A high end mouse is an incredibly precise peripheral. Once mastered, it offers a level of precision that, quite simply, isn't achievable on a gamepad. As I'm sure others have said, Microsoft had planned to try integrating PC and 360 gaming environments but quickly realized that the PC users had a massive advantage with a KB/M.
fact of the matter is, keyboard and mouse is the best control method for any game period. Although racing and football games are arguable.
I emulate tons of games from snes, n64 and PS1, and i use a keyboard for all these games. i can play them way better with keyboard than i ever did with the original console controllers....
The only reason people argue this is because they have no practice with a keyboard!! If they spent a month using it they would never consider using a pad for any game....

Lastly.While a fast look speed is good for mouse, it is not for gamepads. Thus their inability to aim accurately with a controller. Faster is not always better.

You can leave your controller sitting on a table and have an enemy walk by, and the crosshair will move towards them. Try playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive on console, it wont have aim assist. That said, I always admired people who could skillfully use a controller to play a shooter and actually be good at it. About a year ago I got a laptop and started hardcore pc gaming. It took me about 2 months to get used to mouse and keyboard (which I had NEVER used before, ever for gaming), after that I can say that m/k is much better for me.
I mean I'm not saying "M/K is greater than Controller" I want to reclerify myself as to not start a war... M/K takes maybe an hour to get used to. Controller can take a couple days to get going if you have never used them. M/K and controller gamers can achieve the same skill set but controller gamers must work someone harder at it. Both are great.

@ChickenKrispy im also a console gamer and i would say that m/k setup would be harder to adjust. but it really depends on preferences and some people can just jump on a m/k and instantly be good or someone could instantly use a controller like theyve played for years. what i'm trying to say is it depends on which feels more comfortable for the player and it depends on how long they play/practice with there setup.

You didn't adjust the controller's settings optimally at all. No one who wants to play well would use a low sensitivity. And, in conclusion, the mouse is more precise.

i like both to be honest the mouse is better and feels more fluent than a joystick... however extended play on a keyboard can cause your fingers to feel numb and when that happens i like picking up a controller.. i can play with a mouse on my couch and still be real good... if not better than when playing at a desk cuz im more cozy. The only advantage i see in a controller is the rumble feature? it'd be cool if a keyboard came with a little rumble feature or soemthing (not mouse rumble cuz aim)

As a pc gamer noob i just started playing for the first time. I went to a lot of efort to set my 360 controller to work with my pc but i can honestley say it is easer to use but its slower no sensativity snd u cant configure all ir buttons. I will just have to learn to use my mamba and keyboard

@zombiedeutsch I dont think there is an option for aim assist on the PC. I have now played the console CoD's and can confirm that it is 4-5 times easier on the console than the PC, as the console has all the assists enabled anyway.

@cleolaasaphrona Steam is like xbox live. you download and install the steam software, then you can buy games from it with paypal or a credit card. it is a digital copy, but if you ever have to reinstall you will not have a problem redownloading and installing. you will lose gamesaves.
And by sheer luck, I walked away from a game of Homefront with 18 kills, which is saying something to someone who has only played it for 2 weeks. And a minimum death count. I typically SUCK at Counter Strike Source. Never really get much more than 8 kills in one match.
Who cares a SHIT about which control style is better. It doesn't matter which is easier and better, it's really the player. Personally, I find controllers to require skill (as a 10 year PC gamer myself, being 13). Sure, M/K aren't as...awkward, as a controller might be, but it requires more skill to master, and once mastered, you become a god.

On MW2, you look at the leaderboards, EVERYONE is hacked. Not a single person at the top has made it there by actually playing. Don't go around talking about how "HURR THERE ISNT MUCH HACKING ON CONSOLE DURR" It's bullshit.

@ThePixelWalrus I know there is hacking on the console, but its nowhere near as unbearable as it can be on the PC, and i wouldnt say everywhere you go, i dont really care for what other people are on the leaderboards anyway, as long as im playing legit im happy with my score. I still play cod4, mw2 and blackops on xbox and yes the odd infinite ammo hacker comes into cod4 games, but once he quits and migrates host to somebody legit, you can get a decent game until everyone quits that host...

It's a myth console gamers like to use to put down the PC, hackers usually hack free2play games, so they can keep making new accounts, I remember them being in Gunz and AvA online and Warrock.
I bought a 360pad for my PC today :D works nice for lots of my games.

i like both to be honest the mouse is better and feels more fluent than a joystick... however extended play on a keyboard can cause your fingers to feel numb and when that happens i like picking up a controller.. i can play with a mouse on my couch and still be real good... if not better than when playing at a desk cuz im more cozy. The only advantage i see in a controller is the rumble feature? it'd be cool if a keyboard came with a little rumble feature or soemthing (not mouse rumble cuz aim)

As a pc gamer noob i just started playing for the first time. I went to a lot of efort to set my 360 controller to work with my pc but i can honestley say it is easer to use but its slower no sensativity snd u cant configure all ir buttons. I will just have to learn to use my mamba and keyboard

@zombiedeutsch I dont think there is an option for aim assist on the PC. I have now played the console CoD's and can confirm that it is 4-5 times easier on the console than the PC, as the console has all the assists enabled anyway.

@cleolaasaphrona Steam is like xbox live. you download and install the steam software, then you can buy games from it with paypal or a credit card. it is a digital copy, but if you ever have to reinstall you will not have a problem redownloading and installing. you will lose gamesaves.

Who cares a SHIT about which control style is better. It doesn't matter which is easier and better, it's really the player. Personally, I find controllers to require skill (as a 10 year PC gamer myself, being 13). Sure, M/K aren't as...awkward, as a controller might be, but it requires more skill to master, and once mastered, you become a god.

its wired that mouse users say that a mouse is allot quicker.. i mean i played cod at high sensitivity (9) and my k.d was sitting at about 4ish.. i set it down to 3 and my k.d moved up to 4.8.. most mlgers play low sensitivity.. i mean you still have to stop and shot ur target....if mouse is so much better why do professional gamers on the mlg circuit use controls..
