  • title of the song sums up this performance!

  • Classic. Awesome. Pure sex. Pure power. Pure punk.

  • Good lord...Dave Vanian is just sex on a stick.

  • I remember watching this at the age of 15 and it changed what music listened too FOREVER. A life changing event.....

  • I wish more guys dressed like Vanian or Captain...

  • @TheLindsayBarrett I'm a cross between Dave Vanian and Brian James :D

  • I THINK IT WAS ON THE MARC BOLAN SHOW ORIGINALLY. IT DON'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS ... I RECKON IT WAS THE BEST ROCK N ROLL SINGLE IN THE WORLD EVER !!!!

  • to think this was on a kids music show..this was before any other english punk bands had been on tv. amazing

  • now, how much speed and alcohol do you imagine they were on?

  • My brother called me downstairs to watch this when it was first shown. It started a 4 year love affair with punk and it's still as raw and brilliant today as it was back then

  • i love the damned but I clicked the thumbs down cos it's the real punk thing to do; love live the damned

  • Don`t know why they had to look like women.

  • @peaceman1234567 i think the singer was going for the vampire look- not transvestite !

  • When your live performance sounds better than your studio recording thats the sign of a fucking great band.

  • Captain still have the price tag on that bass?

  • @KillingJoke696 Captain wasn't the guitarist?

  • a joke band?

sorry mr lydon,a bloody good punk rock band ,if not the best!

rip joe, yous had a bit of a shout in there aswell ha

  • Damn!!!

  • The Captain is truly original - how did he play his guitar with all his theatrics going on!

  • @deeder2000 That was Brian James on Guitar : )

  • @THEMRTENEESSEE It's a reference to a solo song that Captain Sensible did in the early 80s

  • @THEMRTENEESSEE "He said 'Captain!' - I said 'Wot?' "

  • .. christ.. 0 people dont know how to punk out.

  • Dangerous and at the same time Comedic.

  • After all these years , the DaMMMned remain the Be$t Punk Band !!!!!!!!

  • uno dei poki gruppi del 77 che sapeva suonare

  • just the damned best.nz rates u.

  • What the fuck? The barely show the genius of the group, Brian James.

  • it's punky......not funky.

  • I remember seeing this in 1977-my raging teenage hormones were highly receptive to the Punk Rock sound. Quite right too, as the late Mr. Peel would say.

  • This tune was ok but I didn't have much respect for The Damned at the time cos they were clowning around while more serious groups like The Pistols and The Clash were inciting rebellion.

If I wanted comedy back in the new wave days I'd stay home and watch Morecambe and Wise

  • @Ze0p0ld You WOULD??Morcombe an Wise??Wow...

  • @Ze0p0ld the damned proved to be some of the best tunesmiths of the era along with weller and jones/ strummer- the pistols were a one-off- lydons a wanker- the damned still put on a show that most 18 yer olds cant match-- ps by clowning around they were taking the piss out of the '''serious punk" which is more punk if you think about it

  • The Damned are the best group ever... NO CONTEST !

  • @psychodamned wow way 2 cool. seen them in detroit and in miami.saw Vanian do a tribute to MC5.Bass tracks r fast and furios.First 2 albums were awesome ,Every song on those 2 albums were good. Can't say that about 2 many other bands.Saints,Depressions etc

  • Damned one of my favourites bands, after The Clash...

fantastic cover, there's any record avaiable with this version?

  • Mine also!!!

  • This is on the record "Damned Damned Damned". Definitely one of my favorite 70's punk albums.

  • my intro to punk rock lifechanging

  • Brian James is such a badass. One of the most important punk bands

  • but despite some great songs after he left, never the same again..

  • i agree with you on that., i definitely like these days the best.

  • No you're right Capt is a much better guitarist

  • Brian James is my guitar idol. Criminally ignored !! He looked cool as F**k as well !

  • I remember seeing this one saturday morning. The Damned - the quintessential punk band.

  • @revjimbob err you missed the word TRANSVESTITE punk band

  • @peaceman1234567

The rest of the charts at the time were filled with the likes of the Bee Gees - long blow-dried hair, silk shirts and high-pitched voices. the Damned were poitibely butch in comparison.

  • glitchesandglitter: you are so right! I still have all these old records from 31 years ago. And The Damned shine far above the rest.

  • far surpasses the sex pistols in every way..!
