  • in what town was the last shot taken?

  • Spectacular vid, Eric. I live in District 2 of Pan Am Railroad, here in the North Shore of Mass.

and when those GP-402's are hauling six to seven coaches for the MBTA, they are smokin' at

run eight going over crossings 60-to70 mph. They are slowly being replaced by the newer P-42s. It is my understanding that CSX will be purchasing those GEEPS for freight power after

the conversion to P-42s is complete. I really enjoyed your camera work.

Damn, do I love 645s in RUN-*!

  • One of those GP40s got a serious flatspot

  • superb video with very nice editing........

    greetings from india......

  • thats cool the crossing in richland pa i cross that every night going to work its one hell of a curve with the up and the ns loco

  • @MasterCSX I'm confused by this comment. Are you saying this train left with excess horsepower for the tonnage involved in the departure consist?

  • is that a sd45w?

  • love the SD60M idle whine

  • that CR lead seemed to be the only one working its guts out on that grade....lazy ass trailing unit lol

  • @TheSouthern4501 May seem that way, but most likely the CR unit is not loading properly and should probably shut down, excess smoke is sign of engine over speed by that i mean rpm, its not putting the power down.

  • how do you figure out the name of the train? You know like the code of the train (ex. G19)

  • That last train was really laying it down, great stuff.

  • Why is the Norfolk Southern pulling the MBTA?

  • @112amtrak

They were headed for repairs at the Juniata Locomotive Shops in Altoona, PA.

  • @o00o00ozy Why do the MBTAs geeps have such small fuel tanks? I know that their daily route doesn't take then very far but they would need to be refueled constantly wich such small tanks. The coaches dont weigh much I don't see what is the advantage of a small fuel tank.

  • Nice shootin' there Tex, really enjoyed!. Saw a couple of things that made me curious. The Autorack at 6:19/6:20 (any idea what it was?), and the 2nd TOFC Mech-Reefer at 7:13 was straddling car 1 and 2 (never saw that before!). Keep 'em coming...love that HD video and sound.

  • @fireheart528 a fomer is a train fanatic

  • @cpwhampton Thanks guys. I think all of us have a real passion for trains if we comment on videos like this. Although I think we can agree that having your car sound like an FM H12-14 Train Master with the classic FM opposed-piston sound rigged to the accelerator isn't quite being "fanatical" about railroad.

  • Railroad fanatic

  • great video!

  • Excellent p5 in first clip.

  • LOOK LIKE GP60M TO ME ?

  • Love the P3 on that dash 9.

  • Good job. Great audio quality too. Thanks for the vid.

  • orgasmic sound to the ears!

  • nice metro boston catch

  • Gotta love the loud WHOOOMP sound of the air compressor motor starting up on those GEs!

  • wats with the MBTA on an NS consist???

  • How many SD38s does NS have?

  • @BNSFandSP

14 SD38's and 1 SD38-2's. But all of the SD38's will be retired at the end of this year.

  • @o00o00ozy They still are using SD38's. Caught one in still CR blue this year

  • Nothing sounds better than some old 645s in Notch 8.

  • What are the blue box freight cars a 4:58?

  • @Minernut those are intermodel containers

  • To @nukinfuts1000 - I've never seen that type of intermodel containers in the form and shape like that. Because the doors are on the side, and that model must have square holes on the sides to hold it. Wait, now that I think about it, I've seen that type of container in a train video in Germany. I'll try to find the web address so you can see!

  • @Minernut

They're not intermodal containers. They are trash bins hauling...smelly trash. They really stink when they go by.

  • @Minernut I believe they are trash containers.

  • Those SD38s sounded awesome. We have two of the same units on the small railroad I work for in Birdsboro, PA.

  • Perfect angles, great pictures and fantastic sound! 4 star digital media!

  • mbta?.. never herd of it

  • @arlingtontrains7 Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The commuter railroad for the Boston area.

  • 3805 has a messed up injector or few, she's smoking like an Alco out of one (of her two) stacks!

  • Those SD38s were awesome, nice video!

  • what is that sound at 1:46

  • @tigermki sounds like its powering down a notch or a few. I have it on my video as well with the Amtrak

  • @tigermki Thats the turbo bro/supercharger

  • It's the air compressor

  • Wow that Conrail was smoking up a storm, Nice catches on the Dash9s and the GPs

  • Nice vid. But, there is so much more to life. You need a girlfriend.

  • It says in the video, since some of you are blind. The MBTA units are tacked on to go to the shops in Altoona. -.-

    You can't fix stupid.

  • @iceman977th

Heh, you got that right. I didn't spend all that time typing the description for no reason!

  • @o00o00ozy Lol. Youtube has become 99% fail and 1% real people. I HATE people that don't read. Comments are comments, not interrogating already answered question boxes.

  • @o00o00ozy Could you please tell me what the heck a "foamer" is? I have no idea what that word means.

  • @Fireheart528 Some one who "foams" at the mouth at the sight, sound or smell of trains or rail related items.

  • whats with the purple Yugo's??

  • Awesome video!! Love the sound of those SD38s!!

  • the Buffalo line runs through the most scenic places, the variety of trains is amazing, and runs the most variety of power. Emd dominates and foriegn/lease power is as common as GE's across the river on the Pitt line. Those 38's sure were humming, i caught the 3805 on H3W in May also, paired up with two lease 40-2's and a gp - and still underpowered - amazing sound!

  • So thats where my engines went!!

  • you know what horn that is on the UP?

  • Are those SD-38-2s?

  • Harrisburg you say, thats where the new bishop is from that we got in the fort wayne south bend diocese Kevin Carl Rhodes hes a big tall man, nice guy but very buissy and I bet he had to fend the ladies off with a stick when he was younger he is quite hansome.

I like steam trains myself though, B&O is where many of my family here where I live used to work for, In fact Moms dad drove the train that had Ehsenhour on it when he was campagning and spill coffie on him, he appologised though.

  • Nice video!

  • What railroad are the puple ones? Your video is great! ~COOL~

  • What railroad are the puple ones?

  • @Retrainmytrain

    Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

  • Dang nice video! Super clear and good camera skills. If I had to guess, I would've said the train with the '38's was shot 10 years ago. Really good looking paint on the Ex-Con and almost no graffiti on the train cars. Well done.

  • Very, very nice. Quality of video & sound was GREAT! Loved the SD38's in notch 8. What camera are you using. Thinking about buying a "real" video camera instead of just making do with my Sony DSC-H1.

  • I noticed that the NS engine 3818 did not seem to have smoke coming from the exhaust. When they are running in tandem like that, is the second engine acting as a slug?

  • Nice UP SD60M!!! Those are pretty unique.

  • The pacing shot was most excellent! Good catch planning and knowing where that shot can be made.

  • Nice vid, were the MBTA locomotives on or were they just being pulled?

  • Great video!

  • the MBTA GP40s kinda look like shrunk down SD45s in a way. lol

  • Dude, ultimate Conrail catch with the 38's. Nothing like the sound of a roots blown 645E with a set of Leslie RS-3L's to top it off.

  • AWESOME!

  • Awesome video, those SD38's sound great

  • Caught the same SD38 with the SD60I that was with the UP SD70M last week

  • Eric, I was wondering if you could tell me the best place(most trains) in Our Area-berks county? During the week is most likely the time...but any help is appriciated

  • @railroadlover for got to add this....Great Video

  • i lover the doppler effect on CR Leslie RS-3L's!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sweet video and incredible catch!

  • Awesome stuff!! Really great!! Love the chase with 3805!! Request!! Get out to Boiling springs on The Yellow Breeches creek sometime behind Allenberry play house. Beside great fishing, Nice crossing and very nice curve.

  • What was all that static-y stuff. I just put it on this video and walked away and I came back and it was like heavy analog TV static. I clicked aroud and it all was. Then I left the page and came back and it was trains again; damn I should have recorded it. Damn. I'm not even shitting you lol it was like a news station cutting through tv static.

  • How did you get to post a video over 10 minutes? Do you just contact YouTube?

  • @1DanielChristensen

You have to be a YouTube Partner.

  • @o00o00ozy how many subscribers do you have to have to have a small chance of getting a partnership?

  • @o00o00ozy how many video hits or subscribers does it take?

  • @BoeingNerd

    I honestly do not know.

  • @o00o00ozy

What editing program do you use?

  • Want to give me goosebumps and make my breathing ragged?

    H2W..

    WOW!!!

  • Awesome !! Great audio too, love the sound of those air horns.

  • One of your best, Eric. I really liked this one.

  • Eric, I also think seeing that SD38 is more exciting then the OCS, but the OCS is still awesome, but with the OCS, you know when and where it might be coming, but with that UP SD60M and Ex CR SD38, that tops the cake. Awesome catches.

  • Those SD38's sound awesome.

  • You're welcome for the heads up on 19G btw Eric...

  • Great video you made Eric, Lots of good stuff!

  • Awesome, nice video!

Although I'm partial to seeing the old "Reading" lines, it's awesome to see some of the ex-Pennsy lines too!

I go to school right across the river from Herndon. Sunbury's a pretty sweet place to railfan, as is Northumberland. You ought to check them out sometime!

  • Who says H2W isn't the EJ&E KSW1 under cover with NS and Conrail paint? The sound and horn sure fit the description

  • Great Video!

  • Since US railroading has consolidated to 4 giants (ok 6 counting the 2 Canadians), Its a real pity NS and CSX have such drab color schemes. NS does the black and white pretty decent, but its still black and white. CSX now looks like the Santa Fe scheme in 1971 when I first got into trains, good memories for me but nothing special. I suggest CSX bring back the 'Chessie' scheme of the 70's. NS should get close to Burlington Northerns original scheme, it would fit in with their scenery.

  • @freddycupples it is the Super 7 of North America, UP, BNSF, NS, CSXT, CN, CP, KCS. So now the engines look drab, but all of the paint schemes are based off of their predecessors, CSXT uses B&O Late Blue, and C&O gold, NS uses N&W Black and White, i know that i like the NS black, because it makes it more pronounced as a industry, not a moving billboard...

  • Now if H2W stalled that would have been better because the f units would have to push the train that would have been great and great video

  • First of all, you were right, this video just made me eat my own words 10 times over. This H2W was BY FAR superior to anything the executive F's could offer. Sure, they may look amazing in stills, but they'll never be able to match this on video. This was incredible.

And YES! I've been waiting the longest time for you to throw up your "stalk session" of that 19G with all those beat up GP40MCs we sent you guys. The rare rack train with the Yuppie was equally killer. All in all, GREAT video here.

  • all awesome catches especially with h2w

  • Oh my God Eric. This is YOUR BEST YET! All these catches were incredible; the camera work was superb, and damn them SD38s sound GOOD!!

You still up for my off of $100 to work with me for the NRHS Convention?! I'll up the ante to $150!!!

  • so what is the limit

  • @cn78356

    There is no limit.

  • I love that phase 1 SD60M !

  • Impossible on 19G!

  • Great camera action and catches. DVD quality stuff right here.

  • Excellent Video! That UP SD60M looks weird and those MBTA GPs are looking extra fruity. Haha great video man

  • The Conrail SD38 Chase was very impressive! Job well done.

  • I'm not really a Conrail fan, but I gotta say that is one clean SD38! Also nice catch on the Union Pacific SD60M, didn't know some where still running around.

  • Nice shit dude I caught the 2368 UP in a meet west of Macungie that day Awesome kinda slow that day That made it worth it. small fuel tanks on the septas A Thanks Brendan NJ

  • sure had lots of horse power LOL

  • Awesome video! Nice catch seeing the MBTA Geeps in the first train. It's great seeing a Conrail blue SD38 on H2W!

  • how and the hell did you get a 12 and a half min long video

  • @cn78356

I became a YouTube Partner. I no longer have an uploading limit.

  • Nice catch with the MBTA units. They run through my town all the time!

  • beathiful sounds¡¡ of the locomotives GE and awesome locomotives MBTA¡ nices video. 5* and favorits, regards

  • were the mbta units online?

  • @tom25pa didn't sound or look like it, I would be very suprised if they were.

  • @tom25pa Yep, but no sound was being made...

  • @tom25pa

    No, they were in transport.

  • @o00o00ozy - I take it they were removed from service and are moving on to greener pastures?

  • @deloreanman14 No. They were enroute to Altoona, PA and Juniata Heavy Haul Shops to be rebuilt by NS's contract mechanical 'paper company' Thoroughbred Mechanical Services. The units will receive a full mechanical overhaul, carboy, truck, and wheel work, then paint and be returned. Also to note. These are NOT MBTA1130, 1136, and 1132. They are MBTX1130, 1136, and 1132. MassBay is not a common carrier, and AAR marks MBTA are unassigned.

  • @radioditch - Thanks. I saw the description after I posted that comment. Whoops...

  • @o00o00ozy

Somebody at the motive power desk must have not had their Wheaties for breakfast to assign 2 SD38's to that big of a drag freight.......

    5's and a fav

  • AMAZINGLY EPIC VIDEO DUDE, SIMPLY AMAZING CATCHES AND CHASES

  • I love the UP SD60M's!

  • What happened with the quaity not to be rude.

  • @kittycraft the vid is still procrssing

  • @kittycraft - It was probably still processing.
