Spectacular vid, Eric. I live in District 2 of Pan Am Railroad, here in the North Shore of Mass.
and when those GP-402's are hauling six to seven coaches for the MBTA, they are smokin' at
run eight going over crossings 60-to70 mph. They are slowly being replaced by the newer P-42s. It is my understanding that CSX will be purchasing those GEEPS for freight power after
the conversion to P-42s is complete. I really enjoyed your camera work.
@TheSouthern4501 May seem that way, but most likely the CR unit is not loading properly and should probably shut down, excess smoke is sign of engine over speed by that i mean rpm, its not putting the power down.
@o00o00ozy Why do the MBTAs geeps have such small fuel tanks? I know that their daily route doesn't take then very far but they would need to be refueled constantly wich such small tanks. The coaches dont weigh much I don't see what is the advantage of a small fuel tank.
Nice shootin' there Tex, really enjoyed!. Saw a couple of things that made me curious. The Autorack at 6:19/6:20 (any idea what it was?), and the 2nd TOFC Mech-Reefer at 7:13 was straddling car 1 and 2 (never saw that before!). Keep 'em coming...love that HD video and sound.
@cpwhampton Thanks guys. I think all of us have a real passion for trains if we comment on videos like this. Although I think we can agree that having your car sound like an FM H12-14 Train Master with the classic FM opposed-piston sound rigged to the accelerator isn't quite being "fanatical" about railroad.
To @nukinfuts1000 - I've never seen that type of intermodel containers in the form and shape like that. Because the doors are on the side, and that model must have square holes on the sides to hold it. Wait, now that I think about it, I've seen that type of container in a train video in Germany. I'll try to find the web address so you can see!
@o00o00ozy Lol. Youtube has become 99% fail and 1% real people. I HATE people that don't read. Comments are comments, not interrogating already answered question boxes.
the Buffalo line runs through the most scenic places, the variety of trains is amazing, and runs the most variety of power. Emd dominates and foriegn/lease power is as common as GE's across the river on the Pitt line. Those 38's sure were humming, i caught the 3805 on H3W in May also, paired up with two lease 40-2's and a gp - and still underpowered - amazing sound!
Harrisburg you say, thats where the new bishop is from that we got in the fort wayne south bend diocese Kevin Carl Rhodes hes a big tall man, nice guy but very buissy and I bet he had to fend the ladies off with a stick when he was younger he is quite hansome.
I like steam trains myself though, B&O is where many of my family here where I live used to work for, In fact Moms dad drove the train that had Ehsenhour on it when he was campagning and spill coffie on him, he appologised though.
Dang nice video! Super clear and good camera skills. If I had to guess, I would've said the train with the '38's was shot 10 years ago. Really good looking paint on the Ex-Con and almost no graffiti on the train cars. Well done.
Very, very nice. Quality of video & sound was GREAT! Loved the SD38's in notch 8. What camera are you using. Thinking about buying a "real" video camera instead of just making do with my Sony DSC-H1.
I noticed that the NS engine 3818 did not seem to have smoke coming from the exhaust. When they are running in tandem like that, is the second engine acting as a slug?
Eric, I was wondering if you could tell me the best place(most trains) in Our Area-berks county? During the week is most likely the time...but any help is appriciated
Awesome stuff!! Really great!! Love the chase with 3805!! Request!! Get out to Boiling springs on The Yellow Breeches creek sometime behind Allenberry play house. Beside great fishing, Nice crossing and very nice curve.
What was all that static-y stuff. I just put it on this video and walked away and I came back and it was like heavy analog TV static. I clicked aroud and it all was. Then I left the page and came back and it was trains again; damn I should have recorded it. Damn. I'm not even shitting you lol it was like a news station cutting through tv static.

@deloreanman14 No. They were enroute to Altoona, PA and Juniata Heavy Haul Shops to be rebuilt by NS's contract mechanical 'paper company' Thoroughbred Mechanical Services. The units will receive a full mechanical overhaul, carboy, truck, and wheel work, then paint and be returned. Also to note. These are NOT MBTA1130, 1136, and 1132. They are MBTX1130, 1136, and 1132. MassBay is not a common carrier, and AAR marks MBTA are unassigned.
