorce themselves from their counterparts until something catasrophic happens.
LOL. Actually the worst damage was promoted by the Left. It is a fact the largest portion of Greenhouse Gas Emissions come from Power Plants. The cleanest, mnost EFFECIANT Power Plant is a Nuclear Power Plant. Now why aren't Nuclear Power Plants all across the country which pioneered Nuclear Tech? Well it's a funny story; turns out that until about 5 years ago, the "No Nukes" Movement was one of the Left's most sucessfull efforts. But, OK, it's greed that makes us wary of Leftist advice:) CRK
You're of course assuming that the only way to eliminate our dependency on foreign oil is through domestic oil. The plans Gore outline would require thousands upon thousands of jobs here at home, which would be a better location for us to send our money than overseas. Renewable energy is permanent solution for our children and grandchildren; drilling here is temporary and selfish.
I agree with your attacks on Gore's personal use of energy, but don't use it to detract from a positive message.
And I agree with you, investing in renewable energy should be a priority. If that's Gore's agenda, then he wants to end our dependence on OIL, not just foreign oil. Why phrase it differently, unless to hide the truth. Gore is distorting the true goal and that is dishonest.
"Greening" America is a huge undertaking which will alter EVERY aspect of life in this country. For that reason those who lead the way must do so with integrity, & that's where Gore has fallen short. CRK
Even if you drill and don't export it, then America's setting them self up for a boycott from foreign oil.
Not only does oil get circulated in to the market but China and India will exhume most of USA oil. If the USA hold it's stance on exporting then other countries will do the same. Now if that is the case then America will lose in the long run, because the USA export oil but the amount is trivial, about 20,000 barrels per day vs. our 10,000,000
PS: My point to this is even if you increase your drilling you can't support your own economy
PS: How come the oil companies don't use the 68 million acres of federal land and offshore sites now leased by oil companies that sit idle?
Because they are use this crises to get more federal land, and you know who is happy to push this through. You guest it "Bush and Chaney" It benefits them and oil companies.
OK, your never going to convince me that by drilling more Oil, the economy will suffer. That's just insane.
Gore is the one who brought up ending dependence on foreign oil, so I don't know who said anything about a boycott.
I realize that our domestic product may never be able to fully cover domestic demand. However, if renewable energy products proliferate, domestic oil production could cover the remainder, you know, for people like AL Gore who don't practice what they preach. CRK
Fair enough, and I agree with you as well. However, the problem is that he is a very well known and respected politician. He's not anywhere even close to perfect, and he may be hypocritical, but that's no reason to shoot down the idea. Yes, he should make severe changes to his own life before he expects other Americans to do the same. But the message still stands, regardless of his decision. Americans need to start finding their own integrity without pop culture having to lead the way.
Al Gore is an expert at claiming things as his invention or idea. You seem sincere in your commitment and I respect that
Most everyone would agree that alternative energy should be a goal. Most everyone would agree that pollution is bad. And honrestly, these feeling weren't inspired by any recent movement, just commonsense.
But when an affluent elitist preaches to the "little people" about "their wasteful ways," but doesn't act like it applies to him, the message appears to be hot air:) CRK
If you listen to T. Boone Pickens the oil companys do not want to drill and besides they have had tons of leases in which to drill, guess what they did not drill! again listen to T.Boone Pickens they don't want too or take the risk, you do know who T. Boone Pickens is don't you? a successful oil man,so 8 years of bush/cheny the oil men,the leases were there why didn't push thier friends to drill? because of greed sure and simple and no risk to profits.
I respect T. Bone Pickens as a businessman, no doubt, Pickens has always done very well for himself. Of course I'm interested in learning more about his plan,. However, you realize that his plan is different from Al Gore's plan, don't you?
And if Oil Companies don't want to drill, then why not lift the ban? By your logic, no one will drill anyway. You must have considered this obvious flaw in your argument, please take the time and explain.... CRK

Besides all exported crude goes to Canada, where it is likely refined and sent back as gasoline.
